Dumba Severson mayfield all potential ufas in july</div></div>
If we are just outside or in a playoff spot by the TDL, I might take a shot at Severson. I can't see NJ moving him

This move doesn’t make sense for the Devils though.
They already have quite a surplus of forwards as is, at any given night a very decent NHLer will be scratched due to that fierce forward competition (last night it was Zetterlund).
Therefore there’s no real incentive to downgrade rather massively at D (Severson is very important to them) just to recoup a 2nd and another middle six forward you’d have to scratch at any given night.

Plus this isn’t a terribly rich offer, he’s a big upgrade over Jokiharju, Mittelstadt has been a huge let down and doesn’t have much value. The 2nd is worth giving up to receive a top 4 D and shore up the D core long term.</div></div>
Because New Jersey certainly isn't selling

No Picks Involved
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dom1422</b></div><div>I get what you’re going for, but I think it’s flawed. Habs won’t want Mittlestadt badly enough and he doesn’t have the value to net that type of return. Also I don’t think Nashville would move Ekholm. They would move Fabbro or Carrier before they move him.</div></div>
The MTL/BUF trade was slightly modified from one that was generally accepted on here.
Dvorak, Kostenko, Sobolev, '23 3rd for Mittelstadt, Portillo, '23 4th.
I removed the picks and Sobolev and replaced with Ylonen instead.
Portillo is the goal for that move, Dvorak offers a much more stable 2-way game over Mittelstadt, and Ylonen can fill in the bottom 6 where Olofsson is being pulled from for NSH.
As for the NSH trade I think you're probably right but I personally would rather move Ekholm for those two to give us 3 quality young RHD + another offensive threat winger. Use his paycheque for 2 quality players on the roster instead of just one and balance out the D better. Would make us younger too and of Josi/McD/Ekholm I feel he'd be the one to move.

Next Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Value wise you're offering a 3rd (Dvorak'sv value), a C prospect and a first which won't get Dubois for a full year.
Chiarot got a 1st, a 4th and a C prospect as a rental at the TDL. Why would Winnipeg accept less for Dubois for a full year when Dubois is far more valuable than Chiarot?</div></div>
I thought you said Chairot wasn't worth that lol. I am just kidding but your evaluation of Dvo is way way off. Dvo isn't on the same level as Pageau or Monahan but he still returns a 1st and maybe a 4th (if he is traded). Farrell is a B+ prospect, he may not be a big guy by any standards but he is still a very good prospect to have. Farrell put up 53 points in 44 games in the USHL in his draft year, 101 in 53 USHL games in his D+1 year, he followed it up with 8 points in 6 WJAC-19 games, in his Freshman year in the NCAA with 28 points in 24 games. He also had 6 points in 10 WJC games and 6 points in 4 OG games. So far this year he has 13 points in 9 games. So since his draft year he has been over a ppg player almost everywhere he has played against varying levels of compilation from peers to men at the college level to former NHL and pros from other leagues players at the Olympics. I don't think that the package above is as bad as you feel like it is. The real issue with it is it's not the peices you want for PLD, if your trading a player like PLD you don't want a middle 6 center and some good but not great prospects or picks, you want 1 really really solid peice and other good peices. The real problem with that though is your not going to get it when other teams have to risk not being able to keep him long term. A 2023 1st in the 13-20 range is better than a 2024 1st in the 20-32 range (what you would get at the 2024 TDL), a cap offset (Dvorak) is the same as a cap offset later and a prospect with top 6 potential is the same as what you will also get at the 2024 TDL. All this to say that the package above is actually better than what you will get for PLD as a rental at the 2024 TDL since the 2023 draft is way deeper and the Florida pick will be higher in the draft than any playoff team's pick in 2024.

In case you didn't see few articles around the web, Pat Brison (Dubois agent) don't stop saying Dubois want to play with MTL and don't want to resign for more of 2 years and be UFA and choose is own decision. By doing that he's reducing Dubois value because other team won't wanted to pay high price for a 2 years rental knowing they would loose him anyway.
If Dubois really want to play in MTL as is next contract them MTL have only to wait two years and offer him a contract when he's UFA. Right now Dubois have all the card in hand and could really force jets GM to do is work on certain term.

The only problem is that Trouba won't waive for a Canadian city. He's got a full NMC until 24/25 and then its a 15 team.

From a point of neutrality, this seems really good for both sides. Solid relief guy for Oettinger, plus Petry to replace Klingberg, and for MTL to get a pick and a prospect in a cap clearing move is always beneficial

They have Heiskanen and will lose Klingberg this offseason. Dallas’ GM already said getting a RD is number one priority this offseason. Plus they have a good amount of cap space and have Khudobin’s contract Habs can take back.
I don’t think Philly is a good option because they have Provorov, Ellis, Sanheim and just paid Risto plus they have York waiting in the wings.</div></div>
Yeah don't see Philadelphie been a big player in the Petry trade but there was so much rumor about this team that I just included it.
Personally I think Dallas would be a good fit for both team they need a RD after the lost of Klingberg and MTL could get a good result in return. Taking a bad contract could help also and Dallas have plenty of them.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dom1422</b></div><div>In his last 40 games under St. Louis he had 25 points, a 51 point pace. We all know the issues with Ducharme and being away from his family in the first half of the season. He is the exact same player he’s been his entire time in Mtl and teams know that. There will be plenty of interest. Teams actually want him, so they’re going to pay the price to get him.</div></div>
I know but what I mean is that he performs better knowing that there a bigger defensemen before him exemple with Weber. When Weber was injured and would miss low amount of game Petry took the #1 spot with some good work but when Weber was missing a long period of time Petry could perform on the long term with big minutes every night.
That why I was saying Dallas or Philadelphie or Detroit would be good destination because there would be someone else before him who would be able to play against the best line/duo of other team and leave more specific time play or situation to Petry.
Dallas have heiskanen, Detroit have Seider and Philadelphie have Provorov to take the pressure and leave Petry to play at ease.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dom1422</b></div><div>I’m thinking because Detroit needs to get more sound defensively. If all you’re giving up is Fabbri why not do it? It doesn’t have to be a long term option but it can help them start to take a step forward in the rebuild process. Dvorak will win 55% of faceoffs, is a big upgrade defensively and you don’t really lose too much offensively either. He would still be the 2nd best C on Detroit. I’m just spit balling though, not a wild proposal I don’t think.</div></div>
Yeah but the problem isn't with Detroit's forwards the left side of the defense Detroit's youngest LHD last season was 29. Fabbri is actually pretty solid defensively and Yzerman just gave him a 3 year extension. Fabbri tore his ACL and might not be ready at the start of the season and since Montreal gave up a 1st and a 2nd for Dvorak. That's why I don't see either team making this deal.

Remember they lose even more after next season. You also have to pay boldy, dumba and you don’t have a goalie on the books besides say wallstadt if he’s the guy come the 23-24 season. I’d rather take high picks that could be guys that could come in sooner than later. Eventually you gotta also trust that you’ve developed your prospects. Beckman was set to make the jump last season, dewar played well last season, and also if you roll with Hartman, rossi and Erickson ekk as the top 3 centers then Freddy will be the center. I totally understand bringing a guy back that can fill shoes but it’s easier said then done. But I trust guerin to give this team a shot every year and he will get full value for Fiala! Fingers crossed for Holtz from NJ. Dream trade target!</div></div>
Maybe there could be a middle team who could eat cap money or/and take a bad contract from Minnesota to help over cap situation for a mid to late pick ?

This is actually a pretty well thought out deal, though I don't think that a first needs to go back from Philly. I think a 3/4 would get it done. MIN saves on cap while possibly getting more competitive with the pieces, and Philly gets a high end talent winger.
I think Philly fans might balk at this though thinking it's a overpay

I think it's a little much, but only because Minnesota is going to be essentially forced to trade Fiala.
Swap that first for a later pick like you suggested and i'd 100% accept that
