Fiala and Dumba traded to Ottawa
I’d have to agree that the Sens probably would never go for it but Wild should definitely say yes!

Yes they will definitely take a step back due to the loss of Fiala but they can’t afford to take back cap. Remember they lose even more after next season. You also have to pay boldy, dumba and you don’t have a goalie on the books besides say wallstadt if he’s the guy come the 23-24 season. I’d rather take high picks that could be guys that could come in sooner than later. Eventually you gotta also trust that you’ve developed your prospects. Beckman was set to make the jump last season, dewar played well last season, and also if you roll with Hartman, rossi and Erickson ekk as the top 3 centers then Freddy will be the center. I totally understand bringing a guy back that can fill shoes but it’s easier said then done. But I trust guerin to give this team a shot every year and he will get full value for Fiala! Fingers crossed for Holtz from NJ. Dream trade target!

As a Wild fan I’m not saying it’s a bad deal I just don’t think the Wild are taking back cap. Fiala will go to a team with cap space and send them a first and possibly a mid level prospect. Now the price could be driven up in a bidding war. Yes everyone thinks Minnesota won’t get as much due to not being able to resign him but I think they’ll definitely get great value for him. But I don’t think guerin trades him for anything less than what someone may sign him for as an RFA. His contract could range from 7.5 to 8.5 million. I’ve seen a lot of low ball offers on the Armchair GM pages but if someone thinks they’ll get Fiala on a contract for less than 7 million they’re mistaken. For that the Wild would probably keep him. But for 8 million no they really don’t have the space. But this is definitely a fair offer. Just don’t think they’ll take cap back. But I’m just a fan and not a GM lol

Somewhat blowing it up and building around young guys
Definitely like the idea of building from within the organization ROR isn’t ready, wallstadt will probably play one year in the AHL or if the season is so bad and he’s playing well down in Iowa they might bring him up to get some time. I don’t think they’ll trade 3 defenseman this offseason but I like the idea if getting rid of Dumba. I just have never liked him. He’s supposed to bring a offensive game but I don’t think he brings enough of that to overcome his defensive deficiencies. I hope Addison can prove he’s worth a spot on the roster otherwise I could see him traded. I think guerin expected him to develop and be better when he made the trade for him. I would think the Wild will resign Fluery. Definitely not DLo. He didn’t bring anything to the playoffs but truthfully he really couldn’t because we had to stay out of the box so his physical game was held back. I think they’ll chose to go more the skill route from within for the 4th line. I’d love to see Rossi, boldy and jost together. But I think they’ll give Rossi every opportunity to skate with Kaprizov which is great! But for how good of a season Hartman had I think they’ll continue to slot him in on the top line.

Keep fiala sell dumba
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>EccE</b></div><div>Signing Fiala will cost you a lot more than what Dumba is making. We can't fit Fiala's 8 million or so under the cap. Trading Dumba solves that issue for next season but after that it's going to become impossible to mavigate the cap. We should just trade Fiala now rather than try to keep him</div></div>
It pains me to say yes we trade Fiala but his value is at a high point. Trading dumba or fiala though doesn’t solve the cap. This team is going to have to rely heavily on these prospects to hit. After this next year I think the dead cap jumps to $14+ million. Not a lot of cap to hand out a huge contract to Fiala and I’d say if dumba even wants back I feel he’s going to have to take a lot less than his $6million. Personally I wouldn’t mind sending both out and paving the way for Addison to make the jump and then bringing Rossi up and maybe playing Rossi, jost and boldy on line 2. Line 3 stays the same, line 4 could be a combo of say dewar, duheim, and maybe a center down in our AHL or someone we maybe got back from the trades. Dmen would be Spurg, and then Middleton when they resign him. Addison and Brodin, Kulikov and merril with goligoski working in. Sorry I’m bad at spelling names but I guess in all we’re going to look at staying somewhat competitive but preparing prospects for the first year that the cap penalties are down to almost nothing. I think this team will still be decent and fighting for a wild card chance but we gotta face reality that we have no cap to try make moves to get higher dollar players in to win. Gotta win with what we have. Gonna be interesting for sure!

Potential Fiala Trade
Idk if the article I was reading was right but it was saying that if a team decides to offer sheet fiala instead of trading the picks come from this years draft so for NJ fans that think they’ll just offer sheer him will still give up the #2 pick. I don’t think guerin takes a 2023 first. I keep hearing he could be targeting someone in this draft. But either way we’re going to get good compensation for Fiala even though I wish we could keep him. Give us #2 or Holtz.

Well I doubt we’d get a pick if Holtz was available to us in a trade. He’s a very good prospect. Not their best but he’d be the best on a lot of teams. Hughes would be #1. But fingers crossed for someone good or a good pick. Everyone things we won’t get much but I believe guerin has the ability to get full value in trades. And he’ll create a bidding war

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoolHandL</b></div><div>I agree that Jersey probably wouldn't trade Holtz here since he's potentially elite and their top prospect, but this could be the kind of move Guerin is looking for - a top prospect who would be ready to contribute on an ELC soon (along with a 2nd or 3rd perhaps). The Wild cannot take back a roster player with really any significant cap hit due to the Parise/Suter buyouts.
Also it would be a forgone conclusion that whichever team trades for Fiala will have a handshake in place with him and his agent to sign a long term deal. In which case, it would lock him up for whenever the Devils start to compete for real.</div></div>
Exactly! Hit the nail on the head. It’s a tough trade to gauge right now because we don’t know who’s all in on Fiala. But if there are 3 teams trying to trade for him then a guy like Holtz is someone that will need to be part of the deal to get it done or the #2 pick.

First off Fiala is no a guy with one year left. He’s a RFA so if anyone makes a trade for him he’s signing a long term deal right away. Secondly, MN has to trade him. They can’t fit him in with their cap situation. Yes Holtz is a very good prospect but from the sound of what NJ wants is they want a forward to jump start their playoff aspirations. I don’t think they’ll wanna trade the #2 pick so that’s why Holtz is the logical guy

Cap hell year one Fiala out but minimal off-season otherwise
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Easportzz</b></div><div>Agree with most if not all of that. My homerized opinion Is that they can probably resign Middleton for less than his value (whatever that may be) because he is just giddy anytime he’s with the media on how much fun he had getting traded here and how he lived playing with the team.
On the Fiala trade, other iterations I’ve done I’ve proposed the 2nd OA pick but NJ fans want to put you in the trunk for such an offense. I don’t know propspecta as well as a lot of folks on here (especially those who are not with Wild), but thinking BG would have some fun picking through and finding “his guys” and these two dudes seem to play heavy.</div></div>
I totally understand. I think it’ll be a stretch to get the #2 pick from NJ but we could if we throw our pick in as a swap or a low level prospect. If we go with Ottawa I think we could score their first. I think fiala’s trade value will all depend who’s buying. Multiple will be great for the wild! They’ll get a kings ransom. Create a bidding war. I’m sure guerin will still sit fiala down and tell him what he could offer. If it’s not enough he’ll be gone before the draft.

Personally I feel if they trade for either an even better prospect or the first rounder. Wouldn’t be surprised if Dumba is shopped out. But I think it’ll all depend on how he would look at the year he is up for a new contract because the suter and parise cap hits go up further by another 2+ million. Does he want to cash in or does he want to stay on a friendly contract. But yes fiala is gone. Middleton will probably require 2+ million but he’s worth it! Kulikov was good during the season. He may be gone. But if they get rid of dumba I feel they’ll keep the rest of the defense.

Fleury is a proven goalie though. If we don’t go that way… what do you suggest. I am a goalie myself and I can see when someone has lost it and Talbot has absolutely lost his swagger. A goalie needs to have a little step in him and Talbot doesn’t have it right now. Kappo could be the answer… I just don’t know if you put your eggs in that basket. If they can get fleury for cheap then Truthfully I’d feel more comfortable going that route. Now any trade that involves our top prospects I say pass. Prospect pool is built well right now. They will help great dearly for the cap penalties coming but for this year…. We need a rental goalie that could carry us to the promise land.

You might wanna check your facts. Talbot never played for Vegas. And if you’re gonna say fleury is bad in playoffs you must not watch playoffs. The guy is a winner. Won cups with the penguins and brought Vegas to the finals in its first year as well as just plain old being a winner. He had a terrible start to this season but has come back a little. Stats can’t really be used this season with him playing for a horrible Blackhawks team. Give him something to play for and he’ll be ready to roll. Plus he’s been a teammate and was part of the team when guerin was an assistant GM for the Penguins. Kappo has been good but idk if he can be trusted for a long playoff run. If the Wild are gonna go for it this is the season. Next 3 seasons they will be in Cap Hell

I’m from Minnesota. If you’re content to just sit around and keep a mediocre goalie in net then maybe you should choose another fan base. I’m not saying we give up a first but I am saying we go for it all otherwise we could have a first round exit and not because we can’t put the puck away but because we can’t stop anyone else. The last goal by talbot tonight was awful. If you want to win a cup you need a goalie that will steal you games. Fluery can do that. Yes he’s not the goalie he once was but I’d rather take a shot then sit back and stand pat.

Oh I agree! Gotta give up something big and also enough salary to get guys like pettersson, hertl or Miller. I’d love to get pettersson but I’m hoping they lean toward hertl but also afraid they won’t be able to keep him after this year unless the roster is gutted and 3-4 prospects come up for next year. Miller, who isn’t a true center but can play, makes the most sense cause of his good contract that goes past next season. Hertl is going to command a hefty contract after this year. But I’m thinking the wild stand pat for awhile. Hot right now so they probably don’t wanna ruin that mojo.

Yeah for how much it’s be great to get Pettersson, I don’t think the wild are giving up Brodin. He’s second pairing defenseman but a #1 defenseman on most teams. I love his stalwart game. Beginning the year I though they’d let dumba go but I don’t see them letting any D-man go now. It comes down to letting greenway and fiala go. Rask also if possible but who the hell wants rask lol! I keep thinking maybe they’ll make a trade but it comes down to how much guerin and how much he’d have to give away to upgrade a position. Agreed! I really don't care about giving away Greenway. I wanna see what Rossi develops into. He's gonna get every opportunity to succeed. I'd say the reason they haven't pulled the trigger on a center would be to see where they stand with Rossi. We'll know more come training camp. Can he come in and compete for a 2nd or 3rd center spot or does he need time in Iowa. If it's the latter then I bet you could see MN making a deal for a center later. Money wise also makes sense to keep Rossi. We're gonna have to pay hertl $7-8 million annually to resign him. Rossi will save them a ton with the cap hell they'll be in. We'll have Rossi coming. Then khovanov and that other Russian kid coming eventually. Imagine if those guy pan out and we are able to get Kaprizov to sign a 5 year deal.

Yes but I'm really thinking Dvorak will cost them a lot. Arizona has him valued high! Schmaltz is good but he hasn't been since he got to Arizona. Change in scenery could do him well. And he is most definitely an improvement at center. If anyone thinks rask is better by all means give me a reason lol 🤣 but yes the one thing that I don't really like is his $5mill+ of cap hit. The wild need to find a move that can work with their cap hits/ dead money coming. With Rask's contract and this may be Greenway's last chance to show that he can be the big power forward he was supposed to be. I believe now next year Fiala, Kapo, Greenway all need new contracts next year. I see fiala and kapo coming back. Just not sure where the money is gonna be. They really need to hit on these prospects they have which I believe we have some good ones. Rossi, Boldy will be here this year or next year. Talks are duhaime is close to being ready. We might get a deal with goligoski for cheap. What if he made a heavier deal this year to make it cheaper one for us next year. But are correct cap is going to be tight!
