Well you just made us older, slower, and worse long term outside of Ehlers but I still think you overpaid for Ehlers/cap dump.

I haven't heard much from a Red Wings perspective on what they believe the plan is under Stevie Y. I've heard some say he would want to tear them down and collect draft picks because they are against the cap already and a bottom team. I've heard others say that only like Larkin is off limits and that AA will price himself out.

I don't feel like they have quite the leverage when they are so desperate to move cap and Subban is at 9M and clearly declining from who he used to be. Still a very good player but not who he once was.

Then why are you wanting to trade your best defensive prospect besides Hughes/Juolevi and a 2nd rounder for one of the worst defensive players in the league?

Risto is a 4 time 40 point scorer on an affordable contract... He has the 22nd best PPG of any defensemen in the NHL. He is worth more than a 1st rd bust and a 2nd rounder with a very above average defensemen as a sweetener.
You could get Bogo for Virtanen with some picks to equal it out but Woo is not worth Risto. For Risto it would have to be like Risto for Horvat as the basis from our perspective. We only would move Risto for top 6 forward proven help.

If they want to not pay Trouba 7+M but keep Morrissey, Chiarot, and Niku for about the same dollar amount as just Trouba... It makes sense.
IMO, Ehlers is kind of underperforming for 6M AAV. Sam Reinhart in Buffalo had similar numbers at half the price. Maybe they move it? Who knows.

He was 3rd pairing all season in WPG. I LOVED Myers when he was here first but this is just terrible.

REALISTIC? Trade with Anaheim + More
No way does EDM get anything of value back in a Lucic deal. EDM will probably have to trade their 1st next year along with Lucic for someone to take it like Detroit had to for PHX to take Datysuk.
Also, Maroon taking a discount from his AAV last year to play for EDM again???? A 30 year old with his last chance at an NHL contract of value? No wayyyyyyy. At least 4-4.5M AAV he'll get.

Buffalo Blues
As a Sabres fan... I don't hate where you are going... but I think Buffalo could get much better for ROR. I know a lot of people have talked about Schwartz for ROR straight up. ROR for Hanifan in CAR.
I'd do the Lehner for Allen deal every day.
Fabbri had a career jeopardizing injury, Tage is potential to be a 2C, and Foley is a big unknown. The 1st being like 28 when we own 32 is kind of not as big of a deal. I'm a bigger fan of Barbashev than those prospects named here.

Where does one begin to fix this
Buffalo takes arguably one of the worst contracts in hockey for Weber who's coming off of a torn tendon plus Shaw who is incredibly overpaid which actually together is a bigger contract than what we are giving away in ROR.... but Buffalo gets a 2nd rounder?
That's gonna be a HARD pass.

It's a joke bud. And no... no he didn't. Eichel almost always had Okposo or Sam on the right. Sometimes the left was a toss up but much of the last year and this year he had Kane on the left. Then after the trade it got bumped around a bit.

Ottawa... STL.. How you guys doing?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pawnjohn</b></div><div>The blues trade makes sense value wise, but I don't think the blues could stomach it. Schwartz is a 55-60 points winger before we acquired Schenn and is looking like a 65-70 point player with him compared to ROR 60-65 center. Schwartz has an injury history that is a little worrisome (seems to always have a freak accident), he is one of the very few "drivers" we have on our team. Obviously ROR plays the harder position, but with the chemistry Schwartz & Schenn had, they were both 70+ players, and Schenn didn't look nearly as good when Schwartz went down. While the blues are deep at LW now, it's because we have Schwartz anchoring the top slot. Without Schwartz, we have a declining Steen, who while still is a solid top-6 LW, is trending down; and we have a huge question mark in Fabbri coming off 2 ACL surgeries.
We have a bunch of LHS LWers in the system, but none project as sure fire top6 players, and none nearly at Schwartzy's level. Kostin could be a top6 option in the future and is LHS, but he is a still a question mark and plays more on RW.
While having ROR-Schenn down the middle would be a solid 1-2, I don't think significant drop in our LW depth would be worth it. If schenn turns into a 50-55 point center without schwartz instead of 70+ with, then it is going to look really bad, not to mention if Fabbri doesn't return as a top6 player or Steen's declines even faster.
Looking at things more deeply, I don't think there is a way the blues can trade for ROR without opening a huge hole somewhere else. It is likely going to take a deal like the above Schwartz+small add, Parayko, or Dunn ++, all of which either open a huge hole that we are not ready to fill (Schwartz/Parayko) or open a hole and deplete other important aspects (Dunn++). While he may never reach the level of ROR, we also have a promising Center prospect in Thomas who projects as a top6 center. The blues would probably be better off looking at a lesser 2C and see what they have in Thomas, instead of opening a huge hole for a 1C like ROR to play him at 2C.</div></div>
Well thought out. Thank you for the response.
It is often said that a good fair trade is one that both walk away slightly unhappy and that would be this scenario IMO. Looking at Schwartz and ROR head to head their numbers are almost identical actually. ROR has more of his production on the PP but is credited with more work towards the team's overall goals. As a center that is expected.
I'd happily take Parayko though too. Haha.

Oh my.... I mean. Winnipeg would literally laugh you right off the phone with that. A 29th overall pick and a back up goalie doesn't push the scales.

This trading ROR thing is also just chaos. It's not going to happen just because he was being honest with the media about being on a last place finishing team 3 out of 4 years. His contract is huge... I guarantee they'd get low-balled for it any way. And don't you dare throw Risto under the bus then! lol.
