From a point of neutrality, this seems really good for both sides. Solid relief guy for Oettinger, plus Petry to replace Klingberg, and for MTL to get a pick and a prospect in a cap clearing move is always beneficial

After the season Boutique just had, i’d imagine Dallas has him considered as an untouchable prospect but I think this wouldn’t be a terrible return for them

Make it Stranges instead of Bourque and Dallas at least listens. Leave it as Bourque and Dallas declines

Well as a Stars fan the way I look at it is this, no Klingberg, fine no problem Heiskanen gets the first PP unit, Suter will be on the second because he always gets his way they had to play him with Miro because he thinks he’s still a PP guy and he gets his way. Petty would have to share that second unit with Suter further road blocking Harley. Petry is just redundant, a two way or defensive but mobile right is more what we need plus will fit under the cap better.

Oettinger can play the majority of the season don’t really need a great backup or 1B (if Allen).

We are a generally excited about players like Mavrik Bourque and not at all for Petry. The team needs to get younger and more ELCs on the NHL roster to balance the books. Boutique has potential to improve, Petry you just hope he can avoid aging. Petry could easily fall off a cliff play wise, the argument we always hear in Dallas circles about Klingberg’s age “his game will age well he’s not very physical” ha been disproven before, most recently by Keith Yandle.

I completely understand what you’re saying from a Stars fan perspective. Stars definitely should get younger, that’s the route I would go, but that’s not what’s going to happen unfortunately.

Dallas also is in win now that don't help going younger.
