the Rebuild in stages

Hard to say on PLD, I think long term he's probably more open to anywhere outside of Wpg. IF Clg could extend him I don't see why Wolf wouldnt be available, yes he's a good prospect but goalie prospects are the likely the hardest to predict.

A lot of value getting moved from this team for not a whole lot of benefit. Dvorak 2C? Your guys blueline is not that bad. Morrisey is your guys #1 and he has plenty of years ahead of him to still be that guy. Not talking about value here, but I'm just not understanding the direction you decided to take with this ACGM</div></div>
They'd prefer NOT to trade Helly, but I'm predicting he wont resign, you can't lose him for nothing.

I like some of your deals. 88 isnt going to waive his NMC to goto the Hawks. Id avoid Parayko, I think a much better D man can be had via a Helly or PLD trade this offseason.

I think they have to be viewed through a different lens than other teams. The degree of difficulty in the Wpg market vs other markets is off the charts. Unless drafted (and that's still a big IF), almost zero % of players are willing to sign, or waive to be traded to Wpg.

He's a great goalie but expecting blue chip prospects plus multiple high picks for a single year of a goalie is crazy unless you're a contender that feels he's the missing piece.</div></div>
Let's assume its not one year and they use their 10's of millions of cap space on Helly, and they are very very close to being a contender. Again, we havent seen a blue chip goalie traded since Cory Schneider was dealt, and that was for the 8th overall pick at the draft. And he wasn't close to Helly's level.

This is a pre draft deal, after the season they have loads of cap space, I am guessing they'd like to make the playoffs next season. Why not hitch the wagon to arguably one of the to 2 or 3 goalies in the world, whos also from Michigan?

Good point, Jets would instead move him to the highest bidder for the one season before he heads to the Habs

Yeah you may be right, I think if Wpg can avoid moving Heinola at this deadline, they'll try move Pionk to make room for him. I could see them swapping him for someone with some term, Laughton is Copp or Lowry'ish, better than a 4th liner. But yeah maybe they try to get someone with some more scoring punch as well. Lots of options.

the start of the Jets reset
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>swinny</b></div><div>Interesting take.
Couple questions:
1. So you don't see Lambert being ready for 24-25? (I see him with the Moose next year personally) - I bet he plays a bit with Wpg at the end of the 23/24 season, regular by 24/25 likely.
2. Will ask the same question about Lucius, with the same thought process. - I think if healthy next season he's ahead of Lambert, and hopefully in line to be the Jets 2LC in 24/25.
3. Do you beleive that Perfetti will get reps at centre with the thinking he transitions? Or is he simply a better winger? - Doubt it, him and Lambert project to be wingers, I think he'll keep getting better though and be a consistant 70 to 80 P guy.
4. Does Barron in your view become a 2nd line power forward (that possibility exists) or is he a consistent 30-40 point guy on the 3rd line? - maybe, he'll get a shot and should be a middle six guy for 3 or 4 seasons.
I ask because depending on those thoughts processes, I am not sure a complete reset is necessary.</div></div> - I think its unavoidable, the dominoes will fall once PLD is dealt. Helly wont stick around when he can make 11 million and have 25ish teams after him, Wheeler will age out, but I think 55 will resign, and I think this team can do a 2 year reset kinda like what the Rangers did before Connor, Ehlers, and J-Mo expire and be right back in it if they collect the right assets.

I like the Blues deal, that's 2/3 of their 3rd line and I think both would be an upgrade over Barron and Appleton sliding them down to the 4th and making that stronger. I doubt the Jets would move a 24 1st with the offseason uncertainty. Most likely the 23 1st would be in play.
I dont think the Motte deal would be necessary if the Blues deal was a reality.

Overpays are the name of the deadline game. Rashevsky "absolute stud"?, "pleasant surprise" or "interesting prospect" probably more fitting. Again, look at the history of deadline deals and you'll see a trend of 1st round picks in exchange for even just good players, not legendary captains, who can still score at a middle six rate, and leads the NHL in faceoff %. Here's a couple of examples...Brendan Lemieux, a 1st and a 4th for Kevin Hayes, 2018 Vegas gave up a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for Tatar. Paul Stastny for a 1st and a C prospect.

I dont think this deal is "crazy", and aging middle six Andrew Ladd got traded for a 1st and a former 1st. Crazy might be a 1st plus another pick plus an A prospect like Heinola.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tsyls</b></div><div>Lowry should be moved to 4C with a Toews acquisition.
Also, I think paying more than a 2nd or 3rd is definitely reasonable and likely. But I’m not sure they get a 23 1st for toews. Perhaps if they’d settle for 24 1st they get one. But think it’s more likely they get a nice prospect who needs a change of scenery and a 2nd. Something like Heinola and a pick, or a different prospect and a pick. Especially considering toews has full control of where he goes.
Also as for the OP, jets will have ~9 million dollars in cap space at the deadline. So if toews is acquired at 5.25, you still have just under 4 million left to make other moves.</div></div>
Good points, I agree with all of it. Jets dont have a lot of picks and may not want to move that pick, so yeah Heinola and a mid round possibly would do it. That I think is why Toews is so attractive (O'Riley if healthy as well), you can reshape several lines by adding him. That cap space is fluid and its hard to exactly predict.

Just keep him and trade at the TDL when he's a UFA, should be able to get something for him with some retention which the Jets will be willing to do at that point.
