Description
I went on a shopping spree which is EXACTLY what Davidson wouldn't do. But, maybe we can discuss a few of these signings? I tried to stick with the tried/true method of 2 years at $4-4.5M AAV. lol I'm not good at trading so I stuck with UFA signings. If I were to trade for someone, I'd like Reilly Smith and I guess I could've gone that route.

I'm over Reese Johnson and Mackenzie Entwistle TBH. Let's move on and get actual NHL players for our bottom 6.

I legitimized the top 6 with the return of Hall and added a solid, young DeBrusk for RW2.

I took advantage of VGK not having any money (AGAIN!) next season and took Stephenson who I love. Now they have money for JM to resign after his 42 goal campaign.

Victor Mete is a warm body, that's all.

If healthy, I think this team sniffs .500 but is below it and it's a top 10 draft pick team. This post assumes #2OA and I picked Demidov. As much as I want to legitimize our D with Levshunov, we have no elite offensive prospects. Moore and Nazar seem fun now but who knows. Don't tell me Demidov and Bedard are too small to play together because Kane and Debrincat.

Lastly, Nazar and EDM belong in AHL. Lets just see what we have in Nazar before we crown him and promote him too early.

I'm fine with Debrusk, or any mid 6 forward in that range really. I think Stephenson gets more money froma. contender, probably won't be in our price range and that is okay. Nazar and EDM will get NHL time, maybe full time if they earn it but probably a split between both so they can fill up those games. Agree with signing a Vet RD, although I don't think we need Mete. I would just resign phillips. I agree that we should move on from Reece Johnson but I do still think Macker has a place here. I think Nazar can take the Stephenson spot and Kaiser/EDM can split NHL time next year. Overall I like more of the ideas here though. I wouldn't quite go as far as being .500 next year but I expect some natural improvement for sure. Love Demidov at 2, but hawks need to be bad enough to secure one last high lotto pick imo.

With all due respect, why the hell would they sign, Mete, Blueger or Blackwell?

Your takes on next season seem spot on. No disagreement from me. I'd pass on Mete and Blackwell. Think Hawks can get better players than them. I put Blackwell in the same boat as Reese and Macker. I'm over all of them.

Mete just was a place holder for the scratch position. I didn’t want to sign a vet who plays 60 games a year just to be scratched and I didn’t want to use the 7th spot in EDM or Kaiser as I feel if they’re not play NHL they should be playing AHL. Sitting in the press box doesn’t help them. So I figured someone like Mete would be good. Maybe I’m wrong.

Blackwell also as you can see is in the scratch position but he can fill in 4th line for injury or rest. I think he’s done well this season given his injuries.

Bleuger is an improvement on our current situation so I don’t see the issue. Filling that spot with Macker or Dach would be a step back.

2 teammates alone don’t get you to the playoffs… it’s a team game.
