Yeah - not a Pens fans so all I saw was the line. Definitely not great (I think it was 9-5-14 in 44 GP?) but somehow nearly double the pace of Dickinson!
But obviously y'all were following much closer than me back then and I'll gladly defer to your first-hand knowledge that Pearson wouldn't be a fit.

I just forget to mentioned that Kent Hughes will sign an extension to Monahan before trading Dvorack.

You don't just "take what you can get" when trading your franchise player. That's a quick way to lose all the fans they gained the past decade. If you don't get a deal you want then you don't trade the best player on your team.

Both teams win but slight advantage for Leafs. 3 players for one gives leafs more options. Think both teams would not do this.

I mean the leafs lose the best player but..I feel like the leafs would win the cup especially compared to:
This roster vs the roster with matthews
This roster wins hands down
So I think Vegas declines

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KMMHL2012</b></div><div>Of course Ottawa doesn't want them, because Melnyk doesn't want to pay anybody.
All those players being traded there aren't more than depth players, which is why they serve as a move being done, my presumption is that people ship to Ottawa solely because they have cap room, I usually just gloss over it as a "trade it anywhere for anything" rather than assuming that Ottawa legitimately wants these players.
As a habs fan, I watch the Mantha, Laine, and now Kane trades and everyone is "it's Suzuki, Caufield +++" get out of here, none of that is happening, this is the internet, where people literally come and know nothing about being a GM, and most people are homers and overvalue all of their players.
take everything here with a grain of salt.. or just add those idiots to the ignore list.</div></div>
You’re right some just pick Ottawa out of a hat, but then there’s others who give laughable reasons it’s a great trade, those are the ones I’m referring to.

1: dude says Chevy likes holding picks
2: I demonstrate he doesn't like holding picks
3: you get confused.
4: i have to explain it in point form
so, the claim was patently false, as Chevy consistently trades picks rather than roster players
<a href="http://www.nhltradetracker.com/user/trade_list_by_GM/Kevin_Cheveldayoff/94" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">http://www.nhltradetracker.com/user/trade_list_by_GM/Kevin_Cheveldayoff/94</a></div></div>
Ah sorry, phrased that wrong, should of said he prefers to trade good picks like 1sts for rentals
(see Stastny/Hayes trades for example), quality players with term or RFA status like Sergachev he rarely seems to trade for which as a fan I find really frustrating.
I wish Chevy would make a trade like this but his track record says he likely won't, yeah I know he's traded picks for RFA's like Morrow and Beaulieu but those guys weren't Sergachev level talents.

Interesting or no
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KMMHL2012</b></div><div>it's nothing like Marleau.
Marleau had to be moved for the leafs to be cap compliant otherwise they suffer a penalty or couldn't ice their roster.
you're comparing apples to Volkswagens.
Toews is 32, Stastny is 34... if Winnipeg went to get Stastny to be a 2C with 1 year left, then they believe certain players can play until 35 years of age (Don't forget 2 years ago they tried to sign him in FA)... which Toews would be at the end of the current contract.
cap retention is only to help make the move go through, as 10.5 is a lot, but Winnipeg or any team trading for him don't care about the 10.5, they care about the cap hit and salary related to the player they are getting.
I disagree with your assessment, Sure, Toews may not be a 30 goal 1C anymore, but he's a 20 goal 70 point 2C who brings experience, locker room leadership on top of his talent and skill, and you're discounting that as though he's some 4th line overpaid scrub.
so what would you give for a 20 goal, 70 point 2C?... if your answer is Stastny... then you're clearly letting your hometown bias affect this.</div></div>
This guy has to be trolling

LOL so Toews just becomes a cap dump? C'mon man, this is flat out awful. Doesn't matter anyway, Hawks aren't trading Toews and Toews isn't asking for a trade.

Don’t sign Hoffman. Think of what you could lose by protecting any of these assets in the expansion draft.
