Hawks aren’t paying for players. They’ll just go to free agency to get someone of Palmieri’s pedigree.

Nope. Hawks aren’t doing that. That’s not a great way to weaponize the cap.

I think you are being way too optimistic about player development timelines and the odds that they all achieve their potential.</div></div>
Maybe… but I didn’t say they were Cup contenders. I said they’d push for the playoffs.
Dach is likely to be an NHL call up next season so 2 years from now it’s not out of the realm to think he’d be 4C in 2 seasons. Same for EDM and Allan who will likely be NHL call ups next year. Moore will sign after next year’s college season ends. Rinzel maybe stays in college another year but he took a huge step forward this year. Commesso is only one that maybe isn’t going to be ready otherwise.
The top 4 pick this year is either Celebrini (nhl ready now), Levshunov (1 more year old college then NHL ready), Demidov (already playing in KHL as 18 year old), or Lindstrom/Eiserman who will be ready after next season likely.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GiggywithGibby</b></div><div>I guess the real question is, will they be competing while he's still on this contract? They kind of reset the rebuild counter to zero for Bedard by selling anything young that wasn't bolted down in DeBrincat and Dach. There's a couple pieces taken after the first round since then that are working out (case in point this contract) but there's a serious lack of depth in the pipeline in Chicago. It's going to be years before they're knocking on the door of the playoffs, even with Bedard.</div></div>
Expect the push for playoffs to start with the 25-26 season. By then this years top 4 pick, Commesso, Nazar, Moore, EDM, Allan, Rinzel, and Dach will be NHL ready to join Vlasic, Korch, Jones, Reichel, and Bedard. Plus maybe a huge FA signing or two.
Then you’ve got all these 2nd and 3rd round picks they’ve accumulated filling the AHL pipeline like Slaggert, Rolaton, Lardis, Ludwinski, Savoie, Misiak, Marcel… gotta imagine even if 1-2 of those hit you’re doing a great job.

Not so sure Raddysh comes back. He was statistically one of the worst players on the team. You’ve given too many years and dollars to Reichel as well. He may get 1 yr $850k to prove he is an NHLer.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>exo2769</b></div><div>You do realize that he played the #1LD role the entire season and ended with playing 25 min a game and had the highest DPS on the team including veterans like Seth Jones and Connor Murphy. They eye test proved it too. Went up against the hardest opponent's night in night out and he played well.
Let's rephrase this from the MTL perspective. How pissed off were you when Caufield got his contract? He had what...120 games under his belt vs 97. They're both 2019 draftees. Being a defensive Dman is effort based, where scoring can be hit or miss. $4.6M per when the cap is increasing the way it will be is amazing.</div></div>
Not to mention put up more points than Korchinski who is supposed to be the offensive Dman. That comparison is not apples to apples but Vlasic improved on the offensive side as well.

Kaner showed he can still play at a really high level, so if chasing another Cup is his primary goal, he should have his choice of teams. Can't imagine any GM wouldn't be in on him. Agree. Kyle needs to be open to a reunion if Kaner is. Just can't see it. But who knows?</div></div>
I’m not convinced guys always want to go play for their hometown team. We love to see it happen but it’s pretty rare.

I hear ya about Levshunov. If drafted, in 2 years our D could look insane, see below. There’s also always the #19 pick from TBL. Could still pick up a quality F or RD at that spot too.
Vlasic - Levshunov
Korch - Jones
EDM/Allan - Rinzel
All of whom BTW are over 6 feet. Rinzel, edm, vlasic and Lev are 6’4” or taller too. Insanely big group of guys.

Amazing Draft
Moving up would probably involve TBL 1st which is 18 or 19 right now, CHI 2nd which is 34th, and possibly the Hawks 2025 1st top 2 protected. At least. In my opinion. Idk how that fancy points chart works though.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Snowhawk18</b></div><div>With all due respect, why the hell would they sign, Mete, Blueger or Blackwell?</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>Your takes on next season seem spot on. No disagreement from me. I'd pass on Mete and Blackwell. Think Hawks can get better players than them. I put Blackwell in the same boat as Reese and Macker. I'm over all of them.</div></div>
Mete just was a place holder for the scratch position. I didn’t want to sign a vet who plays 60 games a year just to be scratched and I didn’t want to use the 7th spot in EDM or Kaiser as I feel if they’re not play NHL they should be playing AHL. Sitting in the press box doesn’t help them. So I figured someone like Mete would be good. Maybe I’m wrong.
Blackwell also as you can see is in the scratch position but he can fill in 4th line for injury or rest. I think he’s done well this season given his injuries.
Bleuger is an improvement on our current situation so I don’t see the issue. Filling that spot with Macker or Dach would be a step back.

I wouldn't mind this trade at all to TBL for Raddysh. But if the return is a 3rd (which is probably best), might as well keep him due to familiarity, friendship with Bedard, and a possible rebound season. But either way is fine by me.

The chemistry he has shown with Bedard is undeniable and awesome. But, without someone elite on a line with him, he has also proven to be pretty ineffective. So, if some team comes knocking with a big offer that addresses needs, I think KD would at least consider it. I doubt anyone is untouchable, aside from the obvious few.</div></div>
Totally agree. I remember he was drafted and every time they had one of those prospects articles he was always tearing it up and he’s been my boy ever since. I think he probably came to NHL 1-2 years early. Glad he’s developing but yeah let’s not kid ourselves, he’s not an offensive threat. He’s a 3rd liner probably at best.
