Goalies in general do not return 1st round picks, find the last one that did. Samsonov is a mid-level goalie who at best would return a late 2nd round pick.

Yeah. It just doesn't happen unless there are other moving pieces involved AND the goalie is elite. GM's just don't bet those kinds of assets on goalies almost ever.

Also, a huge variable of a goalie looking "elite" is the team playing in front of them. A lot of NHL goalies could look elite with great defensive play in front of them.
