If the cost of Gus is a 3rd I think the Sens would do it. Not sure if Chicago wants another goalie~

Jonathon Marchessault will get closer to $7,000,000 per

Patrick Kane isn't signing for no $3,000,000 and sorry the Wild aren't a cup contender just yet.

I'm not a Wild fan, but buying out Johansson just seems a really odd thing to do. Especially when you don't need the cap space for this roster.

Why are you buying out Johansson, he only makes 2mil and still seems like an effectice 3rd liner based on his stats.

Johansson can't play a bottom six role. He doesn't compete in the hard areas of the ice. He's not good enough on this team to play in a top 6 (see his stats from this year).

I think in the Hawks' case, it depends on how they're thinking about Soderstrom. If they think he's not going stick going forward, this proposal (IMO) is a reasonable price for the Hawks to pull the trigger on a bonafide, young, NHL goaltender...

Have Mrazek and Gus be 1A and 1B for a couple years; then, Gus and Commesso be 1A and 1B for a time; and, finally, Commesso and Gajan be 1A and 1B for the reborn Hawks.

Mrazek has shown me that having good goaltending is more important to the Hawks rebuild than I thought. (Indeed, an argument could be made that Mrazek has been the co-MVP for the Hawks this year...) With him in net, the young Hawks got to experience and learn from close NHL games they had no business being in - despite being grotesquely outshot almost every game. Without him, they probably would have been routinely blown out, which may have been MUCH more demoralizing - perhaps, even damaging - to the young Hawks' development.

I agree with this completely. I'd be happy if the hawks made this move

I'm with you on this one. Seems this ACGM just divided our fanbase.

Whoops, yes; thx. Was recently considering whether the Hawks might trade for RD prospect, Victor Soderstrom, and, well, my old age conflated the two! {;- )

A guy with a very affordable contract who has bee lights out for a lot of his career and has just been bad this season... Idk. I'd take this bet. If Mrazek is any indication, CHI has a knack with helping goalies rebound. If Gus rebounds, he could stabilize the net for a while in tandem with Mrazek, and possibly be a lucrative trade chip down the road. Or maybe some team comes knocking about Mrazek with an offer CHI can't refuse and then we need to replace him.

I'd be thrilled if the Hawks signed Marchessault for two years at $8mm - $10mm AAV, so Bedard would have top talent to play with, and learn from, while our kids develop - prior to his (Bedard's) ELC expiration.

So play him on a scoring 3rd line. He's fine for $2m for only 1 more year, I'd think he'd be extra motivated in a contract year.
