Team: 2023-24 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 19, 2023
Published: Aug. 19, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just moving Forsberg to make cap room. Should be enough for Chicago to take this on. only two years left. contract and player not awful. just because of the cap situation. Unfortunatly Thomson will be sacrified. Ottawa already have a lot of talented young defensive prospect. I have Kleven ahead of him.

Yep, something like this might have to be done by the Sens. Think Hawks should accept

You're really going to put a guy who played ECHL games last year as your backup? Just shoot Joseph into the sun

Do the same thing but with Joseph. That 200k difference would allow you another scratched player.

OP is MTL fan, so I wouldn't put too much faith in their assessment of Sens team.

I highly doubt Forsberg is the casualty here. GMPD likes him, apparently Korpi likes him too (helped convince him to come to Ottawa), was our best goalie last year, and considering we went 7 deep last year, he will be needed. Unless they see that his injuries have completely wrecked his play, I don't see him being moved this year.

What is more likely is Joseph and/or Brannstrom being moved, even if it costs picks to do so. They gave Joseph a decent contract, and he proceeds to play like crap, and apparently did something bad enough that DJ scratched him for a game he had a lot of family in town for. So he's not in management 's good books. And Brannstrom just doesn't really have a role. He will be surpassed by Kleven soon enough, pretty sure this will be his last year in Ottawa (hence his 1y deal, making him tradeable).

Hawks already have their goalie spots settled, they are not needlessly spending another $2.75m on Forsberg, someone they’ve already had in the organization before and moved on from. Thomson and a 4th are not enough incentive to get them to get them to work through the logistics involved by adding another goalie.

He has one more year on his deal (3) at 2.95. Its going to cost way more to move him and i like the top 9 lines with him. Way harder to move too.

You can call up Soogard but i wanted him to start in the AHL. You can sign a cheap goalie at 800K like Halak if you want.

Thomson and a 4th is perfectly fine.

Not for the Hawks it’s not, would rather keep the cap flexibility. There will be better deals out there for the Hawks to use that cap space closer to the start of the season or at the trade deadline.

If you think it is such and good deal, then propose it Montreal instead of Chicago.

Ah yes, Anton “can’t stop a beachball” forsberg. I almost forgot of that era of Blackhawks goaltending… I should clarify that it’s better forgotten at this point, so no need to retread that with this trade.

Uh why would Ottawa want to move Forsberg? He’s good and needed

And even worse, you PAY assets to move him

To get cap compliant, there’s other very easy solutions. Can’t wait that it happens so these proposals stop

Look at yourself in the mirror and throw up

Forsberg literally serves 0 purpose to us

And we already are full of left shot defensemen so Thomson also serves no use to us

Hawks decline. See the Jason Dickinson trade from last season. Same term. Same cap hit. Better player. Hawks got a 2nd to take that contract. Hawks would want the Ottawa '24 or '25 2nd at a minimum to take Forsberg. Thomson and a 4th doesn't do it.

Thomson is actually a right shot guy. But hasn't come close to playing up to his #19 overall draft status. He's probably got similar upside to what Regula had. But to your point, not enough to take 2 years of Forsberg.

Bruh stop acting like your Tampa and adding his deal is going to reduce the chance of competing💀 Just take his deal on nothing is going to change. Still going to be ass every year and going to tank.

What you mean 0 purpose. He is going to help yall for the Celebrini Szn. That's not the goals for the season?

Honestly, I'd rather sell Kubalik than pay to lose Forsberg or Joseph. I think we need Joseph, especially long term. He's incredibly reliable defensively and that is something OTT desperately needs.

I’ve literally never acted like this team is any good, but I don’t want to spend one more year of watching Anton mother****ing Forsberg because it was complete torture the first time and the second time I doubt would be any better

Hawks already have 4 goalies signed to professional contracts. They don't need/want another. If a need arises they can always sign a bum off the streets for minimum deal. Not be stuck with 2 years of Forsberg.

So pay up or move on to another team.
