I wouldn't sign Strom for a penny over 5 mil. But, given Bowman's track record he will probably give him an 6x7 with a full NMC.

The reason why you are up so early is the stress of losing your job for putting such a **** soft team together.

I mean, look at the trend with NHL salaries. The idea of a 50+ point player getting so little is a fantasy. Especially when giving up several UFA years.

Understood and I'm sure some team will pay him that, I'm just hoping it's not the Hawks. Hawks have enough soft top 6 forwards that don't play defense, win board battles, don't play on the pk, etc. Imo this is not they type of player the Hawks need to lock up long term for their next young core.

1st thing 1st. Those NMCs better be a thing of the past. Woof! Agreed on the contract amount. The term will be shorter. I like Strome, but let's be real. He needs to play with Debrincat or Kane in order to be successful. He himself can't drive a line. He deserves a raise, but make him prove big money because to me he hasn't proven he deserves it yet. If he wont sign....we got Dach waiting to take over and see what you can get in a trade.

***EDIT*** honestly, go look at Stromes scoring log this year. It's like 40%-50% on a line with BOTH Kane and Debrincat. The last center between 2 allstar Hawk wingers was Anisimov. Now Strome is certainly better than AA, but be careful with this contract.

But 50 pts isnt what it used to be. Scoring is going up and I'd prefer Stan play hardball. Just my opinion. Strome still has a lot to prove.

He’s still young. This is technically his second full season. Burish was on a podcast saying you don’t get comfortable until year three. Maybe we sign him to a 2 year bridge like Cat for $5-6 and see what more he can prove while still retaining RFA rights...? In 2 years we’ll know much more the type of player he truly is.

If Hawks are signing him to a 2 yr bridge deal it better be at 4 mil.

While that’d be team friendly, not sure Bowman can swing that. My guess is 2x5 would be a compromise for both sides.
