Vegas?

Montreal is still not competing with this team. The defense ia bad and the offense barely improved if not at all. Suzuki is an undersize rookie and Zadina fresh from the draft, they won't make an impact for another 2 to 3 years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Truebeliever</b></div><div>It's a nice job getting rid of a lot of cap talent, but where's the return? You'd better have supreme confidence in your scouts and farm development. Based on the last 5 years of returns (Beaulieu, Chucky #3, McCarron, Scherbak, Juulsen) am I convinced that we'll reap suitable replacements for Weber, Pacioretty and Price. I don't feel it.</div></div>
The Canadiens wont get huge value for Price and Weber considering their age, contracts and health issues.
Montreal signs Bozak(2years) and Plekanec(1 year) this summer, in 2020, you accumulate more prospects and draft picks by trading UFAs Galchenyuk, McDonald, Weise and Schlemko. By 2022-2023 Habs fan should start seeing result from being a bottom team 4 years out of 5.

DRAFT
I am not sure the Stars trade their 2018 1st, since the draft is in Dallas for players like Benn!
I would see them do it for Pacioretty though.
I would take a chance on the Edmonton trade. Next up!
Price and Weber.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jdubois</b></div><div>Montréal va pas échanger Carey Price et Pacioretty vaut mieux que ça c'est quand même un marqueur de 30 buts</div></div>
Carey Price is 31 signed for 8 years/10.5mil year with 8 lower body injuries and 2 concussions.
Pacioretty will be 30 years old and asking for 6+ years at 6.5+mil a season.
The core of this team is past his prime and need to be changed. If Montreal doesnt start trading his older elite players, they will suck for another 25 years, its that simple.

Outside the Box offseason (trades with WAS, VGK, MTL)
Montreal need goal scoring and they are not getting it in this trade.
I dont think Vegas touch this. Tuch is way more valuable than Skinner since he's cost controlled. Add Suzuki, last year's 13th overall, a 1st and a 4th. That's a package for John Tavares.

They need to go regardless of who the GM is at this point, Price and Weber are declining and getting paid a lot of money, Pacioretty will ask for 6.5+mil easy. Take the next 2 to 3 years to sell high on whatever you can.

Wouldn't you though?
What do you think Bergevin promised Price when he extended him? A top contending team or a bottom 5 team.
If you are watching the playoffs you can't tell me we can win against any of those teams.
Players know this, they work their ass off to be one of the worst team in the league and Bergevin comes out calling his players publicly and throwing them under the bus.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigBeardBurns</b></div><div>If ur rebuilding, the 1st 2 trades do nothing for u. This won’t happen in MTL. Fans would hate on the Canadiens if they rebuild like this. I like the idea from a CF standpoint (because CF is partly for fun) of dumpin and startin over. In fact, it was 1 of the 1st things I did comin on here. But in real life, u can’t have a realistic rebuild anytime soon in MTL.</div></div>
It could start with Pacioretty and Price this summer. They seemed to be offended by the organization but are being professional about it. They dont want to screw the team so keep quiet to not affect their value.

You made some big decisions to move out some big names and contracts. What I do not understand is you kept Alzner and Schlemko. That part I find puzzling.</div></div>
For more much needed top 10 draft picks. I would like us take on a couple of bad contract for a couple of years next season again for draft picks. Montreal isn't winning anything for at least another 5 years, may as well do something with a purpose this time.

Montreal rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Subbanator7667</b></div><div>IF you do this rebuild you can’t take money back with Weber or Price. Contracts are to long and would give way to much advantage to the other team. Also don’t think your getting anything close to significant enough in these trades.
The best prospect your getting back is Bean, other then that your not getting a single elite blue chip prospect for our three best players. You need to step up the level of quality your getting in return for three players that would step into a team where they are most likely the best player that team has at that position.
If you look at Carolina, your giving them the best goal scorer they will have ever had in their franchise, the best goalie that will have ever played for them, for what’s basically a first round pick in Bean and another literal first round pick in 2018. When really the return would be something like
Price - Max for Necas, Bean, Fleury and two first round picks.
Your basically doing the same thing with Weber, with Weber the leafs could go on to win the cup and not even give us a piece that will be anything significant. For that trade you would have to look at
Weber and Byron - Liligren, Kadri, another prospect and a first round pick</div></div>
I highly doubt Price and Weber are worth this much considering age and contract.

Toronto should upgrade their defense this summer, Weber or Tanev should be a target. Weber has a lot more offense than Tanev and a bigger body to deal with.

That's one hell of an ugly lineup.
Even with Tavares Montreal isn't beating the best teams in the league. 11 goals were score tonight in the Toronto vs Boston game, the same amount the Habs scored in last season's playoffs.

I wouldn't do the Galchenyuk trade unless Jesper Bodvist and Riley Walsh are added. Galchenyuk as more potential than those 2.
Anaheim is not giving a 2nd for Alzner. The Ducks would rather trade a 3rd for Benn or Schlemko.
The Rangers wont trade a 1st for a 4th line C and a back up goalie.
