Jets need 2 forwards
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BigShoots</b></div><div>I have not heard that rumour but it surely doesn't sound right. Meier and a certified stud. Add another 1st and you're getting close.</div></div>
Timo had a slow start to the year, so that plus his $10M QO lowered his price tag but he's only gotten better as the season goes on, if he isn't moved soon the price is going to keep rising.

Jets need 2 forwards
Even if Meier does end up returning less than Debrincat, the Sens still gave up the 7th and 39th overall picks last year + a 3rd next year. One mid to late first and Stanley is just not enough for Timo, let alone 50% retained

Timo time
I get the want for Raty but I'd take that as the Sharks: 2 prospects, a first + a second, and a roster player with a decent track record who has hit a bit of a slump. Don't know if the Isles would be as willing though

Could bystedt make the jump next year
I wouldn't be shocked if he's in the AHL next year but I don't want to rush him. He's been so fun to watch this WJC, I'd love to just give him the time he needs to develop and see what the ceiling is.

I feel like the point of trading for Meier would be to keep all of your roster players? The Sharks would gladly accept this but I don't see it being worthwhile for the Devils.

Finish the Rebuild
Just genuinely curious, why wouldn't the Sharks just trade Timo directly to New Jersey if thats the return? I don't see the Devils giving up extra assets to send him through Buffalo, especially when the Sharks can retain on Timo themselves.

Bedard
Avs emphatically decline + Sharks and Panthers both decline. Also think that without some luck, the Sharks won't be down in Bedard territory. Picking more in the 5-8 range most likely. (But that doesn't mean I won't be crossing my fingers for Bedard or Fantilli lol)

I wouldn't trade Kaprizov for Marner 1 for 1 if I was the Wild and it isn't close. No knock to Marner, but KK is incredibly important to their franchise

Stanley Cup Push
Even if Meier's stock has dropped (it is still only 5 games into the season and the sharks as a whole are atrocious) he is an RFA, the Sharks aren't going to sell low on him. Sharks are going to look for a 2023 1st + prospects, even if the picks are going to be later because this is a deep draft and the Sharks need prospects now

trades for rebuild
I think all of these are unfairly and heavily lopsided for the Sharks. The only players on the Sharks roster who would return a 1st are Hertl and Meier, maybe Ferraro if he can add some more offense to his game this year. I get why people are scared of Couture's contract but getting the maximum value out of that contract likely comes from him finishing his tenure as captain of the Sharks, he won't be moved (and certainly not without any retention)

Worst contract team
If it's only one per team I'd rather put Vlasic over Karlsson even though EK65's contract is bigger. Karl has far more positive impact on the ice than Vlasic

Opening Night Lines
I think this is pretty close to what the lines will be on opening night. honestly with the way Grier and Quinn talked about the team they want to build, I wouldn't be surprised if Kunin starts the year in the top 6 with Labanc on the 3rd line. But I agree, they want to build Cuda excitement and build a winning culture through the whole organization so I see Eklund and Bords starting in the AHL before getting called up.

I think Sillinger definitely goes higher than he was picked but I don't think any of the top 4 picks would change, maybe even the top 5.

So far
I truly don't think anyone in the top 10 would change their picks as of now. Maybe it just hasn't been long enough but even if there are "better" players available, each pick seems to best suit the organization.
Edit: Aside from Tyler Boucher, lol Sens moment

Devils shouldn't and wouldn't do this. Half of the draw of acquiring Meier for NJ would be to play him on the same line as Hischier.

Overall pretty solid, though I think Seattle will be better than where they were last year. Adding Bjorkstrand and Burakovsky will help them leapfrog SJ, and maybe even Anaheim depending on Gibson's play

Cap Hell
The Sharks just traded a franchise icon and one of the most popular players in team history just to get out from <em>some</em> of his cap hit. There is 0% chance they'd give up a first round pick to get back a player with the same salary and an additional year.
