Remi is a common guy’s name as well as a girls name in the French language. It’s origin is related to “oarsmen”.
Also, attributing feminine qualities to someone in a pejorative way is soooooooo last century. Hurry up and grow up.

They can probably flip Condon to a team that could use a backup and has cap space(Kings?) and clearing out the space is always preferable to getting LTIR relief, it allows for more flexibility.

Eugene takes on a big cap hit that will probably just be LTIR'd and paid by insurance. God bless the penny-pinching hellhole that is Ottawa if you're any of the 30 other teams.

Pittsburgh Penguins signed Zach Trotman (2 Years / $700,000 AAV)
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rebecca</b></div><div>I’m thoroughly impressed that 2 people can have such an INTENSE and detailed back-and-forth conversation about marginal AHL D-Men. I love me my AHL hockey and I think I can go off on tangents but wow, you guys give me hope that I’m not totally nuts.
Of course, the rest of the room is sorta staring, and starting to back away slowly. But I’m glad you’re having this conversation.
One thing I would consider is, by my math, with remaining RFA’s likely to be resigned, PGH will be at 48 contracts. Meaning they would have just 1 or 2 spots for incoming ELC’s (presumably they have a draft pick or two they want to sign). They’ve signed several verteran AHL’ers this off season. Not sure if it’s the best use of their 50 contract slots.</div></div>
This is what happens when the entire Penguins system either misses the playoffs or gets swept, mixed with being a season ticket holder in Wilkes-Barre for over a decade, combined with being out of a job and it being too hot to do anything outside during the longest days of the year.
Let me assure you that we are in fact totally nuts, and that's fine. If I counted right the Pens will have used 46 contract slots once all the RFA's they've qualified are signed, and Addison and Hallander will both come off that total if they return to juniors/overseas. Even if you assume Pittsburgh is going to keep Jarry and carry three goalies there's still room at add to the AHL and NHL teams.

Thread:
(ARI/COL) - Connauton and 2020 3rd round pick for Söderberg
Ian Cole and Erik Johnson are both penalty killing dman for the Avs who may miss the beginning of the season after off season surgery. Johnson for a shoulder and Cole for both hips. Connauton can play the PK. He does not need to be a workhorse, and for his contract and status, he won't be expected to be. The Avs leveraged what they had for some blue line insurance.
As for Soderberg, he will be able to get back to 3C position that seems more natural to him behind Stepan and Dvorak and the Avs can open up ice time for Compher and Jost down the middle. Also, as much as much as I like Big Ole Carl on and off the ice, he will turn 34 in the first month of the season, so maybe a role step back will be a good thing for his productivity in a contract year.
There really is no loser here. Both teams and players got what they needed.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Brian2016</b></div><div>I'd probably make that trade right now, but I'm not sure EDM is willing to abandon a #4 overall pick. Has EDM drafted poorly, or what? Take away McDavid and Hall, two obvious #1's, and you're left w/ a lot of underachievers.</div></div>
It definitely seems like they have drafted poorly ... but I think they're worse at player development than they are drafting.
Almost all of their 1st round picks are immediately thrown into the fire and expected to be a savior ... then they're under so much pressure to produce that the rest of their game doesn't improve until their like 25 (or at all). <strong>Examples = Hall, Nuge, Yakupov, Eberle, Gagne, Puljujarvi, Schultz.</strong>

If he played out his senior year at Harvard and hadn't signed with Carolina, he would have hit UFA status, making your point moot. You can't force players to sign contracts, and he is well within his rights to make his own decisions regarding his future, a la Jimmy Vesey, Cal Petersen, etc.
I guarantee you wouldn't be so upset if a Toronto-born player pulled this same move so he could sign with the Leafs.

Arizona Coyotes signed Jordan Oesterle (2 Years / $1,400,000 AAV)
Oesterle has looked strong over the past couple of months playing for and getting prime minutes for an injury-riddled Coyotes team. He has taken advantage of an opportunity and is reaping the rewards.
The Coyotes secure a 3rd pair LD with the demonstrated capacity to play up the lineup and on special teams for the next 2 seasons. When they’re healthy next year their blue line could be sneaky good with a strong cohort of experienced veterans - Hjalmersson (32), Ekman-Larsson (28), Goligosky (34), Demers (31) - emerging talent - late-bloomer Oesterle, Chychrun, and Lyubushkin - and a strong cohort of prospects led by Pierre-Olivier Joseph.
