<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Miguelicious</b></div><div>Looking at teams in that range:

CHI, No blue chip Goalie prospect
PHI, Hart young
DAL, No blue chip Goalie prospect
NYR, Georgiev Shesterkin both young and able
MTL, Price signed long term
STL, Binnington young; signed long term
NSH, Saros young, Askarov waiting in the wings
NJ, Blackwood young; just drafted Dawes
EDM, cupboard BARE, konovalov is there i guess

On second thought, we might have a chance since I doubt CHI and DAL would reach for him that early.</div></div>

Dallas has Oettinger who's only recently starting to break onto their roster and will be expected to usurp Bishop as the starter next season. The Flyers are also quite high on their own Sam Ersson.

Depending on which school of draft thought you attend, any of Detroit, Los Angeles, or Chicago could be the landing spot for Wallstedt. Some projections have Jesper falling into the 20s. I subscribe to the notion that he's essentially a Red Wing in all but stone. I really don't like the forwards available to Detroit at #6 unless Guenther is still on the board but they could surprise and take a defender, in which case I can't see the Kings passing on a goaltender that could be NHL-ready in 2 years.

Cossa appears to be one of those consensus picks in the #20 overall range. Thanks to both the Leafs and Oilers showing well in the first round of the playoffs, Edmonton's pick is actually automatically upgraded to being 21st overall. If the Islanders make the Final Four, Edmonton will have the #20 pick.

I also believe that Cossa is going to be NHL-ready within the same timeframe as if Edmonton had selected a forward with that pick instead. A defender, knowing Holland, is automatically 3-4 years out.

Using Carter Hart as an example, the Flyers gave him essentially 2.5 years of time to develop: two additional seasons with Everett and a half season in Lehigh Valley. Seb's numbers through the AMBHL, AMHL, and WHL are suggesting that he's projecting to be better than Hart. Note that Cossa full-on skipped minor midget and went right from major bantam to midget. It could never be a one-to-one comparison but I suspect that should the Oilers draft Cossa he'd be projected to be our backup after two seasons. He has the size to fill out the net and he's beyond excellent on his feet, all he's really missing is the ability to contend with an NHL-calibre shooter. Training camps, WJC's, and the potential for two seasons' worth of AHL/ECHL late season/playoff games suggests that he could learn quick.

I like the pick but in order for it to make the most sense, Cossa needs to be prepared for a *fast* development curve. I have a feeling he can handle it.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Miguelicious</b></div><div>I agree, yall got a pretty dangerous bottom six (that Perrault line aint no joke either!).

However, with all the pending UFAs &amp; RFAs (Stastny, Perrault, Lowry, Copp, Thompson, Lewis, Pionk, Forbort, Stanley, Poolman) and only 24M (less 5.3 if Little is back to full health) would you want to pay him more than league average when you play him on the bottom six as opposed to having a cost-controlled top 4 RHD in Bear?
Really asking because I don't know much about PEG's team but Copp is interesting for sure!</div></div>

I totally understand your thought process! Speaking to our UFA/RFA situation, Stastny, Lowry, Forbort &amp; Lewis would be the only UFAs I can realistically see being brought back. I think Stastny will finish his career as a Jet and take a more team friendly deal. Lewis would also be around league minimum and Forbort deserves a raise but won't be outrageous. For our RFAs, Pionk will command a big raise and I have no issues giving him that. Copp is 2nd in line and I could see him coming in around $4.5m/year on a longer term deal which is do-able with our cap situation. Stanley unfortunately I believe will be selected by Seattle :( Little is all but confirmed to be done with hockey and will ride out that contract on the LTIR before retiring.

Now, going back to the Bear for Copp scenario, Bear is a great, cost controlled (like you said) defender, but I just feel like Copp, while he will be more expensive benefits the Jets more.

I appreciate your feedback/response!!
