How he will cost
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ennis</b></div><div>it's a steep price for a lesser tanev. i know chicago fans on CF LOVE to place their guys at a high price but id be shocked if thats what he went for</div></div>
At $2.2m he is also significantly cheaper than what Tanev will receive in FA.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hawksguy81</b></div><div>The retention alone would cost the Sens a 2nd. Still gotta pay for Murphy after that. A 2nd might get him without retention. Add to that the Hawks aren't looking to move Murphy. Moving him creates a hole both on the ice and in the room for a team that wants to get better this season. With retention, it's a 1st or the Hawks just pass.</div></div>
My thoughts exactly, I have stated before that Murphy costs an early 2nd without retention, the price goes up if the Hawks retain. A 1st or 2 x 2nds or a 2nd and decent prospect.

Not to mention the fact that the hawks already have 8 2nd round picks in the next 3 drafts. I don't think a couple 2nds gets it done. They'd want a mid to late 1st.

Batherson seems to fit the bill for me. The hawks have an abundance of 2nd rounders too, plus we get to keep our own in this proposed deal. Seems fair to me 👍</div></div>

Final tweaks
Retain Schmidt down to $4m and the Hawks probably accept. Or remove the retention and swap the 3rd forza 2nd.

What sucks is that trade offer. Hawks definitely aren't trading back to acquire another LD.

I'm sure both Chicago and San Jose rather just make those picks. Alot of teams have guys like Harris and Barron, they aren't a hard to come by commodity. I'm not knocking them as I think they can both be players it's just they aren't hard to find. There are UFAs that yes will be more expensive but they are also better, if the team wants to compete now than that's probably the direction.
When talking about 20th overall, there may very well be some players rated top 15 fall to that pick. That's not as likely to happen at 27. So if they like a player at that spot, they take that player.
Similar with 14 overall. Alot of good players in the top 15 but someone who that team feels is top 10 might fall to them. Again they take that player.
Same same with The Seattle pick, top 5 could fall to 8.
The biggest flaw is the fact you have teams trading their picks before they even know who is available. So no chance that happens at all. The teams will have to know who's available at their pick before trading it and know that a player that value is likely going to be available at that later pick.

The Hawks have Vlasic and Korchinski as their top 2 at LD and have several promising prospects competing for the 3rd pairing LD spot. It just doesn't make any sense for them to downgrade a pick to add at their strongest position.

Takes a much better offer to dump Elvis. On top of that, Chicago doesn't have an open roster spot for him.

Punishing PLD
????? You're not punishing the PLD by trading him to the Hawks....you're punishing the Hawks. Hawks have no interest and certainly have no problem reaching the cap floor.

Hawks don't need retention on Schmidt. What they do need is a 2nd rounder to take him.

Hawks aren't going to pay what it would cost to acquire Zegras. Takes more than what's in this package. And if Zegras was going to sign for $7m per, he'd be signed already.

Yzerman Bored Mode
Yzerman isn't trading for Nylander. He signed Debrincat for 4 seasons at $7.875M. Debrincat has more goals in fewer games than Nylander and their PPG is the same. So there is no way he gives Nylander between $9M and $10M.

LMAO, not a chance Chicago gives up a lottery pick for Samsonav. Hawks also have two highly touted early pick goalies from the past 3 years of drafts; they are good.
