Habs fans, please stop.
We get that PLDs contract is bad, but sending bad older pieces doesn't exactly solve any problems for LA.

TBF, its 6th OA. But it's definitely a lot for 6th OA

I completely misunderstood what you meant lol.
If the difference between retaining 1.75 mil is only swapping from a 2nd to a 3rd then that would be an easy accept for the Flyers.

Indeed.
He only listen to daddy. Put him on your coaching staff or you'll get more of the same.
Such a shame, the kid is definitely talented enough to play NHL caliber.

Adams a Jack Adams
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>Ignoring the trade itself, you are essentially paying Laine more than Skinner to be the same player (Laine makes 8.7 mil skinners buyout cap hit is 1.7 mil, that equates to paying Laine 10.4 mil, why not just keep Skinner?) Also Skinners buyout might make sense for the 24-25 season at 1.7 mil but look beyond that, in 25-26 it jumps to 4.4 mil and you have to resign all of Byram, Quinn, Peterka and Levi, in 2026-27 the buyout costs 6.4 mil then finally drops to 2.4 mil the remaining 3 seasons, that is not a feasible solution.</div></div>
I had the exact same thoughts
First of all, Skinner is NOT getting bought out this year
Maybe next year when it makes more financial sense- MAYBE
But even if we did get rid of Skinner, why the heck would we replace him with another “lazy” guy who doesn’t play defense and has a huge Cap hit???
That’s frankly just a dumb idea that makes no sense at all

I always laugh when ppl put these crazy trades out there while forgetting that Kent Hughes is the GM. This isnt Jim Benning. Kent has to be one of the most measured guys in the league. He's not even Bergevin with MB's giant ego being a journeyman hockey player that hated skill guys when he threw the alumni out of the dressing rooms and would play favourites with Gallagher meanwhile dumping on Pacioretty/Markov.

Matheson under 5 millions is a massive bargain. No mather what you think, if you look at contract giving to defenseman around the league he make a lot less than what he should. Hronek is younger and that about it. He will cost a lot more then the 4,85 that matheson make.</div></div>
It's simply intellectually dishonest to say anything other than a top4 D making 4.8M for 2 years at ages 30-31 and on a Jeff Petry like upwards trajectory is anything but a steal. Just ignore these people, Matheson, he could win the Norris and the haters will still say he sucks in a vacuum.

I get it. It's just weird that this post even exists. It's like if we made a post about trading Dach to Vancouver cause "they need a center" when clearly they don't.

Yeah. Its getting crazy right now with the congestion on the backend.
Hutson is clearly ready. That wasnt a Poehling situation vs AHL Leafs. He dummied a team fighting for their playoffs lives in Dtown and already looks like a potential elite top pair puck mover that can run a PP in his sleep.
Mailloux has proven everything in the AHL, they need his size when Savard is on his last year and Reinbacher is the type of player that plays better with better teammates (he shouldnt be in the AHL) he immediately looked 10 times better in Laval than that bottom feeder Swiss team and I suspect it will be the same in Montreal as he was drafted because of his high hockey sense and floor.

Unbiased Hard Truths
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>I think the Avs would rather swap Harris in for Mesar since they would have 37 yo Johnson as 3LD, I think it also makes sense for the Habs to include both Harris and Struble since it helps clear the logjam at LD. I also think swapping the Jets pick for the Flames pick makes sense for the Avs as well since they don't have a 1st next year, it also makes sense for the Habs cause we are likely gonna try to start competing and using the 1st to acquire a Mitts type of player helps that.</div></div>
This might be the most positive ACGM that I've ever made despite calling multiple trades at the 2022 TDL and getting called every name in the book along that same thread.
Must be a sweet spot during the playoffs. Post during the game so homers don't lurk and most of the forum is only focused on said teams.

Exactly. Everyone keeps using the “they have too many LHD” and think that’s a good excuse to get Guhle, when Guhle is probably the best LHD we have other than Matheson at the moment, and even then Matheson will most likely be gone after his contract is up or even traded

Thread:
Anderson cap dump
People think of a "cap dump" as a player with a high cap hit who's no longer worth that amount. That's incorrect . . . or, at least, incomplete. The definition of a "cap dump" is a player who is no longer worth his cap hit <strong>which is a burden to his team because it brings them too close to the cap ceiling</strong>. You have $20 million in cap space here and plenty of open roster slots, so Anderson isn't a burden that way, either. I think that it's foolish to expend resources getting rid of a contract which may be a visual annoyance but is little more. Even buying him out is preferable to this, no matter what the cost is.
I've had this discussion previously with Habs fans who say But we need the cap space that would be taken up by Anderson's buyout down the line 2, 3, 4 seasons from now to re-sign x, y or z. I think you can afford to wait to cross that bridge when, and if, you get there.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Subbanator7667</b></div><div>If Leon came with an extension then the Habs do that in a heartbeat.</div></div>
No they don’t. Drai can’t even win with McDavid and that oilers roster, What makes you think Montreal would give up all those assets(and don’t forget we’re a rebuilding team). If drai couldn’t win in Edmonton he definitely won’t be able to win with the roster Montreal has
If Montreal wasn’t rebuilding and were in win now mode, sure they make that trade. But we’re rebuilding, we aren’t giving up valuable assets for Drai
