I guarantee they won't trade him, or anyone substantial for that matter. I think the Leafs <em>should</em> retool at the TDL, but it's not happening. We are going to stand pat and retool in the offseason

With the big 4 u got to go for it. Not as hard as last year but cant do the standpat thats been done already. Remind me, did Dubas go all in when Matthews hit 60? Or literally any year other than last year? It's very rare that the Leafs truly go all in.

I don't either, but enough Leafs fans on here seem to think otherwise that I figured it's at least worth poking a little fun. Boone and Jiricek aren't going anywhere, so the actual value is irrelevant. But...at a bare minimum he's definitely worth at least the Foligno return (1st and 4th), considering he's a center with similar leadership and grittiness qualities, at half the cap hit, 3x the term, and better production at the time of the trade despite playing 75% of the games.

Leafs fans liked using Holl as a scapegoat.

It's easier to blame 1 player rather than the entire team for playoff failures.

would rather have 2 centres on PP1; in case someone gets thrown out, especially bc JT there means auto win

Re-signing Bert...it would be interesting to know what he'd be looking at on a 3-4yr deal. If he goes off in the playoffs again demand will be up for him but maybe he's open to a reasonable number right now. Risk on both sides for sure

Rielly has been great this year...but we've seen how much better he can be when paired with a defensive d-man
McCable has been good....he's prone to turnovers when making cheeky outlets and sometimes pinches at inopportune times....but overall good
Lilly needs to keep on this projection....most nights he's just a solid presence
TJ has gone from one of our most reliable guys to someone you can't trust right now
Gio...I just think his body can't match up with his desire and IQ...still ok but another guy who has understandably taken a step back
Benoit...I love more and more...don't need him to have more minutes or responsibility but happy to send him out there every night</div></div>

Yeah, he and Marner will be in the same boat from now on IMO, they both will have similar contracts so the standard for them is to play to that contract

Honestly, if the number is 4.5 for 3 years, I'd pull the trigger... Bert does so much that you don't see on paper, but you'll notice come playoffs

Rielly has legitimately been a top 7 defensemen in the NHL this year... And he's not 7
McCabe's human though, he will make mistakes, but I know I can send him out there and he'll make something happen

Benoit's solid, which is good; means we don't have to replace him... But he's not a top 4 defensemen come playoffs IMO

Problem is we need a D to bump them all down - but there really aren't any top pair D available. Hanifin and Chychrun are the closest in that they might be able to play as a #2 most of the time

He made an attempt with Zadorov + Tanev just was a matter of retention that killed it. Cause while getting those two would not have been cheap got a feeling both would have been extended by now

If Brad goes and spends for Seeler + Walker gets them extended then thats fine

As those two would help fix some issues with this Dcore

I kinda disagree. To give up assets, in a "hope" of extending to me seems unwise. Those guys aren't getting eight years, so the all teams are really. on equal footing. So the Leafs would still have to give top dollar and term to extend them or sign them as UFA. I just prefer to go the UFA route.

Now before that I would make a trade to shore up this blue line and see how Keefe does

If its 4 wins or 3-2-1 in next 6 can argue not bad.

But if in these next 6 games they really **** the bag and Brad made a move got to consider moving on cause MLSE may force the issue and go get rid of him.

As in the end Keefe's not the main issue but hes up there in the top 3 rn
