Yet another top level Executive leaves within a year of taking the job. Something has to give eventually. If they can't convince new people to come in, and they can't keep the people they have, they're ****ed. League has to step in.

Prospects to Watch at Every Position
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kaifin</b></div><div>I'd love to see Bath on Anisimov's wing with Duclair. He was electrifying to watch!
Something I thought about after the Nilsson signing and reminded of when you brought up Hogberg is: How long do you see Nilsson staying (past his new 2-year deal) and who do you see taking the reigns if we don't acquire another goalie through trades or FA? I'd say it's Hogberg's 'job to lose' at this point, but I liked what I saw out of Daccord and I think he'll be ready in another season or two. I'm worried about Gus and hoping he can recover from last season and get through the growing pains of the transition to NA and return to his WJ and SHL form.
There's lots of talent in the pipeline right now and it's going to be exciting watching them develop!</div></div>
I think Duclair and Batherson could be magic together. They both can shoot, but more importantly they're both really strong skating and really good at cycling the puck down low. If you park Anisimov in the slot and try and get him the puck, he can rip it as well as anyone.
I think Nilsson's future depends on a few things.
First is obviously His play, because if he stinks he definitely won't be brought back.
Second would be how the Development of Gustavsson progresses. Ideally I think Gustavsson should be ready to step into the starter spot, or at very least a 1a 1b scenario with Hogberg, who I see as more of a backup.
Third, and maybe most importantly, is what happens with the Seattle Expansion Draft. The Sens would have to leave two of Nilsson, Hogberg or Gustavsson exposed, so it's pretty likely that Seattle would try to scoop one of those three. I think if you protect Gus and lose Hogberg, you probably bring Nilsson back to help prop up Gus for a season as he settles in as a starter. Hopefully Sogaard is ready to push for an NHL job by then.
Honestly though, Ottawa has such a deep crop of young goalies, there are so many options for what our goaltending situation could look like in the future. Hogberg <strong>will</strong> be a regular NHL goalie, even though I think he tops out as a back up, and he's probably going to start this season if Ottawa can move Craig Anderson at the deadline. I think Sogaard and Gustavsson both have pretty high upside as NHL starters. I personally think Sogaard is our most skilled goalie prospect, but he's still a good 4-5 years out. I <em>reaaally</em> love Joey Daccord, and would love to see him succeed in Ottawa, I don't really have a great sense of where he's at. I think we'll have a better sense after this season, but I think his upside could be as a backup.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kaifin</b></div><div>I think Andy is struggling just as much, he looked good before the Tampa and Buffalo games, but he's the third oldest goalie in the league at 37. Allen's 27(?). He's rock solid when the defence doesn't defecate all over the ice, but I don't think he can keep doing 60 games a season for the next 3 years until he's 40. I think he'd be a fantastic backup <strong>to</strong> Allen if he can find his game and take on most of the workload. I also disagree with the Formenton trade because we don't exactly have a need for Gagner as a 3C (Duchene - Tierney - Pageau/Smith/White) and we could package Formenton with another asset and potentially pick up someone better than Tanev. (Seriously, Vancouver needs him more than we do.)
Thanks for the evaluation, btw. I know nothing of Donato and Acciari, I've only heard about them (probably from Boston fans) that they were future Top6 guys in the next couple of years. Dzingel would absolutely put up 40-50+ points with Krejci and DeBrusk.</div></div>
Fair on the Allen-Anderson trade point. Im still sticking to the VAN trade as a multi-reasoned trade, with fair value. And I do think Gagner provides a platoon player position in the lineup that could be beneficial to OTT adding depth for a year and a half, and not rushing their multitude of prospects. I added Formenton as the guy that VAN would want back (but really a deal could be made with any prospect), because in 2 years a 3rd line in VAN that features Formenton-Gaudette-Virtanen could be scary good.

Formenton Heading Back to London
Love they are taking the proper approach and sending him back to London. Would love to see both Balcers and Batherson brought up to play and make McCormik/Pyatt/Paajarvi the healthy scratch until the Senes get a bit more healthy,
Also happy to see Burdgoerfer up in the NHL for the strict purpose of him being in the press box rather than a guy like Wolanin or Wideman.
Don't want the sens to waste any sort of draft capital or god forbid money on another back-up unless its McIhaney for like a 7th or something. Allow Anderson to play until he falls apart and hope that Condon rebounds or McKenna/Hogberg/Gustavson can take over as back-up. Would rather Gustavson play in the minors this year than expose him to our young D this year though.

How long until McKenna starts now that Condon's cleared waivers? A day in between the home and home with Buffalo. I think there's a chance Anderson still gets the nod. Not sure how long he can keep going like this.</div></div>
I'd go Batherson over Balcers. He's been the more impressive of the two, and we have way more options on the left side than the right.
McKenna should Start on Saturday. Andy deserves a break. Hopefully McKenna can at least hold his own, so Andy doesn't have to do everything. We need a backup who can be trusted with more than one start in a month.

Thoughts on a few guys
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kaifin</b></div><div>I'm loving what I see out of Tkachuk and Lajoie. Hopefully they continue to be <strong>very</strong> bright spots on this team.
What are your thoughts on DeMelo on the top pairing with Chabot? And where does Pageau slot into this team when he returns?</div></div>
I've really liked what I've seen from Chabot-DeMelo So far. The comparison has been made to Methot-Karlsson, but I think it's not totally accurate. Obviously Chabot has a more well rounded 200ft game than Karlsson did at that age, and while DeMelo lacks some of the Physicality that The Method Man brought, he's a better skater, has much better offensive instincts and is more capable of moving the puck on his own.
Also I'm not totally sure where Pageau fits in. It's surprising, but with how good Tierney and Smith have looked at centre, I'd be hesitant to move either to the wing. I think the most likely option is he slots back in on the second line with the old Dave Cameron special, Smith-Pageau-stone. I'd also consider moving him to the wing, which is where I see him long term any way once our young Centres move in. Maybe something like Dzingel-Duchene-Pageau or Boedker-Tierney-Pageau. I would probably go with one of the wing options because putting him at Centre and moving Smith to the wing pushes Tkachuk down to the 3LW which isn't ideal because he should be playing with Stone or Duchene.

Also TO would totally match that offer sheet. To successfully offer sheet Nylander, you'll be paying him over 8.5 million a year on a minimum 6 year deal. That would cost 4 1st rounders, which is why it just won't happen.</div></div>
could not be more false... they are offering him 6. Nylander's ask is around 7. So anything north of 7 is actually well out of the leafs ability

The Burrows trade was brutal, and always was. I don't care how many vets allegedly hugged Dorion for it. The Duchene trade on the other hand I will stand by. Given where the team was at the time it was absolutely the right move. They weren't going to give Turris that money anyway, and they looked like they were contenders coming off a big playoff run. obviously with hindsight it would have been better to just cut the Avs out of that deal, keep Bowers the 1st and the 3rd and just get Girard and whatever else the preds gave up for Turris.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kaifin</b></div><div>Rival fan here. I'd like to see this happen, except that OEL trade, he deserves better, but I cannot agree with you more.
I don't even know what to say. Ekman-Larsson plays for a young, underdeveloped (or bad, if you prefer) team, but he's a quality top-pairing defenseman. You've just bent Arizona over with that deal. You're also trading Krejci for Seabrook. That's 7 million dollars in one man until he's 39. I can almost guarantee you he won't be putting up a bunch of 40-point seasons when he's around Chara's age. Krejci centers your second line (I think?) and will probably put up more than Seabrook will. You also aren't stuck with Krejci's contract until he's almost in his 40s. Since the Ekman-Larsson trade doesn't happen (in any universe), let's say your Top 4 is Krug, McAvoy, Hjalmarsson, and Seabrook. Is that really an improvement worth sending away someone like Krejci?</div></div>
Yes, Krejci is the Bruins 2nd line center, and is still productive. While his cap hit is 7.25M AAV, a bit high, he's signed until 2020-2021. Over the course there, assuming no career ending injuries, I am much more confident Krejci makes it there being productive, than Seabrook will make it until 2023-2024. For the minor cap relief the Bruins get here, they fill a position that isn't a need in RHD, deal a solid #2 center and replace him with Spooner, who is less than ideal there.
