What happens next year if konecny doesn’t want to resign. Gonna be hard to move him with a year left lmao. Willy must have negative trade value at this point

Nothing has come out of the organization yet about it, but Jones took a step forward and earned a.spot in the top 6 while Henrique was on IR, Comtois was on the 4th line during that time. New coach this season though, might hold him and see if he can get his mojo back.</div></div>
Although he hasn’t done much yet, he’s someone who’s really peaked my interest the last couple of years. I’d love to see him in a leafs jersey haha

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheresAlwaysNextYear</b></div><div>I still think he's worth keeping. You can run him and Woll as a tandem for a couple years for around ~5m at absolute most which is a bargain (assuming Wolls development continues trending upwards and all signs point to that happening) and not have to deal with a revolving door of goalies</div></div>
I couldn’t agree more with this. He’s an RFA which means we should get a half decent contract with him short term. Once we’re done with JT’s contract in 2 years, we can explore other options.

Leafs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GMBL</b></div><div>I don't watch the Oilers too much but I think he did play on the 2nd and 3rd. Could check in a bit.
Edit: He played 25 minutes with McDavid and Yamamoto, doesn't seem like much but that's his second highest time with any group, although most of his time was with different iterations in the bottom 6. Actually, I'm blind I was thinking that didn't make sense.
These are the lines he played the most with:
Nugent-Hopkins-Kostin-Janmark 141.3 minutes
Kostin-Shore-Ryan 124.9 minutes
In the playoffs all 4th line.</div></div>
That’s fair. I just felt like robertson could be more favourable to play with McDavid since he’s quick and skilled. The leafs should be adding more size and grit, that’s where I thought the idea might work. If he’s probably going to the KHL, that’s a different story then

Vladar makes our goaltending better? I’d much rather just keep Woll as the backup. He’s way cheaper and won’t cost anything

Potential big trade
Rust at 3.5 sounds good. I think over the next 5 years is what will scare the leafs away. I don’t think they’ll want to commit to that contract. It’s low enough but they’re gonna be tight with the cap for the next while

Did he ever play up in the lineup with the oilers? Or was he always on the 4th line?

Nope.</div></div>
I started the trade wanting McBain and then threw in Schmaltz I quickly realized we don’t have very many assets I want to get rid of lmao. What do you think McBain is worth?

That’s a good point. I think everyone should be available if the price is right though. I think the leafs are in a position to overpay for 2 players that will give them contending depth over the next few years. Columbus trading away these 2 guys isn’t going to make or break their off season. Both very good depth players but will they win them the cup? Of course not. The price seems good enough to move both of these players though in my opinion

KEEP MURRAY
Samsonov is still a fairly young goalie. We have to remember that goalie's take alot longer to develop. He's an RFA and I don't see the leafs signing him for longer than 3 years. Since he's an RFA, the AAV that we sign him to will be fairly low. We're not in a stage where we can hope for next year, we have to make moves right now and signing samsonov is free and could be a good payout for us.

I've been a big fan of him for a few years now. I think he would turn heads if he came to toronto. I think his contract would look unreal towards the end of it

Matthews to Jets - WPG perspective
As a leafs fan, I think the jets make the best sense for a trade partner. This deal is totally not going to happen from the leafs perspective. Put yourself in the shoes of leafs management and think why they would do that. For one, goalies don’t have much value in the market. 2, the leafs have Samsonov as an RFA. They could extend him for multiple years at a reasonable AAV. Hellebuyck is the better goalie but not for that value. He’s gonna want crazy money after this year. Leafs don’t want him in my opinion. I’d work something around ehlers and scheifele
