That’s a good point. I think everyone should be available if the price is right though. I think the leafs are in a position to overpay for 2 players that will give them contending depth over the next few years. Columbus trading away these 2 guys isn’t going to make or break their off season. Both very good depth players but will they win them the cup? Of course not. The price seems good enough to move both of these players though in my opinion

The price is not even remotely acceptable. For what the Leafs get, sure it's a fair price. For what the Jackets lose, it's a horrendous deal. You're never going to see it that way though because you're not trying to see it from the Jackets point of view. It's really not a discussion worth having.

Both the Vancouver and Columbus trades are not really worthwhile for the Leafs. You can do just as good as Boone Jenner for less than this price. As for Garland, why would we want a smallish, fast transition forward? We had Kerfoot already. Garland isn't worth getting

If the price is right, maybe, but Boone is as unavailable as it gets. And I've seen just about every fanbase try to trade for him on here, if he did get shopped the bidding would price out most teams immediately. But he's not getting shopped, he's our only capable top-6 center at the moment, the captain, and signed a long-term team friendly deal to stay in Columbus.



Trading Jenner would break the offseason, and it could break the franchise. Good luck extending any UFA/RFA, convincing anyone to sign here at all, or having a functional locker room. He's as heart-and-soul of a player that a franchise could possibly have, not just to the fans but to the organization and higher-ups. And I get that it's probably blissful ignorance, but writing him off as a depth player that won't have an effect on the offseason is another level of living in a different reality.

The Capitals will not retain on Mantha for that poor return. They’d much rather just keep Mantha at that point, retaining makes the trade pointless for WSH.
