Year 2 Making Moves
This has to be one of the softest team I've seen yet. Is there a forward that can even finish a check in the top 3 lines?

3rd line has to have some offense. I mean did u see the breakaway chance he had last night due to that beauty of a pass by Keith? Shot it right in the goalies chest. Has no offense.
He will be passed soon by the likes of Entwistle, Barret, Kurashev, Soderlund, Hagel and all the other bottom 6 wingers thats currently on the Hogs.

In 2 years we’ll know much more the type of player he truly is.</div></div>
If Hawks are signing him to a 2 yr bridge deal it better be at 4 mil.

Understood and I'm sure some team will pay him that, I'm just hoping it's not the Hawks. Hawks have enough soft top 6 forwards that don't play defense, win board battles, don't play on the pk, etc. Imo this is not they type of player the Hawks need to lock up long term for their next young core.

The reason why you are up so early is the stress of losing your job for putting such a **** soft team together.

I wouldn't sign Strom for a penny over 5 mil. But, given Bowman's track record he will probably give him an 6x7 with a full NMC.

Remake team for 2020
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Donny1313</b></div><div>I'm curious why everyone hates on Strome not being able to produce without the Cat. I agree with you that his production is not good without him. However, wasn't the point of acquiring Strome to give him a new start and reunite him with the Cat? Hes produced at a (.73p/gm in 2019 and .87p/gm in 2018) with the Cat. Those are solid numbers for a 2C/3C, and the Hawks have the leverage and stats to back up their next contract with him and I believe his contract will reflect that.
While it does provide less roster flexibility with Strome only being able to play with Debrincat, production is production. Once Debrincat starts to shoot at his average shooting % (15% in 2017 and 18% last season), Stromes production is going to increase dramatically as well.</div></div>
It's not that I hate him, I just don't see him as integral part of a championship roster. He doesn't go to corners very often to dig out pucks, doesn't win many 50-50 battles for the puck, isn't all that great defensively, plays smaller than Cat for a guy his size, etc. Basically, everything I would like from a 2C for the playoffs, he is not. And tbh, I am not a fan of the Cat-Strome-Kane line. I see them chasing the puck a lot in their own zone during the playoffs.

I would do it if I was Bowman. Get a #1 dman that can run the pp and a top line forward. Though I like Cat and Strome, I'd rather see more 200 ft players on the team. Boqvist, yes he is dynamic offensively but may be worse than Gus on his own end.

Maybe at home when u can dictate matchups more, but on the road that 2nd line will be a huge defensive liability. Teams will undoubtedly try to matchup their top line against that line.

Fair Trade for Pacioretty
Why do this if your the Hawks? Patches won't make them a contender. Won't be able to sign him to an extension at the term and salary he wants so your giving up all those assets for essentially a 1 year rental. Last thing the Hawks need is another 30 yr old on a long term high dollar contract.

If it was that easy to move his contract w/o giving up considerable assets they would have already. Plus, if it played out like u say above. Stan Bowman would have no leverage as every other team would know he has to unload Seabrook's contract. And we know that worked so well from his previous trades.

And then Hawks are in cap hell again next year with Schmaltz due a big raise. No way they can add on a big contract w/o shedding that Seabrook contract. I feel Hawks have too many holes and with the uncertainty of Crawford's health, this upcoming season is a year to develop young guys and try to shed more salary.

At 78M cap, the floor should be 62M...that's with 0% from the players.... the cap floor should actually go up more than the cap ceiling because the ceiling had been artificially inflated... the floor was 55.5M last year but that wasn't based on 75M....which included a 2.5% escalator from the nhlpa.... there are multiple teams that will have a hard time hitting 62M, including the avalanche who have just about a full roster at 53M....</div></div>
Tbf Colorado is as you stated at 53 mil as it is shown today with no further additions. But, do you honestly see them them needing a Hossa type contract? They will most likely spend in the UFA market for a backup goalie, defense, and one or 2 forwards. I don't see them having an issue making the floor.
What other teams? Not Carolina with the key rfa's they have to resign. Again my point is what team would be willing to eat hossa's contract for nothing as some of these trade proposals seem to assume?

Also, why do ppl think teams need Hossa contract to reach the cap floor? No team is in danger of not getting to the cap floor. If it was that easy to off load Hossa contract, don't u think Blowman would have done so already? Granted he's a crap GM, but still.

Chicago wouldn't do that. Hossa contract with the 2019 2nd round pick should be enough to trade the contract. So the 8th overall pick in 2018 for 1 year of pax? Don't think so.

In fact there are no teams that need the contract to reach the floor even if it goes up by 5 mil. And the difference between the Toronto 3rd and Arizona 4th is what 10-12 picks?

Yes, maybe the 2019 2nd round pick is not needed. But, Pageau, is the the type of 3rd line center the Hawks sorely need.
In regards to Manson, I know it's an overpay, but this is exactly what they need. Size and snarl on the back end that can actually clearly the crease. But, Q will probably make him a stick poking soft Dmen when hes done with him.

I don't believe there is a team that needs the Hossa contract to reach the cap floor so I don't see any way the Hawks can trade that contract w/o giving the team an incentive. Also, in order to LTIR the contract and take full advantage of it, they have to be near the Max on the first day. I don't see how they can sign the UFA I've listed and bury 5 mil in contracts to the AHL on the first day.
