Horvat
I’d be disappointed with that return as a Canucks fan. Horvat is one of the best goal scorers in the NHL right now. I’d want Newhook and a 1st minimum

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Right, so you're sticking to pace and don't want to admit it.
See if this helps you understand how stats work. Go to NHL.com and look at Zucker's points and Lowry's points in each of the last 3 seasons. Who produced more? See that's pretty easy. Just like I laid out in my previous post. Lowry has put up more points in 2 of the last 3 seasons.
It doesn't matter how many games it took them to do it (that's pace). It just matters how many points they produced fire their team in a season. It's not Lowry's fault that Zucker is injury prone.
Lowry had been putting up more points than Zucker in 2 of the last 3 year's and is younger and cheaper.</div></div>
Pace very much matters, you're just wrong here.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>bikelh</b></div><div>Idk man. Honestly, the thing the Jets are missing the most right now are versatile middle-six wingers. A 1st rounder might be a steep cost, but Zucker is a def a rental the Jets should consider targeting. Especially if retained.
Although saying that I would prefer they try and trade a defenceman for a forward instead of a pick</div></div>
He's been good but not worth a 1st rounder for the jets. If the jets were legit contenders and were one or two moves away then maybe, but he doesn't move the needle enough and he's expiring. Terrible asset management for the jets IMO

All you have to do is look at the stats to know this is a load of bs lol. Zucker produces the same amount of points as Lowry when Lowry plays a full season and Zucker only plays half a season 😂. Zucker far outproduces Lowry.

Zucker has consistently outproduced Lowry by a pretty wide margin for most of their careers, Zucker broke the 40 point mark three times and the 60 point mark once, Lowry has never hit the 30 point mark, ol Stonehands is off to a great start so maybe this is the year he'll finally shatter that ceiling.. lol 😆

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Windjammer</b></div><div>Nah. Zucker is pretty meh. Paid at least double what he is worth, misses at least half the season or more consistently. Definitely not worth moving a first for. A player of his quality can easily be had for an AHL'er or a mid round pick, or even on waivers. He's just not a difference maker to good or bad teams.</div></div>
Zucker is a good player but I just don't think this is a year to be moving a 1st if this draft is as deep as the hype it gets on here.
I just can't buy stock in a team who's top D pair is
Morrissey-Pionk/DeMelo, even if Hellebuyck has a career year I just can't see them going very far with that for a top D pair.
Zucker probably blocks a trade to Winnipeg anyway, pretty sure all the Canadian teams are on his no trade list.

Trying to get a NMC from David Poile is harder than listening to the Canes home broadcast. Rinne, Josi, and Forsberg are the only Preds to ever get one.

Another Savard trade
I think this is a good trade for Edmonton, but I am unsure if Montreal does it. A first is a first but the season is lost if Guhle doesn't develop. He's done well with Savard, not sure how he'd hold up with Barrie

He's up near the top of the league in blocked shots. If he keeps the offense numbers rolling we could maybe get a first if we package a late second with him to a desperate team.

can we take a moment to realize that Bear is only available because he was beat out of a roster spot by Jalen Chatfeild.
so VAN pays a 5th, for a guy that was beat out of the roster spot by another guy that VAN let walk for nothing..... #assetmanagement

Canes really needed to clear cap/roster spots I guess, Vancouver gets someone who could be a decent 3rd pair D and a depth forward for a 5th

The fact that Florida, Toronto, Vanvouver, etc didn't offer more than this ridiculous return with retention tells you how low is the market for dumping salary. WOW
Or there is some serious problem with Bear but that's speculative.
Anyway it also tells you how confident MTL is about their rookies to not beat that offer :)

I agree the Debrincat trade was underwhelming, a lot of pressure on Korchinski to be great. Some of the smaller trades have worked out so far.
Alex Nylander for Lafferty - Nylander hasnt played a game in the NHL since being traded, Lafferty is playing 15-17 minutes a night, has explosive speed and is a badger on loose pucks.
Riley Stillman was expendable with the depth Chicago has on D, took back Dickinson and a 2nd. Dickinson has been solid so far.
Chicagos depth has been awful the last few seasons, two small trades and now the third line can compete.

This trade is less about who won/lost and more about Chicago doing the right thing for a struggling player. He gets traded to his home province and gets a fresh start, Chicago was able to get a body back for him.
Davidson has done pretty well at so far at finding and trading value in guys who havent been able to find consistency on their current team. Both guys are young so you never know but it will be surprising if either guy turn into impactful NHLers.

He can now go up and down without Montreal losing him and he has potential. I'd rather a contract slot than Hillis

You're being bombarded with all these comments because your logic is plain dumb.
Hillis is an NHL contract in the ECHL, which says a lot. There aren't many of those and they're usually the product of a team handing NHL contract to one of their mid-round picks too soon. It's far from a positive asset, it's a wasted contract spot that would have 100% cleared waivers was he eligible this year. The fact that you're saying an AHL vs ECHL swap is a loss is beyond saving.

By claiming him, Montreal would have had to keep him in the NHL for 30 days + risk losing him for nothing when waived, after those 30 days. On top of this, if CHI claimed him back and no other team did, he could have been sent to the minors by Chicago.
This way, Montreal makes sure he stays in their system, at the AHL level, throughout the entire 22-23 season. Also, getting rid of a contract has value for Montreal.

They really don't. Many teams trade for players who 1. already cleared waivers 2. while sending another contract back.
