Easy no for Boston. Wouldn't trade McAvoy trade up for Eichel

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jdfitz77</b></div><div>No, not close
Even though he’s “unhappy” we’re losing, he’s still under contract for 5 more years
So we’re in no hurry to accept an offer where you’d get him at a deal
Plus about half the league will be bidding on him
It’s gonna take Carlo +++
And that’s if we’d even consider trading him to the Buins,
& there’s a good chance we wouldn’t</div></div>
Boston is better off waiting to see if Barkov hits UFA after next year. Cost no assets and imo Barkov is a better all around player.

and boston WANTS to trade mcavoy? lol it doesnt take pastrnak and mcavoy i doubt it actually takes either of them.

last cup run
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Wqrrior</b></div><div>I agree -- but are they PLAYOFF D? Do you look at this defense core and think "Wow, this defense core can win championships?"</div></div>
This is the point I keep trying to make to people. Lauzon and Zboril have exceeded expectations for sure. But a true Cup contender doesn’t settle for a sophomore and rookie and injury-plagued Grzelcyk as their entire left side in the playoffs, at least not without some competition.
With that said, I think that an Ekholm deal is very unlikely and it all comes down to Expansion. The Bruins are not going protect 4 defensemen. So if you trade all these assets for Ekholm and protect him, you lose Grzelcyk too. The only way I see Ekholm on the Bruins this year is if the package is Grzelcyk and a mid-round pick or B prospect. Otherwise, I think they wait and hope he is still available for trade from
Nashville or Seattle after the Expansion Draft.
I think the Bruins best bet to bolster the blue line this year is to rent a top LHD: McCabe, Murray, Forbort, Hjalmarsson, Goligoski, Edler. Maybe Oleksiak, Nemeth, or Montour.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Propeller09</b></div><div>I don't see them trading their first again. Not in a year they are probably going to lose a good young player for nothing to seattle.</div></div>
I also agree with this on both points. I don’t think the Bruins are moving their first this year but I also don’t think they need go to get any of the aforementioned rentals. Also, with Lauzon or Zboril looking like a very likely Expansion loss, I like the idea of adding a younger rental like McCabe, Murray, or Montour to keep in their back pocket as a possible re-signing to replace lost D depth.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Propeller09</b></div><div>I think the perception is the Bruins weakest link is on D, but I am not sure it is. Lauzon and Zboril are clearly NHL dmen. They just weren't going to push Chara and Krug out of the way, well, not until they did. That was 100% a decision the Bruins made on both players.
I just don't see the Bruins giving up what it would take to get Eckholm. I agree with the package, just not to the Bruins.
Chychrun, Hanafin, Dunn - Other than that the Bruins add a guy like McCabe or Moutour for much less. Kurtis MacDemid someone like that.</div></div>
I really like McCabe on the Bruins.

Bruins won't include Studnicka in the deal. And if they acquire Ekholm, he'll likely be on the top pair with McAvoy (or Grzelcyk) but Lauzon won't stay in the top4.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>Rookie season vs rookie season isn't a valid measuring stick. Chabot was 20-21 in his rookie year, Zboril is turning 24 in like a week, It's not the same at all. Being a rookie at 20 is totally different from being a rookie at 24, at 24 you're already entering the peak years of your career and at 20 you're still just gettingyour legs under you at the pro level. Comparing Chabot's 17,18 season to Zboril's is an honest measure, or comparing both players now. Both cases Zboril is coming up miles short.</div></div>
colin white had more points in his second season than mackinnon did in his second season, he must be better!

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Propeller09</b></div><div>Ok - Danault is a good player, but let's pump the breaks. He is essentially an Elite defensively 3rd line center. I can even concede a 2c being held back offensively by team around him (until now) and Claude (legit). I just don't see the point production and he is almost 28 and 33-34 Danault probably isn't worth 5.75m.
The trade is fine, it just doesn't make sense for the Bruins or Canadiens. I don't think Krejci would play for Claude or in MTL.
Danault wouldn't really have a place if things go in the Bruins favor at all. They need a legit 1c - they hope Beecher or Studnicka can develop into that. Danault isn't that , and they have Coyle who essentially the same player (different skill set). They should have some money to spend too.
Bruins resign Krejci and Rask on short term deals and short money (relative) 1-2 years at 5m. Both could get more. Krejci may even take 3x3. Neither guy wants to leave Boston, it feels like both are setting up to have similar departure to Chara, but they won't sign somewhere else.
The only thing the Bruins are trading for at this point would be a potential 1LD or a potential 1C - long term anyway.
Danault has way more value than Debrusk</div></div>
I wasn't arguing with any of that. My statement was just from a Habs stand point we are not trading Danault to a divisional rival and especially not to the Bruins, Lightening or Leafs to make them stronger.

Four trades building prospect depth
I mean that BOS trade is just an abomination.
You call Perrault a cap dump and then turn around and try and flip him to Boston along with a d-men that wouldn't see the ice here and you want our #2 prospect and 3rd AND you want us to retain on Moore? You basically have Boston trading their #2 prospect for nothing, because neither guy you have going to Boston is bumping anyone out of spot.
Looking at a lot of these deals, you massively overvalue Devils players. Last year when NJD shopped Palms, they wanted a 1st round pick....seeing as he's still with NJD it safe to say no one was willing to give that up. Now a year later he's going to net a 1st + potentially some of MTL best young players?

He clearly belongs in the NHL and is showing he could have some real upside and maybe, just maybe the reason he didn't make the NHL for the last couple years was more because of the people in front of him rather than an indictment.
I don't think it matter though, it doesn't make sense for STL. They will have Tarasenko coming back and are going to need to clear cap space. My Guess is they want only picks or prospects.</div></div>
Rather just keep Zboril

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>swinny</b></div><div>Clear? Was that the pursuit of Pietrangelo and Ekamn-Larson?
🤔🤔🤔🤔 Seems to me the Bruins switched gears because they lost on both fronts. It's working out for them for sure, so far anyway.
The bigger point I think is that this is the Bruins last kick at the can - I would be surprised if Kreji is back. It's an aging forward corps. I say go for broke as this year is pretty wide open.
Maybe the Bruins prerogative to pass, I would think there are other teams that see value in moving a 2nd for that kind of defensive depth for the playoffs.</div></div>
"Seems to me the Bruins switched gears because they lost on both fronts. It's working out for them for sure, so far anyway" - literally all that needed to be said. My point exactly.
When they didnt get Pietro or Krug, they said crew it we are going young, they THEN let Chara walk and have rolled with a young defense that has been excellent (they lost those games early in the year cuz of a lack of 5on5 SCORING (not defense).
They are good!
