Please explain why Capt. America will "only " sign in Toronto? That is a ridiculous stance. Actually think TB, NYR, Colorado, Boston all have better chance of interest from him.

...$30 million over 6 years is $5million. I'm saying HE doesn't sign for $5million AAV.

Either way TOR still doesn't make the trade 1 for 1.

Why on earth would TO make that Devils trade? Liljegren has been extremely good this year, and cost less than 2 million with years more control. I am not sure it's even an upgrade now let alone down the road.

I’d take that trade, since Liljegren is an excellent third pair defensemen who’s capable of Top 4 minutes. I will say Sevo is probably worth more than a third round pick, but if you’re throwing Liljegren in the deal, it’s pretty fair.

I will say that the Devils would probably prefer a higher draft pick and one of Nick Robertson, Roni Hirnoven or Pontus Holmberg (Knies is untouchable, Leaf’s would never trade him) over Liljegren just because there’s plenty of RD in the farm. Lastly, from the Leafs perspective, the Liljegren contract is a bargain and I don’t know why the Leafs would trade him over Holl (given he’s a pending UFA).

Liljegren has been a top 4 defender all years and the Leafs are a top 3 team defensively. He's a lot better than a decent 3rd pair defender.

I said excellent third pair defensemen, not decent. And yes, on most competitive, contending teams, he’d be a third pair defensemen capable of top 4 minutes. Truth is, he’s only playing Top 4 minutes because Brodie and Muzzin are injured. He’s still 23 and in the future, he will pan out as a Top 4 D, but he isn’t a Top 4 D rn.

He's a top 4 now on a top 3 team defensively and will remain that for the rest of the season.
