Flames fans gunna be pissed when they both get what leafs paid for schenn a 3rd rounder lol zadorov is not fetching firsts plus high end prospects lol

Seems reasonable. I'd do it, assuming Lindell is willing to waive his NMC for LA.

Adding Marns and some D
When you trade for a player like Marner, you don't get to throw in a bunch of bottom 6 guys with big cap hits. Think of the Florida/Calgary trade from last year as a template.

Marner Must Go
Let's play a game called "How to spend 10 million dollars":
<strong>Option 1</strong>:
- Terrible, miscast number 1 defenseman who posts worse defensive results than every other Leafs defenseman (aside from Rielly)
- Middle 6 winger who eclipses the 20 goal mark at his best, but typically hovers around 15 goals
<em>Cost of Option 1: $10 700 000</em>
<strong>Option 2</strong>:
- Top line winger who consistently scores at a 100 point pace and nets around 30 goals
- One of the best wingers in the entire league
- Extremely elite playmaker (Makes Matthews and Tavares better)
- Has the best defensive results of any forward on the team
<em>Cost of Option 2: $10 903 000</em>
The choice is clear. Bagheads will baghead I guess

Couple tweaks
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CakeEaterBanks</b></div><div>Imo Poille needs to really assess his team and coaching. If he wants to go for it buy as Nashville does have imo a top 4 goalie (Vashilevsky and Sheterkin is higher, Ullmark is higher based off this season alone but Saros is more consistent).
Personally I think firing Hynes and bringing in a coach with modern techniques and is willing to utilize speed and possession will do the trick.
If they were to go down a retooling route I can see trade like this happening. Not this one in particular but something of similar grounds, however you said Pollie normally doesn’t do that so I fully see your perspective</div></div>
Agreed. Hynes also needs to go. I guess time will tell.

When they sign as they’re already overage for the entry level slide (19 and 20) their contract doesn’t slide so if they sign a bridge deal they have a chance with arbitration.</div></div>
In any case, Knies will be given a shot but he won't be handed a spot.

Holtz, Walsh, Johnson and 23 1st is fair imo. Probably make NJD more formidable than Boston.
Also what don’t y’all buy low on boeser if you do not want to pay that price. Fits the timeline and everything.</div></div>
I think Boeser is more likely than Meier. And Fitzgerald is know to have wanted him for a while.

Was meant to be a joke more than anything, the Ducks fans on here are easy to get a long with.
I'm not really upset with the price. If the same package gets you ROR or Rico, I'd go with Rico at half retained just cause he has the extra year. Though, it has been a long time since he's played any meaningful hockey.

Why on earth would TO make that Devils trade? Liljegren has been extremely good this year, and cost less than 2 million with years more control. I am not sure it's even an upgrade now let alone down the road.

Yeah, I get that and it's certainly not a ludicrous thought or anything, but expecting them to take back a more expensive UFA is quite open to having the offer beaten. There should be tons of interest in Barby because his cap hit is so low and he does a whole lot for the cost.

You're a bit steep for Rico with 50% retention. You can drop Mete and we would still take the deal.

This is false actually, when you are retaining you are only retaining on the current contract regardless of length. If they are retaining on Miller this season it will end when the 8 million contract starts.

Yes Rielly has defensive flaws but Toronto has been elite defensively and can start him in the o-zone far more with excellent play from Sandin, Liljegren, Giordano, Brodie and Holl.</div></div>
Rielly is grossly underrated.

WhyNot
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CringleMcDingleberry</b></div><div>PPG is almost the same, and that is on a team in rebuild vs Nylander who plays on a top tier team. But even so, as Nylander is a level above, this is why Sebrango (or Lombardi or Savage) is added to cover the gap. The leafs will still need to account for the Cap next year, but that is a 'Then' challenge. Possibly that some salary is retained.
Caniac2000, if you're considering the vaccination requirement for Canada, that has been lifted, has it not?</div></div>
it's always amazing how whenever someone wants to talk down a leafs value they always say that they play on this amazing offensive team, so it's clearly inflating their value, yet we get like 30 agms a day where people try and trade Nylander's linemates like they are pure cap dumps that the leafs need to pay to get rid of.
Bertuzzi scores less with more ice time, he's older, he's got less term and he's going to cost MORE against the cap very soon. And none of those prospects bridge the gap, not even close.
This is a bad trade for the leafs full stop, it makes zero sense from any angle

Except this makes their cap worse next year. This is terrible for the leafs full stop. You dont make your weakest part worse when you are trying to win ans you can get more cap space moving kerfoot or holl for a late pick.

One Last Trade
Kerfoot still has value, I don't understand why people act like he's a cap dump. There's definitely a nice place for him in the middle 6, and he plays the PK. That said, I do think TOR would have to add at least something given contract situations of both players involved. It's incredibly unlikely that he would re-sign. I also think CGY is probably better off offloading a d-man for an even better player. Still, I can see them being trade partners here.
