It was a bit tough to come to this conclusion for me, personally.

First off Kassian. Just doesn't seem to be the same player after smashing his head on the ice. Very wishy-washy, if he's on he's decent, when he's off he's completely invisible. McGinn just cause he's a decently hard worker on the ice. I think we're missing that on the bottom 6.

JP's underlying fancies indicate a phenomenal defensive player yet the eye-test especially in the playoffs left a lot to be desired.
Out there it was more Bambi-On-Ice than Forechecker-Supreme.
I love JP, but I'm afraid if we fall in love with the player or his stats rather than what we see on the ice, it's not gonna end well.
Further to this, I see a TON of ACGM's either simply offer-sheeting him or trading peanuts for him.
I don't think we can afford both Yamo AND JP long term either.

So I came to the conclusion that trading him away to fill needs (an actual bottom 6 guy instead of asking a top 6 type to do bottom 6 things like the whole Yakupov debacle) would be the best way forward.
I did, after considering your post heavily, think that I undervalued JP. This is a more than fair trade for JP all things considered (us losing).

Far as Appleton's salary, I perceive him like Foegele. Decent checker, 10-ish goals, 20ish points. If 2.75M is the going rate, that's the going rate.

Onto Eakin, just need another good faceoff guy. That's really it. Could offer him less, but yeah.

Buddy, you got some uh <em>unresolved</em> issues someplace.

You hold your team in TOO high regard. There is no shame in getting trashed by a clearly superior team, especially with all the injuries lmao: one half of our duo on one leg, our 'best' dman that should've been on a wheelchair.. and we lost pretty much 1 goal games except game 2 (not counting empty netters). That, in and of itself, is an accomplishment. Most Oiler fans are happy right now, while most Leaf fans are still bitter and disillusioned.

There is a LOT of shame in putting a failure of a team on a pedestal year in and year out. 55 years no cup, 18 years no first round win, 5 years straight game 7 meltdowns.. or what, are you gonna say you lost out to the 'cup champs' each and every time? It doesn't matter. We're in the CONFERENCE FINALS, twice now since you've even WON a round. And THAT, is shameful. THAT, is sit-down-like-a-good-boy type humiliation. You may not like it, but thems the facts.

If you don't like people trashing on your fantasies (ACGM's are your own fantasy), learn to back down instead of forcing it through. I'm just stating facts lol

Look, I understand you <em>really really really</em> are fixated on JP, so I'll let you be.
Don't forget though, that there are 30 other teams besides yours and mine.
If we use JP as a sweetener for another deal I'd rather do that if the fit works because again, this here ain't it.

PS. funny how you think Holland doesn't have the 'savvy' to make smart moves, when we're already miles ahead of you guys.
I'm sure he, as an actual professional GM, will do just fine.
