How does Bedard for Zegras sound? Ridiculous right?
Much like this trade.

If one of Reichel, Nazar, Korchinski aren't in the deal, they don't look your way

I don’t think the Hawks will want to pay what it would cost to acquire Zegras.

I also think time will show that Zegras isn’t worth that price.

I don't know, (2) 1sts including a 2025 lottery pick, 2nd plus a former 1st rounder who's looking pretty solid. Could do Nazar and a late 1st, but not sure that's a better package than above

If Anaheim is looking to move Zegras (hypothetically), they will want young, blue chip players that can immediately replace him or at least be very close to doing so. It's a big package but why do they want to slow their rebuild down by taking more futures?

A 2024 1st that's lottery protected and Reichel is relatively closer. Not saying Chicago is going to do it, it's just hypothetical. It has to be worth Anaheims while. They won't just hand Zegras out

Hawks aren't going to pay what it would cost to acquire Zegras. Takes more than what's in this package. And if Zegras was going to sign for $7m per, he'd be signed already.

You missed the point entirely. Bedard for Zegras is as foolish for Chicago as Zegras for that package is for Anaheim.

I'd be willing to bet that none of us 6 Anaheim diehards would argue that Zegras = Bedard.

Rumors are, he's agreed to a bridge deal and it's going to be around $7M on a bridge, maybe $8M....but he's highly overrated because he's flashy and is terrible defensively so anyone willing to pay more on a bridge is out of their minds

That makes sense. Personally I'd rather take Nazar and a 2025 1st versus Reichel as I think Nazar is going to be a steal. Maybe Oliver Moore for Zegras and a late 1st as well, but doubt the Hawks would agree to it.

I think 7-8 is great for him. A lot of Zegras haters (not saying you're one of them) need to realize he just scored b2b 60 point seasons on a team where his only reliable linemate is Troy Terry, along with playing against every teams top lines. Once Anaheim builds an actual team around him he's going to BLOOM

I'm definitely not a hater, but he's no Austin Matthews let alone McDavid...he's just not at the elite level yet...maybe ever. He needs to learn to play a complete game or needs to be sheltered which is a detractor from being a 1C and shouldn't be paid like one at this point. He's flashy and fun to watch so there's hype there, just can't forget his two way game is bad and maturity issues.

I would argue that package isn't that foolish. (2) 1sts and one will be a lottery pick, a 2nd, a former 1st prospect that looks good and solid veteran bottom 6 player...you don't see those packages getting tossed around very often.

Exchanging the bird in the hand for three birds in the bush is foolish.

I just don't see Chicago buying anyway, even if Zegras was as good as Bedard. Davidson still sees this team as rebuilding and wants to acquire draft capital, not give it up. Zegras is really good but not the type of player that would put Chicago over the hump to being a contender.

I wouldn't wanna give up much more than this and I doubt annaheim would accept a package that's mostly futures. There's gotta be a PLD for Laine deal out there for Anaheim to try to pursue

But that's not the goal. 22 years old, he's another piece along with Bedard, Korchinski, Reichel, Moore, Nazar, etc. He's young enough that he fits the Chicago rebuild.
