What does a Guentzel deal look like
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Kyle_Okposo_Lover</b></div><div>Aint no way you comment without reading the f----g descriptions</div></div>
The point still stands with an extension in place. Paying a 1st, a 2nd, QJMHL defensemen of the year, a 33rd overall pick, and a prospect who is near NHL ready is a wild price for a player who's upcoming contract would likely create issues when all the ELCs need extensions in the coming years. Guentzel is sick, but Ducks should not be selling that much for a guy who will be in the back 9 of his career as they reach their true compete window. Also the Ducks have negative demand for another LHD, even if he plays the right side, they do not need another defensemen who is shaky in his own zone.

Still selling at TDL but some light purchases too
If Pat doesnt want to spend any assets to bring in a proven top 4 RHD, then I think Peeke is the best alternative, especially at that price. I just think the Ducks 100% need to bring in a defensively sound RHD. Helleson could maybe slot in, but I just havent heard anything about him yet that makes me confident in giving him a look in a season where we actually want to win. I would rather be too deep at D because both of those contracts will almost certainly carry value and never cost anything to offload if needed. Liking the Wahlstrom trade too, although I will admit I have no idea what his value is. But if we can get a young, big-bodied shooter in the top 9 at the price of an expiring contract and a B level prospect, I send that everyday. Only deal I would maybe not do is the Stalock one, I think having him be the veteran third option is necessary because who do we have after him, Clang? But its a third string Tendy trade so it isnt too consequential. We could easily pick up another veteran guy to play in San Diego. Love the line combos too, this would be a fun team to watch.

Ducks are probably not interested in moving Gibson at all with how he is playing to start the season. I really like the tandem that we are running, Gibson needs more rest than he has received in recent years, and Dostal slowly increasing his number of starts is likely the best course of action as he is still pretty young. That said, everyone has a price but it is likely way higher than Detroit should consider. So unless you are willing to overpay to bring him in, he likely finishes the season (probably even his contract) with Anaheim

What is the plan for him though? Play Lacombe on the right side until Fowler's contract expires to make space? I don't know that his value will ever be higher than it is right now

The clear differnce between the two players is Anderssons contract that is outstanding and where he is far better than Hronek (Hronek will likely get $7M per (likely) at the end of this season, While Rasmussen will have two more years after this one at approx $4M). Consequently there will likely need to be a sig premium to get Andersson, over what Van paid. Likely 2 -firsts, or a First and a top prospect. In the Canucks case this would likely involve Willander.
It would also assume that Calgary's season has been a disaster for them to consider selling off assets like Rasmussen, which is far too early at this point to tell. If there is a sell off at the TDL, then its possible that Calgary considers a rebuild and starts selling.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ledge_And_Dairy</b></div><div>It will cost more than Chychrun. Chychrun asked for a trade so he was on the block, that's not the case with Calgary and Ras. You would have to blow them out of the water</div></div>

Alright, alright... All fair points, I think I may be undervaluing Andersson's value a bit here, so thanks for keeping me honest. If he costs more than these proposals, then it is probably not worth it with the Ducks current trajectory. Will be interesting to see how the season goes for both Calgary and Anaheim because I think there could be a middle ground there depending on their seasons. If Andersson gets frustrated with the Flames direction and asks for a trade, the Ducks should be calling immediately

That's a fair point. But Detroit was also not really entering rebuild territory, I think if the Flames decide to go full rebuild then they have a little bit of an easier time not filling Andersson's spot and embracing the tank for a couple years. Without Andersson though, their defense core is pretty rough

I would only sign Kane to a one year deal worth half that cap hit, and even then Im not sure he fits Cronin's system too well. Physical, hard nosed play style coming off of hip surgery sounds like a recipe for disaster. Dont think Kane would take that deal anyways, so I'll let Buffalo have him

We can't have him in SD because of the Q, so just send him back to the Q to get playing time and bring him to ANA or SD next year. Am I missing something?</div></div>
Assigned him to San Diego on a conditioning stint this morning. My guess is that he is down there as long as the rules allow it and then goes back to the Q. Im not overly concerned with him staying with the team for a couple weeks but I agree too much longer and it just seems kinda odd

I think so too. Either him or Fowler but I dont think the odds of the Ducks trading Fowler are more than 1%. Plus Zell isnt over 6 ft so you know what Pat is thinking. I'd personally prefer to see Fowler out but I also know that could be a hot button topic with the fan base

I would imagine that they would want a piece like Zellweger, a centre like Lundestrom, and a first. Now that may sound like a lot but you are getting a difference maker to be your #2-4 through the value of his contract.</div></div>
He is probably my top choice, his contract, age, and fit with the team are all pretty sound. I also wouldnt mind Pesce, but he is owed a new contract that may price him out. For Andersson though, we get two solid prime years out of him, can either resign him or let Noah Warren take the spot if he develops well enough. Keeps the flexibility within the team as they reach their true competitive window. Not sure I would be willing to part with all of Zell, Lundy, and a 1st but I also dont think that any of those pieces are off limits in order to bring him in.

What To Do When The Team Is Fully Healthy Read Description For My Thoughts
I agree with pretty much all of this except I would keep the Russians together on Defense and just ice all three pairs fairly equally depending on who is hot. They have a lot of chemistry together and I'm not a fan of splitting that up. I would also love to see Leason get promoted to third line and bump down Silf, but I think its probably fine either way. I think between those 5 scratches, Vaaks stays, Lundy probably bumps Carrick out of the line up giving one spot to Carrick, and the last one has to be BO Groulx cause I dont see a world where he clears. I think Johnston and McGinn would clear, and if they didnt it wouldnt be end of the world (although I have very much enjoyed Johnston on this team). Ducks have a plethora of quality bottom 6 guys, so I think a trade is likely before Lundy comes off IR. Its hard to gauge though because the Ducks are exceeding expectations right now and who know if/when that will end. I still think they are probably sellers at the deadline and the performance of all those guys is making a Rico trade a lot more likely

Looking like someone who can do it all on all 200 feet of the ice and play the #1 defenseman role on a cup winner (yes I am jumping the gun). He's physical, fantastic offensively, great skater, can make stellar defensive plays, he really checks all the major boxes. The defensive side could use a little work, sure, but I dont know a 19 year old rookie defensemen with his offensive talent who doesnt need to improve in that area. He really has no major weak areas, so his potential is HUGE. Hes just gotta continue improving the little things as all young NHLers do, but he has all the tools to be a Norris contender one day 100%

After the road trip
Not sure about having our three most natural goal scorers on the second line together, but with Z, Leo, and Terry meshing well together we are sort of low on top 6 playmakers to insert there. I'm interested to see if that top line sticks together all season, but otherwise love the idea of bringing up a Regenda or Nesterenko even, though maybe on the next road trip. I dont think any of our forwards are too worthy of being bumped out of the lineup this early on, the team has been playing really well thus far

That top nine looks pretty solid (and fun to watch) compared to what we have been forced to bear witness to the past few years. With Rico and Silf off the books after this season, leaves room for Lundy to fill the 3C spot. I actually really like this idea. and like you said, in three years we have half the roster coming off the books with lots of extensions due so it doesnt really cap strap us at all. Cronin seems to understand he needs to be used the same way Killorn was in Tampa, just because he doesn't get a touch doesn't mean he didn't contribute to the goal. Be a screen, cause chaos, jam at rebounds, just generally be a menace in front of the net to distract the goalie and the D so guys like Z and Terry can go to work. I'd like to see him replace Henrique in that capacity. His speed for a guy his size and general defensive responsibility I think would make him a good 2LW going forward. I think for a long time Comtois seemed like a better fit given his one breakout season, but now that he's gone, a 2nd like on Jones Zegras Terry in a year or two a time when we bring in another top RW would do well.</div></div>
I hope you are right, he is just such a fun player to watch out there. The Ducks could certainly use a net front presence in their top 6 so he could definitely see time there.

Watching the Butcher at the preseason game vs the Sharks, he is as advertised. I know he's a short timer, but I might just get myself a jersey.
Really, really happy with what I'm seeing out of Carlsson, this kid is going to be SO good. 90% the creativity and playmaking of Zegras in a 6'3" frame and a solid two way game.
As to the defenseman, well there's some work to do there on their own zone. The talent and speed is there, just need to understand when and where in their own zone better.</div></div>
Thought both Gudas and Jones looked good last night. If we are as bad as we were last year, we should at least be more fun to watch. Even last night, the Kings basically started their opening night lineup and we looked pretty rough in the 1st and 3rd periods, but the added element of physicality kept me interested.
Im a Max Jones sympathizer, but Im not so sure he will be a steady presence in the top 6. Just not sure he has the tools in the O zone to stay in a top 6 role unless we are injury riddled.
