Buffalo moves on from Victor Zemgus Kyle and Tyson
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DDossett</b></div><div>I have to say my biggest concern here is age followed by goal tending. I heard "youngest team in the league" as an excuse a lot this year as if the teams age wasn't apparent when starting the season with sheehan, bjork, and hinnestrozza on the roster and there was just nothing 20mil could do about that for a season. This is looking like the same mistake. Who is your captain?
Whats your plan for when upl goes IR in january and levi has already played more games than he's ever played in a season? Hart was awesome when he got his first starts, knight was going to be the greatest ever, UPL was an allstar. I really hope the plan is not to have levi in buff next year but wolves gotta eat too l guess.
Mitts has been on fire...for a few games maybe, a garbage fire most the season tho. During the tank zegmus got a few goals as a 1C when ennis was out. If you think mitts is figured it out how bout keeping him as depth to move up to cover injury? Don't you kind off want to push for playoffs next year? Does trialing a 1c and adding 2 rookies seem like a way to do that?
I like adding veteran d, Orlov will probably take a different offer but its a good shot. Clifton is a more stable defender than joker but he's probably going to want more than that and some one will offer it, say 3mil x 6. Doable.
Im very concerned about your forward depth as you called your call ups up to start the season, perhaps spend that 10 mil on 2-3 guys that will help with the "youth problem" and then waive them if kulich or some forces thier way in. Savoie could be an exception but it should be because he's NHL ready not because he's surpassed the CHL.</div></div>
First, great feedback and a ton of really good questions.
Yup, this team will still be the youngest team in the NHL even with adding Orlov.
That of course is a concern considering all of the errors that go along with <strong>On The Job Training</strong>.
Being an eternal optimist, Peterka's and Quinn's first season production (12-20-32, 14-23-37) is very similar to Cozens' (13-25-38), a bit rosie outlook but they could break out as he did.
While Mittelstadt has been the Sabres best player over the past 10 games, remove his terrible slump of 16 games from November 4th to December 7, the remaining 65 games he has 10 goals, 51 pts and +4.
He also has more pts this season than he had his previousl 3 seasons. Maybe calling him a top line center is a bridge too far.
He has also demonstrated that he has become a solid 200 ft forward, consistantly digging the puck off the boards in the defensive zone.
You are correct we can pay both Orlov and Clifton a bit more.
Orlov is signed for two seasons when Peterka and Quinn will want a raise.
You are correct, offer both Girgensons and Okposo contracts.
Over all this line up only adds one young player, Savoie.
All of the younger players will be a year older, stronger, smarter, mature and more capable of handling adversity.
Lastly, Malcolm Subban has been a brick wall since mid March.
He is 5-0-4 with a 2.25 GAA and a 0.921 SV%.
It was a great move to acquire him last year.
He may even push Luukkonen if he can continue this production.
Finally, upgrading the defense, adding Goodrow coupled with the experience gained this year should be sufficient to get this team into the playoffs next year.

Obviously the quality is way off for Robertson. His value is ridiculous and the Sabres are not in need of another high-octane offensive guy compared to our urgent need for defense and goaltending

I know we call a lot of players replaceable but Mittelstadt is the definition of a replaceable player
He’s not an awful player just the most average player anyone could ever name

If UPL or Levi disapoint maybe i resign him. Buy im probably moving on regardless. I'd just hate to not make a long shot cup run next year and im ready to move on from all the peices above in the future anyway.
im also getting Sissons whose on a super reasonable deal for a few years to bounce around my bottom 6.</div></div>
For what it would actually take to get Saros,
you’d be giving up quite a bit to have him for just over 2 years
And he’s likely not enough to realistically make a Cup run next season- maybe in his last season here?
But if we aren’t gonna extend him, then he should probably be traded by the deadline at the latest
Shouldn’t let him walk for nothing

Buffalo was smart to be patient they weren't gonna do any damage this year but I'd focus on a top 4 RHD then a starting goalie, you could get a good goalie for cheap and go the Colorado route where your team is so good that a goalie doesn't even matter. With your guys offense if you can bolster that D core average goaltending should get you to the playoffs next year IMO.

Just did another ACGM for the ‘24-‘25 season
That’s AFTER we sign Dahlin & Power
And i included Meier at $9mil per
Looks like we still have over $7.5mil to upgrade defense/goalie
Or just hang on to for other upcoming signings

Can we afford Meier moving forward
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres89</b></div><div>I think you are close. I do agree portillo doesn't have much value, maybe swap him for a 2nd? That's two mid firsts, a second, and mittelstadt, who is gonna have a look at 50 points this year. And mittelstadt shouldn't break the bank either. That's a decent offer, if jersey wants to beat it, have at it. Not sure how you removed olofsson, I'm assuming for picks, might be more difficult than that. I really like olofsson, but there's only so many teams that are shopping for a 5 million dollar shooter, and chances are they don't have 5 million in cap space, so they are gonna wanna give us cap back with the pick. But yes, it looks like there should be room. If I've gotta throw somebody else over- jokiharju and upl are both over 3 million. Wanna make an omelet...</div></div>
I left out Olofsson simply bc i think he’s a guy who might not be here long term- regardless of what we might be able to get for him in a trade
He could be a piece in a Meier trade, he could even leave as a UFA
I didn’t really care to address it, bc the point i was trying to show was that we could fit Meier moving forward IF we wanted to
As far as Jokiharju & UPL go,
I also showed how we would have Cap Room to upgrade from those 2 if we wanted
Things get a bit tight, depending on how many other players we’d wanna bring in, but we could do it

Yeah you could probably make a pretty valid argument against this trade. I'm sure some MN fans won't agree with me on it.
And not like I think Steel's been terrible or anything, I just think he's a little redundant. I'd move on from him in a player swap trade like this.

Skinner value
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dannibalcorpse</b></div><div>When you look at the goalies who Skinner has played in front of, it makes a lot more sense. 8 years of a steadily declining Cam Ward, followed by a couple years of a Carter Hutton/Linus Ullmark tandem, and then the woodchipper that the Sabres net has been over the past couple years (6 goalies used in the bubble season, and 6 more used last year, somehow only 3 this year.) It's crazy to think that 41-year-old Craig Anderson might be the one who finally stabilizes that position behind him.</div></div>
It doesn't matter. $9M guy, no playoff games in a 900 gp career, there are just no excuses.

Can't see LA parting with Roy.
And if they did, the deal would need a 1st round pick or a top-4 ready LD. So LA would counter for Samuelsson or a 1st.
Hucking off your prospects that the entire league knows might not sign and the worst of your three 2nd round picks isn't enough. There's no leverage there for Buffalo.

I would imagine San Jose points at the 7 other better prospects that Buffalo has and asks for them, just more quantity than anything, not overall a bad offer though. Would prefer prospects that aren’t already believed to not sign a ELC and become a free agent.
