Good catch - Too lazy to edit it out, but they could provide a 5th or a 4th from another year instead.

Could easily be any team but yeah, I am familiar with the Canes and how reserved they are when it comes to trades/picks.

Graves though is close to a position of need. Only problem is leafs also struggle with moving puck on the back end. That is why they signed klingberg which was a colossal failure. Depending on other moves the leafs do, this is a deal that makes sense for both.</div></div>
By watching Graves this year, I don't think he works with an offensive-minded D-Man like Karlsson and or Letang, but I could see him doing well if he playing with somebody who is more of a two-way D-Man

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AStovetop</b></div><div>I'm curious from Pens fans, if the Pick is in the 7-10 range do you think they just let SJ have it as to not move an unprotected pick next year?
If they do defer the pick, I'd think they'd go all in for Free agents that try and make that 1st as late as possible (also for Crosby's sake)</div></div>
From my understanding, if it is within the Top 10 their 25 First-Rounder is defaulted to SJ, but somebody else can clarify that.
As for CHI fans, thanks for letting me know about their prospect pool. I had thought maybe they could use another D-Man, but I wasn't sure how deep they are. (Maybe a team like SJ who has multiple firsts may look to facilitate such a deal)

I mean it could be any team willing to eat up over $4, mil in cap this year and a little over $3 mil the next. (as somebody would look to take on Dreidger's contact)
I had thought of either CBJ, CHU or ANA as the facilitator for the trade but saw CBJ a better fit given that both the Ducks and Hawks will want their retention slots whenever they decide to sell closer at the deadline.

I didn't realize there was a certain cap hit needed in order to use the second buyout window. Not that it really matters in the grand scheme of things as he would either be on the fourth line for a limited amount of time and or in the press box in this scenario.

Yeah the idea was to buy him out just so he isn't on the roster anymore but they would need to eat his whole salary for this season. If they were to do this (which I doubt they will) the Pens would need to be certain that their buy low signings are better options instead of Carter.

Yeah, I never thought that Grandlund would be a viable option for BUF but wanted to find an alternative means to get rid of his Cap instead of buying him out even though that would most likely be the route the Pens will take should they want to get rid of his deal from their books.

I wasn't too sure about the swap and after seeing many people putting POJs value close to a 3rd and Robertson's at a 2nd I thought it would be fair value.
I mainly did the trade so that the Pens could bolster the AHL roster instead of getting a few pick.

Wont happen but would be nice
Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure regarding the Buf trade seeing that many fans had looked to move Middlestadt on the cheap before so I thought this could have been a Skuds for Dailey type scenario but seeing his current production, the trade wouldn't make much sense.
As for the Stl trade, the Pens will need to shed some cap and seeing that the Blues are likely going to be sellers now, they could take and flip Dumo (even Blueger) for additional assets if they wanted.
I'd prefer to allow both POJ and Smith get a chance as full timers and the additional cap flexibility allows the Pens to either resign and or bring in additional support next year without having to do cap gymnastics. If they want to spend to the cap, then sure they can go for it but there doesn't seem to be a need to bring in more money in at this point. (Especially how Rextall has paid some current players who are stuck on albatross deals)

Getting Some Kap-Space
I'll be honest. Idk if there are replacements available that would offer immediate assistance and I don't like the idea of a bandaid solution like a player for player flip.
At this point, I'd much rather have some of the younger Pens players such as Poulin, Pus, Smith and Co get their changes with the big club.
I also belive the Sens are better then what they have shown this year but one glaring issue has been their D core and their defensive structure and even if Dumo is a rental, he could at least eat minutes and not have the younger sens players caved in on a nightly basis.
In terms of picks, I don't think the pens would ever sell low on either players given how highly GMRH thinks of them that's why I picked 2nd rounders that are expected to be on the lower end of the draft but it were up to me a 3rd and or a 4th would work as well.

Wash Rinse and
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>Well let's start with one reality... It's HIGHLY unlikely the Pens move Marino despite what you see on here.
Matheson is not getting moved and if he did, he's no longer a capdump. He has become a valuable player. He's put together two very good seasons.
If Marino were to get moved it would depend on what the Pens are trying to accomplish. If it's futures? He gets a 1st + good prospect without blinking an eye. If he gets moved in a hockey trade, it's probably for a top-six forward.
Compher doesn't get it done.</div></div>
I don't think the Pens are in a position to trade Marino only to have to find an immediate replacement in FA and or via trade. If the Pens are trading out money it will most likely be a Cap Dump and or shed salary on their Left D. (Dumo / Petterson)

While I do not think the Pens have sufficient assets to get a deal like this done, it will be interesting to see how the Hawks handle the rest of the off-season as they have done a terrible job so far.
Chicago may be backed into a corner and forced to accept a "bad" deal for their aging stars if Kane and Toews end up asking for a trade out of town.

Just an Idea
I will be honest, I am not too fond or expecting any of the Pens prospects to do anything with the big club. (Outside of POJ) I do hope I am wrong and if there is a chance that one or more can come in and make an impact would only add to the trades that the Pens can do throughout the season and be more competitive.

The only reason why I chose Vegas as a trade partner was over the fact that there were rumors that they were looking to shed some salary at some point and finding a way to make them younger and cheaper seemed like a reasonable idea.

Yeah, IDK how to value MP tbh. The Pens seem to like him a lot but at the same time, he is stuck behind Dumo, Letang and Marino. He could definitely be part of the Top 4 but just thinking of potentially losing him for nothing to Seattle seems like the wrong course of action and hopefully, they can maximize his value before then.

I was unsure of the Ducks' goaltending situation and their depth. (not a team that I watch too often TBH) That being said, I decided to revert the trade until a better suiter comes along to try and find a home for Riikola and or Petterson.
