Not done
Take out the 2024 3rd going to Toronto. Also not interested in the other players not important for the salary cap.
At this point I would do 2024 1st (protected top 10), Minton Frasier, Engvall for Kane, with a Toronto 4th going to a team for double retention.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BUFF36</b></div><div>Why would Buffalo do that in a strong Draft Year.</div></div>
It’s a very typical draft day trade, could be that Buffalo thinks their guy at that spot will fall to them at their original second.

Absolutely no team (that could benefit from Kane or Toews) can absorb $5.25M without sending $ back. Value is prospects, picks + potential to flip players at tdl.</div></div>
Or just keep Kane Domi and the second and flip for prospects at the tdl. I can see how this works for Toronto but not so much for Chicago. You are basically offering a wash of late first for early second. A 3rd and wait for it 2025 3rd. Oh yeah, we get to swallow another year of Nylander. Nope. Not for a rebuilding team.

I know Dickinson is nothing special and would fall into one of the 300 4th liners the Hawks have but the contract isn't bad, and we pick up a 3rd in '24. That's why I'd be interested. I'm not sure we'd get much more for that small a salary.</div></div>
We could use our cap space a lot more effectively than that. His actual cash salary over 2 years is a total of $6.7mil. That is a lot of money and what is most likely to be a mid to late 3rd doesn't pay for that, in my opinion. The Mrazek cap dump was better than this, and that deal sucked.

Finish the tank
IF Calgary is looking for cap space and were willing to give up a 1st for it, they would want Toews 50% retained. The fact that it's a 2025 1st round pick might balance things out a bit since it kicks the can down the road for CGY a bit. But since the resolution of Johnny and Tkachuk leaving town, I don't think the desperation for cap space is there any more. At least not at this point in time. Everyone on here definitely undervalues Toews though. But it is sounding like if Kane and/or Toews are moved, it will be during the 22-23 season. Which will give Toews a chance to prove everyone wrong. Which, I firmly believe that he is going to make everyone look silly for undervaluing him and not buying low when they could.

Necas is pretty young and definitely could be a long term piece or a trade bait that could help us hit the cap floor in the interim. But yeah, judging from what we've seen so far, I doubt this is the kind of package Davidson would be looking for.

Any offer for Kane is gonna start with a top prospect and a 1st, especially 50% retained. CHI could easily get what Philly got for Giroux, and most likely more than what they got. This offer has absolutely nothing that benefits our rebuild and would easily get beat by other teams, even if the list of teams is short.

Likely landing spot closer to the TDL when the cap hit is significantly less due to proration and probably Chicago retaining some. All hinges on where the rangers are at in the standings though.

Or the fact that he only has to play 1 year in Calgary and can then pick where he wants to go. When a team wants to trade you it is tough. As a player how you play in that city knowing they don’t want you.

I don’t believe a 4th round pick would be nearly enough to dump that contract. Although they are different situations I would compare this trade to the Nemeth cap dump trade with Arizona. Montreal is better off keeping him if that is a reasonable comparison.

That's completely untrue. He's not getting a QO because he has arbitration rights and it is likely he would get $4.5M to $5M in arbitration as widely reported by the analysts that cover the Hawks. Once he goes to UFA status, arbitration gets removed. Someone will pay him more then $3M for 3 years. MAYBE he takes $3M for 1 year on a prove it deal. Just because you Leaf fans want to fit him under the cap, doesn't mean players say yes...nor should he.

If you make that 7th round pick a 4th, maybe. It's an obvious cap dump of Mrazek, so the Hawks have some leverage (we've been on the other end for years, so it's nice to have a little leverage).</div></div>
If I was being 100% serious, I would have done Mrazek and the Winnipeg third for Chicago's 2022 seventh so that the BlackHawk draft table could get an early start on the pub crawl. I think that's the real value.

I'll let the Chicago fans tell you why that's not even remotely close for Cat
Oh, and that extension for Cat is just not happening. Carolina do not pay players that much, have you not noticed that? They won't pay anyone more than 10% of the cap by choice.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ecupirate07</b></div><div>If he isn’t on your ignore list, he should be.
Cat would definitely get that extension here as he is still young enough to get one. Chicago will want an outstanding package for him and that isn’t it.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>That package coming back to CHI is less than mediocre. Considering that Carolina's draft position will be end of round for the foreseeable future, that 1st isn't worth as much as you think. It's going to take high end young players and/or prospects and, most likely, multiple 1sts. Assets that I am willing to bet Carolina would prefer to hang on to so they can retool from within over the next few years as players price themselves out of Carolina's cap structure.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>It'll take better prospects. Morrow and Vasili likely.</div></div>

1. Maybe set your sites closer to a 5th rounder for Barrie retained. He stinks.
2. No it’s not possible, and this shows it. You’re three players short of a full roster with insufficient cap space.
