All those low round picks are kinda worthless. Especially for a team like Buffalo that have drafted alot of players the last 3 years.
But they aren't moving Levi. He appears to be the best goalie prospect out there.

He's definitely healthy now, but what about next season or the season after. I like Karlsson alot just saying his contract and NMC really make trading him for good value really hard.
Vegas might want him but they have no cap space.

That's a no from Buffalo with Miller's cap hit and the Sabres organization is really big into culture guys right now, so Miller doesn't really meet that criteria

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>Since when is a 100 point defenseman a massive cap dump, especially when $3 mil is retained a year? Then if this is the offer take out Meier</div></div>
Because it's still 9 mil on the books for that team. NHL is a hard cap league and most teams spend at the cap. Buffalo is one of the few teams that can handle that.
He will be 33 in may with 4 years remaining. He hasn't played 60 games in a season for the last 4 years.
MAX PACIORETTY was traded for nothing because of his cap. I'm not saying he's worthless. Just saying don't be surprised if he is evert traded it's for low value.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>Replace Rosen with a better prospect or another 1st and San Jose might accept.
More like 2 firsts and 3 seconds. There's nothing in there worth a third 1st... It has to be a 1st or a single other asset worth a first you can't just count several lesser assets as another 1st.
Karlsson at 25% retained isn't a massive cap dump. 25% is enough to bring his cap hit down to an acceptable level.</div></div>
Well you have two first round picks and the 14th overall pick in 2021. So yes that value would be three firsts.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>Still missing a good piece or two going back to San Jose but yeah that would be some trade</div></div>
The equivalent of three 1st's and three 2nds seems fair for Meier and a massive cap dump. Yes Karlsson is amazing but that contract for four more years is definitely something SJ would like to move on from. And because of that I don't see Buffalo accepting this. They have to pay Dahlin and Power.

Kane goes home
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hitagi_Senpai</b></div><div>What makes you think Kane is a rental? His from Buffalo, sign cheapish after this season. Could be a great 50-60+ point guy in the middle 6, or even top line. Kane is not done, he just has nothing at all to work with right now in Chicago. Put Kane with TT and Skinner...
And that's not really an over payment. I still think Kane, if moved, will go for far more than what Tarasenko got.</div></div>
Kane will be 35 next season. So that is very much a short term move. His advanced metrics have been in decline the last 2 years and took a nose dive this year. He cant drive offense or play defense. Tarasenko is a better hockey player currently that's why the rangers paid that price rather then trade for Kane. Also Kane has a bad hip which is scaring the few teams away.
Kane might be from Buffalo but it doesn't mean the fan base wants him.

Kane goes home
Sabres GM had a press conference today saying they won't move futures for a short term impact, and that they are exploring depth defenseman.
But for the value Buffalo is sending that's a huge over payment for a rental. Buffalo isn't winning the cup this year. And Kane took a huge step back in play this year. Starting to feel like Chicago might at best get a 1st for him.

Meier for playoffs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoxNix</b></div><div>The 2nds definitely don't cut it. It's going to take at least one 1st probably a 2023 1st. Might take a better player/prospect too.</div></div>
It will be a around or little less then the cost for Horvat. Horvat is a center/Meier is a winger. Not arguing who's better, just saying their is a difference in positional value and they are both top 6 forwards.
Also SJ will have to pay Meier 10 mil next season if they keep his rights. So they do need to move him.
Most likely trade if Buffalo was the team would be a conditional 1st, B prospect like Rosen, NHLer like Olofsson/Mitts/Jokiharju.

Honestly a 1st and a B prospect would get it done. This is a above average goalie, not a top 10 player in the league.

Based on the return for Horvat this is a bit much. Larkin would need to agree to a long term deal prior to the trade.
If a long term contract is agreed upon then a deal would probably include a B prospect (Rosen/Oustland), a conditional first, and a NHLer (mitts/olofsson/jokiharju).
However Buffalo's GM has been very upfront about taking the slow approach of draft and develop.
