Probably. Frost is a bigger than Rossi so he'd check that block that Guerin apparently is after but can he play top 6 center? I don't watch many Flyers games so no idea, but if his ceiling is a 3C than he's a bandaid for next season and the appeal would be the draft pick which Colorado's will likely be in the late 20s next year unless they get slammed with the injury bug. Neither seem like they'd help the team in the long run more than Rossi might be able to. Getting pick #12 in this draft could be a chance for the Wild to either add 2 more prospects to their pool or package them to try to move up.
Again, I'm not familiar with the Flyers. Is their prospect pool in a position where they could give up a 1st this draft to bring in a young center still on his ELC?

Not to mention Guerin wants the team to get bigger and this does the opposite. Easy no, though I'm sure Luke would love to come back to Minnesota as long as his wife Sophia is playing for PWHL Minnesota.

Habs win 2OA and go wild
There is no universe where the Wild give up #13 overall for that. Guerin made it clear he's happy with their defense if it can remain healthy, rumors are they're in the market for a top 6 LW and that's about it. They'll keep their pick unless they use it to trade up, like packaging it with Gus to get NJ's pick or something.

If his track record is anything to go on, he'll take his front office staff golfing on July 1st, they'll play paintball on July 2nd, maybe play some ultimate frisbee on July 3rd, take the 4th off to spend time with family and then see who's left to offer deals to on the 5th.

That's a no from the Wild. While they're apparently shopping Rossi, they're not going to move him for an extended player that will turn 34 the year the extension kicks in.

It'll be interesting to see who they end up signing this summer. They definitely need a winger who can immediately be a top 6 contributor, but given the prospects they have that hopefully will be challenging for spots in the next couple years, they really can't sign anyone longer than a year or 2. Toffoli probably would want some term, so basically you're stuck with either an aging veteran willing to sign for a year (the Perron rumor makes senses in that context) or a reclamation project (which obviously is no guarantee of being that top 6 contributor they need).

Leaf trolls here is the only way to get rid of Marner
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>draft_em_sign_em_trade_em</b></div><div>And with fans/media/team mates/management are making it obvious that Marner is not in the Leafs long term plans, any team that desires him can and will wait until July 1st 2025, unless Marner gets a cash dump trade with zero value. Or requests a trade (unlikely).</div></div>
Marner getting to pick where he'd potentially go does likely limit what the Leafs could reasonably expect for a return, but I think you're wrong in suggesting there won't be a GM wanting to make a splash this summer that wouldn't give up some assets to make their team better immediately and then have the potential carrot of being able to offer an 8th year if Marner's camp is now open to that idea. GMs don't often wait for a player to hit UFA status if they can land the player they want now, especially if that GM is starting to feel their seat get warm.

Sens Offseason
I don't see that being something the Wild consider.
Middleton is pretty much exactly what they need in their defense at a good cap hit and they should be trying to get more guys like him. Giving up a 1st and other picks for a move they don't really need to make when they should be looking for a top 6 LW seems like a bad idea. He's definitely not a guy that needs to be dumped for cap space, they're not as cap strapped this year as people on this site seem to think. lol

So play him on a scoring 3rd line. He's fine for $2m for only 1 more year, I'd think he'd be extra motivated in a contract year.

Strong possibility the Wild just keep Gus and roll with Flower/Gus for another year. They don't seem to be in any hurry to move on to Wallstedt, so giving him another year in Iowa while calling him up a few times isn't the worst idea ever for a team that isn't contending next year.

They were never going to be the most active team this summer, since most of their roster is pretty well set and they'll need to start thinking about Faber and Rossi's extensions the year after which will eat up a large chunk of the buyout dead cap they get back. Extending Zuccarello, Hartman, and Foligno so early gave them clarity on what they'll need next year with some space for a couple rookies to fight for a spot. They'll probably just be in on any bargain 1 year deals the week after free agency opens.

Honestly I'd be more upset about the 3rd round pick and taking on $2.4m for a 4th liner for another few years over Beckman, who more and more to me just doesn't look like a guy who is a NHL player. Idk.. maybe he needs to go somewhere else to get a fresh start but he hasn't done anything to stand out really.
But yeah.. $2.4m for a 4C? We don't need one of those, we already have a Gaudreau at home. ;)

I could see the Wild trading Gus if they decide Fleury/Wallstedt is a better tandem to roll with next year, but I really don't see a scenario where they trade Middleton unless they're out of it at the deadline and can move him then for a good return.
Or they'll just extend him anyhow at the beginning of the season and skip the whole "finding a sucker GM to overpay on a pending UFA" since that seems to be Guerin's thing.

Agreed. The trade just recreates the problem they have now where in the next couple years, players like Ohgren and Yurov are going to need roster spots and they're loaded with veterans occupying those spots. Giving up a 1st round pick for a rental is dumb if you're not a legit Cup contender and extending them would be short sighted IMO.
