I'm glad you switched it up to say it like this now. Still think it is worth the risk, but I see your point for sure. You just have to try to upgrade in these next two years. Leafs are loaded up with wing depth, you have to do something and deal from strength if you can

Also, these are not major assets at play. Bracco is never gonna help TML, he needs to bring value our way through trade. And we have this glaring need for defensive dmen...

I hope so! I looked at the advanced stats, and Martinez is above 50% all day, even with slightly more d zone starts than o zone. Tkecanuck says he had watched him lots and says he is good, above average at most things. I'll go with that. Bring him in!
I agree with pleasebanme about Lilly, but this year and next I think veterans can really do something extra for the leafs. If they are good vets on reasonable contracts of course!

Nylander has delivered great advanced stats, and that should be the best indication of overall 2 way play. He sometimes strips guys of the puck, and seems pretty responsible at getting back. Not sure about "defensively" really. The goal for him has got to be keeping the puck/ playing in the o-zone when possible...

I think Dillon is a very good piece for the Keafs if they are interested in renting, and one of the most likely options to actually happen.
Bracco and a 3rd would be a good start, don't throw Moore in there! He is a nice piece to have, way better than Timashov or Marchment depth choices.
Do the Sharks need to retain to make this one happen? With all the in season injuries the Leafs have really saved on cap I believe. Reilly, Johnsson and Muzzin's stints in LTIR have opened up some space. So maybe nothing retained, and keep Moore? Throw in a Marlie maybe!

I like the concept for sure, well done.
But, this is giving up a lot for Martinez no?
I really like not renting, and having him for $4M next year. It worked well with Muzzin, who rightly yielded a larger return for LAK. Martinez represents a difference making addition to the team, and brings flexibility. But I think it gets done for less if Dubas really wants to go this route.
What about a 6th instead of that 3rd? Leafs have so many late round picks, it could be two 6ths!

Terrible team name, and terrible deals there bro!
Why in the world are you paying everyone so much, but Gauthier especially? He should be traded away at his current 700k, let alone resigned for twice that!
And Mihkeyev looks good for years to come, but he will not have proven much in limited time this season, unless he helps lead the Leafs DEEP. Dermott and Engvall are far from proving themselves worthy of these huge raises also, this is just ugly.

Yeah that's something like what I was thinking, maybe not greed, but irrelevant additions to those trades. The Leafs just don't need Nylander or Andersson to add to their crazy depth, once other guys get healthy. They have both been unfortunate busts so far in their young careers also, not performing close to as well as Engvall this year even. TML has got skilled wingers to spare, doing fine right now with Mikheyev, Johnsson, and Moore all out.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DaBus</b></div><div>Hawks would never do that especially with retained salary. A basis would be Murphy + Nylander for Kapanen, Ceci, 2021 1st. There is a premium on RHD, Murphy is playing well and has a good contract.</div></div>
I would jump on this deal if the Hawks retained the 850, but it seems they are squeezed against the cap with Debrincat getting paid starting next year. How about a 2020 6th and 2021 2nd? That might be fair.

Real solid trade frameworks here Trickster, well done. Comments have been fun, very Canadian of you to apologize so sincerely when you mixed up the Nylander brothers there!
At the same time, you are undervaluing Murphy and retained salary pretty badly. Remember that he is a top 4 RHD, currently playing more than 21 minutes a night. And for some reason the Hawks are gonna give two NHL players for one in this deal?
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DaBus</b></div><div>Hawks would never do that especially with retained salary. A basis would be Murphy + Nylander for Kapanen, Ceci, 2021 1st. There is a premium on RHD, Murphy is playing well and has a good contract.</div></div>
Da Bus I would prefer to lose Kapanen instead of Johnsson, and Ceci would need to be dispatched if bringing in Murphy, so your deal seems pretty close. If the Hawks were to retain 850-1M, I'd say the 2021 1st would be

I was thinking Vatanen for Ceci also, but with Timashov, Bracco and a 2nd to make it worthwhile. Both veterans have expiring deals. What would NJ say to that rental? They don't stand to benefit from winning this year, and flip Ceci as a rental to a team with a bit of deadline cap space...

I agree to some extent, but it really seems the Leafs have a bunch of spare parts, tradeable picks, and prospects that don't fit, it would be great to package a bunch of those if the right deal was available.
Let's say those guys are: Ceci, Timashov, Gauthier, Bracco, Harpur, Schmaltz, maybe others. Not exactly key contributors. Many of them could play right now, in the NHL or in a bigger role, for a rebuilding/less deep team.
I would love to see the Leafs make deals for Georgiev and Sami Vatanen, with some picks included.
