Would CHI consider this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FireShanahanTrelivingKeefe</b></div><div>Obviously Liljegren signs with CHI you think he just holds out and demands a trade at 24 lol.
I almost guarantee if this was offered to your GM he would jump at it!</div></div>
No, it lessons the value for Toronto if the player is not under contract...that's just a simple fact. It puts the burden of Chicago's back office having to negotiate an agreement...time is money
I almost guarantee, as others are saying to you as well with a strong track record on here, Chicago says no 1 for 1, with retention and for a player not under a current contract.
Moving on

Would CHI consider this
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>FireShanahanTrelivingKeefe</b></div><div>Love people who comment like they are smart with absolutely nothing to back up their opinion!
CHI would be stupid to value a 31 year old over a 24 year old when they are rebuilding!</div></div>
You miss the point and that rebuilding teams need leadership roles and especially on defense where Chicago is stacked with young players and prospects and only have Murphy and Jones to manage the 4 other roles.
Further, Lillypad doesn't move the needle for Chicago's rebuild, and his market value isn't one for one with Murphy especially with retention. Making matters worse, although he's a RFA, he's not under contract either. Chicago doesn't do this deal...sorry

Murphy is worth more than Lillypad and provides a ton of leadership to the locker-room in Chicago. We need a locked-down stay at home physical defender as well to balance the young kids. While something may be able to happen around these two players, it is unlikely Chicago views these as even and even less so with retention.

Marner trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>Just curious why the Leafs couldn't sign Marner to an extension prior to the trade? He's eligible to sign an extension this summer, right?</div></div>
They could, but why would Marner agree to a sign and trade? Generally that is an unlikely scenario, as why would either party agree to a price that is beneficial to another team...rarely see that and due to the collective bargaining agreement, 3 parties can't sit in a room together and negotiate (at least they are not supposed to).

Marner trade
Toronto can trade for the value of 1 year of Marner, but can't get value for the Hawks signing an extension which would have to happen after the trade. For that reason, the Hawks aren't giving up that much for a 1 year rental, which again, is the only value the Leafs own of Marner.

Off Season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>LivingAnew</b></div><div>Yikes. On its face, I think I agree, ChiHawk. On the other hand... they brought in Corey Perry this last year! I'd say it depends on how teammates and coaches value Evander, not us.
He does have a NMC clause, too. So, I doubt he waives to come to Chicago, anyway.
Cheers</div></div>
Yeah but for a 7th round pick and obviously character wise was one of the reasons but that backfired. Kane's character has been well known, Hawks aren't going to risk him in the lockerroom especially after Perry

What pieces matter now
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>spockrock</b></div><div>The Canes are not rebuilding. They’re contending. If they deal Necas, it’s very likely for a roster player or players, not futures. Three 2nds, regardless of where they fall does nothing to help them now or next season.
Again, awful proposal from a Canes’ POV
And technically, the San Jose pick will be 33OA, not the Chicago pick.</div></div>
Simply from a value perspective be it players or picks, the proposal is a bit off, but not "awful". I agree with what you're saying, but your initial response made it sound like value wise Necas lands some massive haul

Necas is worth a 1st and probably 2nd, but (3) 2nds, including one that is the 33rd pick in the draft, is not "awful"...it's a bit off but not "awful"

Hawks easily decline. Rebuild teams don't give up really good young players/prospects for a 1 year rental.

This is awful for the Hawks. Lillypad for $5M?!? LMAO not to mention the Hawks would never touch that trade, they aren't interested in a 1 year rental that will walk to the highest bidder in free agency. Furthermore, Rinzel is a extremely solid prospect, likely a fix on the 2nd line for the future, and the Hawks don't have any young RHD prospects better.

Time for big changes on the right side
I don't see Chicago giving up a 2nd and 3rd, taking on $5.8M cap hit for a 1 year rental on Pionk. ONLY way that happens is if they can retain 1/2 and net at least a 1st at the TDL and Chicago would have to be 100% confident in that

Top 5 teams…who do you want?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ItsDuckSeason</b></div><div>I can't speak for the other teams, but Anaheim needs a RHD, <strong>not a LHD, but a right-handed defenceman</strong>. I think ANA's main target is Artyom Levshunov. If Levshunov is off the board, then they could potentially reach for Zayne Parekh or potentially Carter Yakemchuk if ANA prefers size over skill. If Anaheim gets caught in an awkward situation where Artyom Levshunov is off the board and they don't want to reach for a RHD. They could select either Ivan Demidov or Cayden Lindstrom. :)</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GDubb2Shiesty</b></div><div>With Ottawa in the same position, Parekh at 3 wouldn't be a reach. Guy could go 2nd and it wouldn't surprise me I think his upside is ridiculous.</div></div>
Same with Chicago. RHD is a gap as well as top 6 forwards, but LHD is stacked already so very unlikely Chicago would consider LHD even though Silayev is a stud
