I think Monahan is a good middle 6C but to suggest he's getting a 1st+ is a little out there..</div></div>
Don't worry about him, he's just an old man yelling at the sky.
I think it's realistic to get an Andrew Copp return for Monny, a pair of 2nd with conditional 1st would be fair. Maybe a tad more because he's making 2 instead of 3.5 but the players are comparable.

Yes, yes, sign him this year while he's under contract. 👌

OP: Joseph is basically an overpaid Pezzetta, physical but not really a fighter which I don't think fits the team considering (a) the contracts backloaded money wise (b) it's not like he was a project or coming out of a drop off in production as he's never been producing in his career. Don't think anyone will bite on him, just trade away Bran and sail away.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GuyGuyGuy</b></div><div>Habs decline. Not a single rebuilding team is gonna help the sens sign Pinto</div></div>
Someone will, GMs aren't as salty as their fanbases. They don't care if they help or not the other team as long as they help theirs.

Tanner is another TDL candidate guy. That third retention slot is 100% being used this year.

Get a familiar face I guess? He played with Harris and Struble at NU so I'm guessing the team saw lots of him in the past years and saw something in him.

Gotta happen
His buyout next summer isn't even that bad thanks to his front loaded deal. 1.1 - 2.3 - 2.6 - 1.5 - 1.5 - 1.5
I think Campbell somewhat rebounds this season but I don't know if that even saves him from a buyout. If MTL has a known trade partner for Allen I'd take it but if I'm still stuck with 3 goalies it's a bigger problem than receiving two low firsts.

Are we going to see teams just skip ELCs at that point? Give a 2 year ELC with a burner (So 1 year plus 3 games) and then bam 8 years.

Just say goodbye to Nylander, get a good goalie and pay what Lilly's gonna want.

We all said the sample size was too small for Tage to sign an 8 year deal and look at it today. Today's reality is that you have so many advanced stats and analytics that you don't need 4 years of sample size anymore, I think he's worth his deal with what he brings to the team that covers all of his prime years.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pensfan303</b></div><div>No one is going to touch that contract unless Buffalo retains</div></div>
As I've mentioned higher in the thread an internal cap team could be looking to acquire him. He's only paid 7 and 5 million real dollars so at that mount he's really only a cap problem more than anything.

Signing Pesce and Trading Skinner
Don't think Toronto switches from Nylander to Skinner next offseason but unloading Skinner after his recent success sounds like a good idea. You could trade him to a team looking to save some real money while looking to add a top six guy as Skinner is only paid 7 and 5 million real dollars in the last two years of his deal. Maybe Detroit is a landing spot? Perron's contract is up and it's yet to see if Sprong's a one year wonder so there's a vacant spot on the second line. Vancouver is also a landing spot as he could come in and replace Beau on the second line. Is Anaheim looking to compete? With Henrique and Silverberg out and a ton of cap space it could be a fit.
Maybe retain a little bit too bring to 8 and you get a good return?

Going with LTIR setup on CapFriendly as it is, is he ever coming back? 6 months after his injury he was still far from being recover and that's after 5 surgeries.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>The_Rocket</b></div><div>I could definitely see Van doing that trade if they find a way to clear cap first but as it stands they can’t afford desmith</div></div>
They aren't that far off, counting Mikheyev's cap you're just 271k shy after Martin goes through waivers. With 8 defenders maybe they send one down in the minors and start the season with a 22 man roster and 500k of cap space that's accruing everyday?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CBA</b></div><div>I personally would rather have Primeau than Driedger to mentor Dobes
Cayden has always been good for the Rocket, yes he struggles at the NHL level, but he is an important piece for Laval if they wanna make the playoffs
Armia other year hurt his value too much IMO for Seattle to consider</div></div>
I wouldn't mind Primeau but if he's the only player we can give away to completely clear Armia's contract with no retention .... It's a tough spot to be. Dobes would be in good hands with any of the two considering Driedger's journeyman career through the league. The team clearly lost faith in the fact that he's our next goalie in Montreal when they drafted 3 new ones so his value with the team might be to all time low.

Season opener line up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jpsnow13</b></div><div>RHP cant keep his insane shooting%. He's a bottom 6 energy guy.
Newhook should take his place, has both Dach and him are bad at faceoffs. At least, if you put two 40% centers togheter, the 1st can cheat a little and the 2nd can cover for him if he get chased from the dots.
Dvo is the best faceoffs guy on the team and a perfect reponsable 3C.
Finnally, giving less TOI to Gally makes sense. Giving him under 10 minutes on a 4th line doesnt.</div></div>
-RHP likely can't keep it up but he showed enough good stuff to warrant a shot at big minutes.
-Problem with Newhook is that Colorado traded him away because he wasn't meeting expectations as a top 6 guy so putting him as a top 6 guy from game 1 will just result in more of the same. Plugging him as a 3C to begin the journey will help him gain confidence and I don't think we traded a 1st and a high 2nd not to even try him at center.
-Gally gets 10-11 on a fourth plus PK time and maybe some PP2 minutes as a net presence so around 12-14 a night, perfect for him.
