No Leadership
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheLeafsSeason</b></div><div>43 year old Thornton and Simmonds as leaders? They both are washed up. If you want real leaders, look at Bergeron, Marchand, Maroon, Bogosian, or any player who won a cup. Tavares will never be a leader even if he tried.</div></div>
You heard it hear folks, Bogosian, who had never made the playoffs in his decade + nhl career is suddenly a leader now because he was the 8th defender on the best team in the nhl.

Trading William Bystander
Holl was 20 minutes a game player, a plus, and was the Leafs best RHD last season.
But again there is this fascination that other teams RHD are so much better than any Leaf players.
Gee, don't think the Leafs should trade 2m X 3 years Holl for 4.1m X 2 years of the current edition of Manson.
And Rakell, he's a 20 goal scorer and good value at 3.75m but only for the next two years. Nylander has room to grow, he was good last year and has four years left at 7m
Leafs would gain 1,2m in cap ....with the trade. But Leafs lose three years of control and lose on the ice.

Idk about simmonds being pencilled in to the top 6, but I think it's a likelihood keefe throws him out with the core 4 at times to get some energy going
otherwise though, yeah I like the lines

Nylander -gt Larsson
So the team that struggles more than any other team in the league to make a profit is going to eat 22.4m in order to pull of a trade.
Very realistic!
Also, Toronto says no.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheLeafsSeason</b></div><div>You think the Leafs have a chance of competing the Habs? Absolutely not. Our top two lines are better than the Habs and we still lost the three games we faced them. With the Habs improving on all parts of their team, we will be lucky to score on them. Maybe step aside from your Leafs bias and look at it from another teams view. As I started doing so, I noticed how bad the Leafs actually are.
Simmonds is a Clifford replacement, so the idea of being "tougher" is incorrect. Vesey is a Buffalo and Ranger reject, Spezza is old, and Barabanov is someone we don't know, automatically factoring him out of the equation</div></div>
vesey is a 15-20 goal scorer who brings size and competitiveness to the leafs bottom 6
clifford played like 4 minutes a night and was a ghost. spezza had more fights/hits than clifford did in the playoffs. Simmonds is a heart and soul player who can actually play hockey too
the games we lost to the habs were 6-5 and 5-2 with hutchinson in net. the closest game 2-1 OT we had campbell in net and rielly, johnsson, and mikheyev were out injured
with a healthy lineup we smoke the habs lol, when we were healthy we beat them 4-2 in the return to play

man Burkes really has done it now. Moving Nylander would not help the leafs.
I would only move Nylander if a team came and offered a significant overpay for him
In general you dont move a 24 year old 30 goal scorer.

How about the " I checked with the league again, and they still only award 1 cup" Joke. He pulls it out once a week during the season 3 times during playoffs.

What gets me about Burke is the hypocrisy. Here's a guy who ran the Leafs right into the ground trying to fast track things making mistake after mistake before he was fired by MLSE. Now he sits on his crusty a$$ and rips his former team every night. Funny how that works.

Amount of hate for wings fans? Try being a leafs fan.
Kerfoot to Detroit wouldn’t be a bad move but there’s no way the leafs are moving him at this stage. Devils fans said the same thing about Johnsson. How they didn’t need him, no one is giving up a first for kappy.... how about every redwing fan saying they don’t have any room in their roster for players then they add them in FA.
No comment on this trade... clearly the wings aren’t trading someone they just signed.

Kerfoot and Johnsson did just fine at 5’10 and I’m not saying Barabanov has to be Mikheyev, he’s just a solid third liner who plays a game very similar to Zach Hyman

I like the Holl trade from NJ's perspective. It's a low impact move that is an insurance policy for Conner Carrick who even when wasn't injured was underperforming and we have nothing in the pipeline outside of Reilly Walsh at RD.
