1- Monahan will return more
2- Pearson without retention is still cap dump
3- I doubt Carolina would want to pay that much to acquire a goalie since they already have Raanta, Andersen and Kochetkov.

Andersen has blood clots and we have no idea when he might be back, if at all. Raanta is inconsistent and injury prone, and Kochetkov still doesn’t look ready to be a starter

Raanta is worst than Allen, and by far.

Andersen will probably come back one day. That day, they will have 4 nhl goalies. I doubt the canes would pay that much for Allen when cheaper option with less commitment like Vladar are available.

But, hey, if you take this deal, I won’t complain.

Raanta has been pretty bad this season and it seems like he's cooked and we need another goalie.

Not by far. When he is completely healthy, Raanta is a solid 1B. Anyway, if they target a goalie, it will be one with less term. Like Vladar or even Primeau

I can see Vladar except for the fact that he's not been great either. Lankinen might be an option

The type of trade that I can make is Allen with a rentention for Raanta and a 5th round pick.

He is pretty good on face offs and defensively. He is in a lethargy rn but when he is good, he is a PPG player. On top of that, he is willing to resign and we don’t have a C to replace him. So we will only trade him if there is an overpay.

We won’t take back a goalie if we are trading one. Monty and Primeau are doing more than enough to deserve being a duo

But we would have him this year and he would steal game from Monty and Primeau

How is Monahan returning more? He's a pending UFA and a fantastic 3C. I think a first is more than fair.

We have no other C to replace him. He has a better pace than O’Reilly and Bertuzzi, who both got more than a first. He is good on faceoffs and defensively

Not at all, maybe playing 1 game in 5 nights ? For me, the 3 goalie tamdem for this season helps for the confidence on Primeau and also on Montembeault.

No. Bertuzzi got a first in two years with full salary retention...and it proved to be a bad trade.

O'Rielly with full retention (and Acciari) got a first and chicken feed. He was also a cup champion and is one of the best defensive forwards in the league. If you're using O'Rielly as a comp for Monahan I think you will be disappointed.

I don’t think it helps at all. Monty just stole a game and how did he get rewarded? By losing his place to Primeau. 3 goalies doesn’t help eith motivation either. It doesn’t matter if you’re good or not, you will play 1/3 game fir sure

Bertuzzi got a first and a fourth while being a much worse player. And that trade prove to be a bad one for the wings.

O’Reilly was having a really, really bad season and he still got a first, a second and a prospect. He wasn’t really good defensively this year and it was clear he was slowing down

You might want to double check that.
ROR: 18pts in 19gp
Monahan: 13pts in 20gp

I think Monahan is a good middle 6C but to suggest he's getting a 1st+ is a little out there..

Don't worry about him, he's just an old man yelling at the sky.
I think it's realistic to get an Andrew Copp return for Monny, a pair of 2nd with conditional 1st would be fair. Maybe a tad more because he's making 2 instead of 3.5 but the players are comparable.

You might want to reread what I wrote

O’Reilly : 19 in 40
Monahan : 13 in 20

Clear winner

I mean, yeah, if you wanna cherry pick his points. ROR is one of the best defensive forwards in the game, and is a noted vet with a cup ring lol. Monahan is none of those things.
