Kakko had almost no pp or PK time with the Rangers because they were in the top 10 in both categories. Kakko should become a 80+ point player with great 2-way reliability in the next 3 years, as for Lundvist he can play in all situations and having won the Boris Salming Award in the SHL for best overall defenseman in his last year there as a 20 year old, will be a top 4 D guaranteed maybe even number 1. He had little chance with the Rangers strong young D.

Chytil - in my opinion will be a 40 point + player next year and has become a good 2-way hockey player. I think that his confidence is up and it will impact his next several years. I could see him even hitting over 50/60 points in the next 5 years

I agree but if Copp gets to freeagency like it looks I think he may sign elsewhere

I just figured at half his contract playing on the third line would be great for grit, and face-offs. He also has experience, needs a change and there were rumours that Anaheim wanted to restart and send him somewhere.

Hey you might be correct. I watched the world championships and he has great grit and smarts to play 3rd line centre, and he wins face-offs and can play good D. The Rangers don't need him for points. But playing with Kreider and Coleman are gritty players with offensive upside and can hit. With Glendening winning more than 60% of his face-offs, O' Reilly winning 58.9 % and Henrique winning over 55% then the Rangers would go from worst to first in the face-off circle.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mokumboi</b></div><div>Obviously the Blues are not doing that.</div></div>
Yeah I doubt it but if they are willing to reset and get a package that is a pretty good package, a 70 point range centre in Strome, a stong prospect who could hit 60- 80 point in Kravtsov, a young prospect power play decent 2nd line defenseman (similar to a poor man's Adam fox) and a 1st round pick. O'Reilly is great but he is 30 and likely has seen his best days. All three players combined are less cap space than O'Reilly. This was my thinking. All I have learned is anything is possible but if I was the Rangers I would do whatever I could to get him for the next 3 years.

My team
I just don't like Eichel and the Rangers have plenty of skill. They were the worst team in the league in winning face offs so that's what they need. They also need more grinders who can shut down opposing top lines. I watched every second the Rangers played this year have have watched them for 49 years. I like Cousins but New York isn't looking for more prospects. I watch a lot of post game interviews and don't like the way Eichel handles himself. He seems like a selfish player. If he was as good as some people think he would have had at last a point per game even injured. The injury he has is a tough injury to return from. I have had buddies with that same herniated disk in the neck injury and both had to stop playing sports entirely because of the pain and the danger associated with taking a hit with it. All I can say is I agree to disagree. Look at the points the last 3 years for both of these players who have both dealt with injuries during this time.
Mika Zibanejad GP195 G95 A104 PTS199 -1 1.02 PTS/G
Jack Eichel GP166 G66 A112 PTS178 -15 1.07

There is no way in #311 that I would even think of trading all that for Eichel, who might now even be playing or if he played like he did this year I would have zero interest in an entitled jerk who has proven little that he still has the balls to suck it up when he's hurting. I played with broken ribs, fingers, sprained ankles and a broken foot in several sports for nothing. If he can't play for 10 million, I would have no interest in him. Eat right, work your balls off, get sleep and man up. I bet you Zibanejad outscores Eichel by 50 - 100 points minimum over the next 5 years. Cousins might be decent once he adds some muscle. But Buchnevich will be a 60 - 90 point player for the next 5 years. SO I see those two players cancelling out and basically your giving Howden, (I am fine with that) Jones (power play skilled D) and a 1st round pick for nothing.

Hey I know it. I was just fooling around with combinations. It would definitely take more than that to get O'Rielly. Dunn can be left off the trade as well. 4 for one including 3 first round choices. More like Strome, (5th Pick), Kratsov, (9th pick), 2021 1st round pick, and Zackary Jones, power play gifted defenseman.

Realistic Eichel to the Rangers trade
With Eichel's neck issues I wouldn't trade for him no matter what they were asking. Strome had way more point than he had this year and I am not sure Eichel will ever get back to where he was. If the were offered Strome, a 1st round 2021, Kakko and Jones (D) then I think they should jump for it and do a dance. In 5 years that trade would be an albatross that the Ranger would likely regret and Buffalo would be laughing to the bank. They could get O'Reilly who would fit way better, is a better leader, wins more face offs and can play in all situations better for a one dimensional player who plays like he doesn't care half the time. I have played with players with similar neck injuries and none of them played for more than 2 years after they developed. Also they were like 50 % of they previous selves.

Rangers 2022 Grit
I think Kravtsov was 9th overall and is expected to be a 2nd line RW, Chytil should be a good 2nd line player in a year or two, in the 60 - 70 point range, so it might take a 1st or 2nd round instead of a 4th bot then a lesser prospect I am guessing.

Drury Era 2022
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HOCKEYBOY448</b></div><div>I don’t see Nuge as a better option than Strome right now as 1B. Kuzy seems to have a lot more off ice issues than I’d personally prefer to add. Especially on a young team, he might be a negative in terms of being a poor leader in the locker room.</div></div>
It has been said that Strome has a great locker room presence and for a 50 + point centre in a short season, likely 70 points 82 games, my only concern with Strome is his face-offs. The Rangers were last on face-off wins which would improve their overall game and possession numbers. I expect at least a 15 percent improvement in all areas for NYR even if they didn't have any changes. I see Kakko, Lafreniere and Chytil to all have at least around 50 points each next season. None of them will be getting huge raises either.

With Eichel's neck issue I think teams are gonna be a little more reluctant. I am not sure for sure I would except the trade the way it is. I could likely get another decent Centre for that. I would be more inclined to go for O'Reilly in St. Louis but I don't think they want to trade him. I think New York Needs someone like Lowry from WPG as a third line centre with bite and keep the others as is. Eichel hasn't won and might be the reason for the losing culture. I am not sure how selfish he is as a player either but I would take a chance.

Keeping Krieder
I have noticed that most speed players age well. Mike Gartner, had 8 great seasons after age 30, MArtin St. Louis had several great seasons after age 30. Kreider is a fitness guru who will have his best seasons in the next 5 years. Marchand's best season was at age 30 and he might beat that this year. There are plenty of wingers who played well in their 30s The only season he might not hit 25 goals I think will be his last year of the contract. I guess he will hit his peak at 32.

I agree both Lemieux and DeAngelo are worth more than what I have down but the Lemieux has no leverage right now. I think the Rangers will somehow get contracts like this. I would have been more aggressive with trading Namestnikov to Colorado when they were offering something. Since they traded for Burakovsky whose stat-line last year playing with decent players was 76GP 12G 13A 25PTS while Namestnikov was 78GP 11G 20A 31PTS playing lower in the New York Line-up most of the time. I am sure they could have received at least a 2nd round pick and lower prospect.
