It is my hope that at the least Chmelevski and Chekhovich get a shot before any signing or trade is made.

I prefer the positive side. Pickles iis just too much of fan fav and short handed specialist for us. Once Zajac is gone I see Coleman as that guy with Zacha as the C. Good idea don't like whats going to SJSs

The wings needed to move him and SJ is the best destination possible. Top contender for the cup. Great team culture. supportive and kind management. sunny and warm :-)
Getting the chance to be traded to the sharks is a score for GN. Its either that or upset the wings by not waiving and screwing them out of the return they want for him. That creates a pretty terrible relationship with him and the team, and he hasnt earned the franchise tag to do that.
I hope you get a 2020 2nd as well :-)

Dealing for Nyquist and Glendening
the other nice thing for the sharks is that all this renting (EK65 and Nyquist) gives them many avenues going forward. If EK65 does not stay, they have other good talent in the org with exclusive bargaining rights until july 1. Dougie is extremely good as resigning internal talent. He may end up keeping nyquist this summer if EK walks.
Completely loaded up for this year and lots of options this summer. Dougie has himself in a very strong position. Lots of pressure on scouts to figure out the future (signing euro FA's, Jr FA's, late draft picks, etc) with so few good picks for the next several years, but that's never really been a problem before.

Its very much in line with what I figured...
Detroit didnt need Melker. Gregor could have gone, but it wasnt just a second, and glendening wasnt part of the trade.
Im not sure if you are trying to toot your own horn, or just asking for opinion. If trying to toot your own horn, you might look at your proposed trade and realize that yours was nothing close to the real thing except that it included nyquist and a 2nd.
If looking for opinions: I think the sharks did extremely well! Getting Nyquist for a couple 2nds (or a 2 and a 3) is awesome, particualrly since boyle went for a 2nd and Nyquist >>> Boyle. However, when Duchene went for a 1st and a couple lower prospects (and a conditional 1) the market was set low. Then Dzingel goes for two 2nds, and it was clear that 1st rounders were not getting thrown around this year. Stone will get one and then some, and hayes might too, but the buyer list is shorter this year than the seller list, and the prices are lower than usual. Dougie took advantage of a favoriable market, and get a very good player for a pretty low price...

I would love to bump jumbo to line 4, and separate the two worst defensive forwards (labanc and jumbo) on the team. Problem is that I dont know johansson's defensive acumen well enough. Whoever takes over the 3rd line must be top notch in their own zone. Johansson's big minuses the last two years scare me there (Tied for the worst forward this year and 3rd worst last year). also ryan, gregor, and a 2nd is an overpay. the 2nd alone should take care of it. I like Ryan and I wanna keep him as a good value players to round out the D next year.</div></div>
Excellent points, I feel Mojo's decline is more of a product of his environment and deployment and less of a representative of him as a player. The Devils are horrendous. The deal is favored on the Devils side and I like that as a Devils fan. I think a realistic deal would be 50% retained Mojo and a mid-to-late-round pick for a 2nd and one B level prospect.
IMO, SJ has to go all in. The reason, I think EK moves on in FA and does not resign with the Sharks and I think SJ's window is closing honestly.

A 3rd pick could be enough to land Panik straight up but the Sharks 3rd rd pick is going to be in the late 80s (ideally the 92nd pick but let’s not get too ahead of ourselves) so Chakya may not bite.</div></div>

Point of view from a different Detroit fan. Holland wants picks and prospects or maybe young player. Detroit is rebuilding and bringing in a 28yr old 32yr old is counter productive and doesn't make much sense. Helm, Abdelkader, Glendening and De La Rose all play a very similar game to M. Karlsson and their production is almost even. If SJ had Karlsson and a good D prospect or a 1st. Detroit has some D prospects that they need to get some playing time so a decision can be made on their future in NHL. That can't happen if we bring veteran defensemen.

Pass for the sharks because you'll never see a team like the sharks who is clicking on all cylinders, move a starting top 4 defenseman who's spent their whole career with the team for a guy who's 100% a rental forward. Buyers almost never move current roster players unless they don't fit their system, or have extreme circumstances. Braun doesn't fit either bill. Sharks don't have the assets to move for Nyquist unless they move Merkley which they shouldn't do unless they have an erik karlsson extension completed.
*value wise it's probably fine for the sharks, but when team chemistry and not messing with a team's mojo and style come into play it's a trade that won't happen.

Reasonable Deadline Moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DOTFAM</b></div><div>What you are asking NSH to give up is a lot for Nyquist IMO, too. Look at the Evander Kane trade last year for example. That 1st rd pick SJ gave up was conditional on Kane signing a long-term extension.</div></div>
The whole thing there is that they'd be getting back NYI's 2nd rounder, which will probably be in the late 40's/early 50's. Since Nashville's 1st is likely going to be in the tail end of the 1st, they'd really just be moving a round back. Maybe the trade is Fabbro and a 2nd for Nyquist and a 3rd, and if the Preds make the WCF those move up to Fabbro and a 1st for Nyquist and a 2nd. I don't think this happens regardless, but if it's true that Fabbro could potentially go the Jimmy Vesey route and not sign with the Preds then maybe there's a little more incentive to move him while his value is still high.
The Sharks situation is fascinating to me. It sounds like Karlsson is enjoying his time there and seems like he'll re-sign, but if there are doubts about him coming back it would be brutal to lose arguably their best Cup shot because of Jones. Jones being signed for another 5 years complicates things too, because bringing in outside help will likely affect Jones' confidence; and if he doesn't get back to form that contract becomes an albatross. Like I said I don't think any of these actually happen, but the Sharks deal in particular I thought was interesting.

its a competitive offer for Panarin. CLB gets two quality roster players for this year's playoffs and beyond, including a vet Dman and a replacement top 9 forward. Labanc is up to a 50pt pace, so any offer that includes labanc for any rental is one that any other GM would have to consider. 50 pt, 23 year olds dont grow on trees, and when you can get one for a rental, it's usually a steal.
I think if dougie wants to land a top rental (Stone, Panarin level), labanc would be the centerpiece of the deal. Personally, I think you gotta give to get, so I would be find dangling labanc for the right superstar...

Gregor isn't even in SJS's top 10 prospects if they don't to use a first a top 10 is a must. If we are taking on M.Karlsson a player we have no use for it should be a top 5. Ryan might be the best piece in that trade he did put up decent numbers in the AHL. But its too much maybe.

Detroit probably isn't aiming to make the playoffs before 2021, which is also the Seattle expansion draft year
They got burned by every 6+ year contract they signed to players who would be in their 30s when it finished.
I'm not a Detroit fan, but their one clear option is to tread water while they suffer the weight of their own contracts. Come 2021 they could have a stellar prospect pool and the most cap space in the league to add vets with.
They probably don't value bringing in anyone older than 22 today
Melker = 28
Ryan = 25
Gregor = 20, 111th overall / 4th round pick in 2016
2019 2nd Rd FLA = 18
I'd say yes for DET to take that high 2nd for one of Glendening or Nyquist, but I don't know about what they need to maintain a positive locker room and avoid Oilers disease.
Gregor might be equivalent value to an average result for a 2nd/3rd draft pick, but I can't vouch for that.
Seems fair, definitely an honest trade attempt with some effort. No idea if that's the high bid this year, but DET won't need to bluff or guess to get that.
I love to see SJS go all-in, they've already committed so much to winning the Stanley Cup this year. There's no refunds and no turning back now.

Detroit has zero need for melker.
Gregor has some value, as being top 10 in the WHL in scoring is good, but he is also an overager, which lowers that value. He is not a blue chip prospect in the level of the Chwins, blichfeld, merkley, or even gambrell.
a 2nd is a 2nd. It will likely be the sharks 2nd as the better of the FLA or SJS second goes to Ottawa.
Ryan is respectable, but also not that attractive for a team of detroit's age. Im just not sure that a #8Dman, an overage midlevel prospect, and a 2nd gets nyqist. I would think the price for nyquist is likely a tp flight prospect and a 1st. If the sharks dangled chekhovich, merkley or perhaps blichfeld, along with the second and mayve another later pick (4th or 5th), that might be competitive.
Boyle just went for a second. Is Nyqist only worth Gregor and Ryan more?
I like the nyqist target, but Im not sure such a fleecing is possible. (I'm still holding my breath for Panarin or Stone...)

Its basically Labanc for Zuccarello, again ZUC is a vet with a lot pf playoff experience on a big stage. GM's love that too.
SJ has no picks to really offer & those prospects are a far way from the NHL, the Sharks are in win now mode & are in a cap crunch, so with the retained money, thee guys are basically costing the Sharks nothing. GMs also love that.</div></div>
Labanc is on pace for about 50 pts this year. They're not going to trade a younger, roster player for Zucc who is already putting up a similar amount of points Zucc has been known to put up. They might trade some other non-roster prospects, but contending teams don't trade well contributing roster guys.
