Yes! That's my only thought lol
Although, the Motte-mance is past. Maybe Raty-Aman-Laff/Grit. I believe Raty has been on the wing in Abby this year.

this is one of the sillier things i've ever read.</div></div>
Poitras played some winger in the past from what I read:
https://nesn.com/2024/01/bruins-matthew-poitras-learning-on-job-during-position-change/
But certainly can learn from Coyle in the meantime or Geekie slides out to the wing. I think that was a line combo this year before his injury anyway.

Fair enough. If it weren't for Hayton's injury he probably would have had a good year. Cost effective in the short term.

Seattle Rebuild Begins
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KrakenTheCode</b></div><div>Everything Seattle has been doing since their inception as a franchise has been part of their multi-year building process, with their true peak still yet to come. They're not about to backpedal and reset that whole timeline. With that in mind, I have a hard time seeing the Kraken trade one of their leading scorers to a division rival when they are in need of more scoring, not less.</div></div>
I get that the first year created buzz and belief but I don't see Bjorkstrand, Burakovksy (if he can be moved) or Tanev not being traded eventually. Probably one each season going ahead. Others like Schwartz (NMC), Gourde (lack of C depth) and Eberle (given NMC) seems unlikely.
Larsson and McCann I can see extended even at 30+ when they do come up on UFA.
Maybe Francis tries to flip to revisit the playoffs this offseason via UFA. Not sure I'd agree with that approach but I don't see any of those guys being on this team when they could peak, unless either Larsson and/or McCann. The more early picks they can get now to build up their prospect pool, the better imo.

I suppose a bridge for Jarvis and keep Orlov works. But may be advantageous to go long on Jarvis now. Moving Orlov helps that work.

I ‘m confident that Canucks will fold and we’ll see an extension for Hronek (8x$7-7.5M) soon. He has you by the *#!£>s - not much Canucks mgmt can do, b/c they won’t get near this return for a guy demanding the type of $s he is</div></div>
Same thing ppl said about Petey $12M+. Time to get paid. Canucks fans probably would be fine with $7.25M and under.
Hronek could risk the biscuit and be slotted with Soucy on a QO next season and told to lead his own pairing. If he falters, then he has no balls ;)

I was calling PDG the second coming of Burrows. Good times until the well dried up after the first 8 games. Time for Pod to do what Hog did and earn top 6 ice time.

Ya, I'd probably be keen on a center prospect.
I think Struble is solid defensively and prime for a decade plus solid NHL dman. Skates well and physical. Less fussed about Kovacevic.

Probably shorter term (like 3 years) otherwise higher AAV as Leandro suggested.
And another top 6 forward. Burakovksy is too injury prone and Schwartz isn't top 6 on a playoff team.

BETTMAN GETS BYFIELD
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>batman</b></div><div>1) Byfield extension is already going to be between 8-9M AAV. They’re not going to let him walk because they don’t want to pay 1M more in AAV.. He’s a stud. And Roy is already probably going to walk. Thank the PLD contract for that one. Try between 10-11M AAV if you really want to get the 21yr old out of L.A.
2) Kings could pass on that one, just because another talented forward wouldn’t come back in the deal. But the value would be fair/what they’re looking for. They would then draft a crazy talented foward with the #6 like Demidov or Lindstrom and then would also bet Guhle. Imagine a Clarke-Guhle pair. Losing Roy wouldn’t hurt at all because you just got Guhle and Clarke is going to be full time nhler next szn.
3) We are way more ready than what everyone thinks. We’re going to aim for the playoffs next year. With Suzuki Dach Slafkovsky Caufield Reinbacher Newhook Guhle Hutson and the #5 overall + another trade like the Newhook one ( Necas?). We loaded the prospect pool this last 3 drafts. We can already win big games Vs Big teams. We learned and took experience, the pieces are assembling. We don’t need few more years, it’s time. With Cayden Lindstrom at #5, our team could look like :
Lindstrom ( #5) - Dach - Slafkovsky
Caufield - Suzuki - Necas (Newhook/Dach trade expected
Newhook - Dvorak - Anderson
RHP - Evans - Roy
Matheson - Guhle
Hutson - Reinbacher
Xhekaj - Savard
Monty
Primeau
Hutson and Reinbacher probably make the team.</div></div>
The Kings can't give him a big deal and stay competitive. They are a wild card team and if they lose Roy, their depth and sign another mediocre goalie, it will be worse by going long on Byfield. They need him to bridge and then adjust Doughty and Kopitar cap hits when they expire and then go long on Byfield. It's pretty known from King fans on this site.
I know Montreal has many talented prospects but it's going to be a few years before competitive. That's all I said... Lol
Anderson Gally Savard Matheson will all be gone unless they run Guhle RHD but that pair hasn't been very good.
Lindstrom is talented but will not be NHL ready next season. Dach off a serious knee injury will need time. Reinbacher, Hutson and Mailloix all need time to develop. It won't be next year.

2( MTL would put up the best offer with Guhle and the #6 😉</div></div>
1) At $9.5M it's not easy at all. Goalie, RHD would be in a bad spot if they did. The 4th line would be $775k.
2) Kings would pass
Byfield signs the OS as it takes him to UFA at 27. Montreal would be wiser to keep on going as is. Need a few more years before the young guys turn the franchise around.

He's worth it imo. It's a lot but damn he's getting better and his cap hit is outrageous relative to his game. It's too bad Minnesota has these buyouts hanging around so long.
Not sure the direction Minnesota is headed. Hanging onto pieces through the buyouts, while extending others, suggests they'll ride it out but good place to start fresh if the Wild were to go that route.

Interesting take. Saves draft capital but gotta replace Joseph. Not opposed to it but not a big fan of buyouts and I think Joseph brings elements to the ice that supports offensive guys.
