There isn't much actual salary savings either, so it his deal doesn't remotely become good for a team just wanting to hit the floor until the final year where he makes less cash than his cap hit.

As good as it gets next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>If the wild sell this deadline what are the approximate range of prices on:
Duhaime
Middleton
Gustafsson</div></div>
Duhaime is probably a 4th. Maybe a little more or less, but he's just about in the same realm as Lazar and Sundqvist who both went for a 4th last year.
Midds and Gus both have term and aren't on the block, so they'd both require an overpay. More than most teams would/should be comfortable with.

Avs get their 2C
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jd__</b></div><div>Avs say no. Byram alone is almost an overpay for JEEK, then add their best prospect Ritchie and a first? Yeah Avs totally say no, Wild definitely say yes though</div></div>
Uh, no.
JEEK's current market value is rated at $8M, while currently only being paid $5.25M AAV for the next 6 years. It's easily one of the best value contracts in the league. Furthermore, he's a top-six center, the more valued position. Plays a Selke caliber level two-way game, and is arguably the best shutdown center in the league now, sans Bergeron.
Bowen Byram is a oft injured #3 2nd pairing defenseman with a current market value rating of $2.9M.
Their value ain't close there, chief.
Yes, Byram has top pairing upside. No, Minnesota doesn’t care. They <em>still</em> don't consider this trade. Ritchie is nice, but him, Byram, a disappointment and mistake turned cap dump in Johanson, a late 1st, and a prospect who spurned Minnesota by signing with Colorado over the Wild isn't as appealing as you think it is.
The ONLY pieces of interest in this trade are Ritchie and Byram, and Rossi's emergence as a top-six center this year largely negates the interest in Ritchie. So while Byram is good, he's not THAT good.
For reference, JEEK is easily the 2nd most important and untouchable player on their roster after Kaprizov. Over Boldy, over Spurgeon, over Brodin. Over everyone.

Foligno is definitely going nowhere. He likes being in Minnesota, and the Wild like him being there too. He just signed the extension.

The problem with signing Scheifele and Nylander to 5 plus years at those numbers are you run out of money to pay KK97 and some of the younger talent even with the cap going up there are alot of ELC that will need new deals after 2-3 years and those add up pretty quick even if half of them don't get huge money for a second contract.

If the Pens were going to trade Puustinen I don't think it would be for a 32 YO 3rd pair at best RHD. As for the other trade I also don't think the Pens would load up and have all OFD on the Right side. While I liked Addison and hated to see him go as at the time he was the only prospect the Pens had that was close to NHL readiness I do not believe a reunion is likely while 58 and 65 are on the Pens.

Thus my comment about seeing whether Nylander just gets to UFA and try to sign him there instead. The Wild will need Hartman, Foligno, and the other cheap contracts this season.</div></div>
Depending on wher the Wild are that the deadline, I can see Hartman moving. The player with that contract with retention? The return should be fantastic. Has 1st rounder + written all over it.

grit and depth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoolHandL</b></div><div>I like Nylander to the Wild, too. It will be another tight year in 24-25 regardless, but they could make it work. Maybe swap out the 1st for one of their current prospects though, depending on what Toronto values more. That, or more likely just wait until he gets to free agency. I think with several more contracts expiring after this coming season, they would be able to fit in his extension as long as it is around the $9-10M range.
Granted this would certainly mean moving on from Kaprizov's buddy Zuccarello, as well as Hartman who is going to be a tricky valuation. And as an aside, of Zucc/Hartman/Foligno, I actually think Guerin would be most likely to re-sign Foligno. Depends on if Rossi/Khusnutdinov can show up in the next two seasons as Hartman's replacement. Will be much easier to replace Zuccarello than Hartman, especially considering Mats' age.</div></div>
The issue with that trade construct is Hartman's contract maybe the best in the NHL. Being a 50-60 point guy with jam and can play centre has value. Getting that at $1.9 million? That makes him a very very valuable commodity that in this construct takes away from a Nylander return. Now, his market value as a UFAis tougher to gauge, but I would be thinking the baseline of a new deal is around Trochek..... and depnding on the term, that could still look OK.
But, if Willy wants his $10 million per, I am not sure that happens in Minny unless your aforementioned prospect are ready next year.... which they could be (I like Minny's system a lot). Not saying it couldn't be done, but it would be trickier than meets the eye.

Lindholm for wild package
Before the peanut gallery chips in negatively I'll say all the Lindholm trades you posted today are good offers... With a couple caveats:
1. Calgary wouldn't accept any of these offers if Lindholm decides he will extend with the Flames.
2. The other teams wouldn't make any of these offers unless Lindholm is willing to extend with their team.

The Gus Bus rolls on. He definitely improved under a stronger defensive unit, can't wait to see how he fares with a higher workload. Good deal.

Man, Pettersson would be a great get for Minnesota, but most of us fans would be absolutely shook to lose Boldy AND Faber. I know you gotta give to get, but Boldy's contract looks like it's going to be a HUGE steal and Faber is "One of Us" who also looks like he is going to be very good for a long time, so I just can't get fully on board here.
