Can't buyout Mrazak. Leafs decline that trade in a heartbeat. Kane, Pool Party and Bear are all out til Nov or Dec recovering from surgery. And despite all these moves, this still isn't a playoff team. Not nearly enough offense other than the top line and the goaltending is average at best.

Wouldn't pay that for Girard, CHI doesn't need him. Not helping TOR out of their cap troubles without being paid to do so. IF Brodie does end up being the odd man out, there will be more appropriate suitors for him and TOR could likely get positive value for him. Definitely wouldn't pay a 3rd for DeSmith.

COL is also going for it. Losing Girard opens up too big a hole on D and this trade doesn't help them fill that. Declined.
