Ya I am sure this would workout fantastic for the Leafs..... Are you seriously suggesting playing with 4 forwards and 1 defenseman at all times??? There is a reason a lot of teams are hesitant to even play 4F and 1D on the power play let alone at even strength. Would be a total disaster.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Newanda</b></div><div>Alright, you think adding picks and, or, prospects would get Dumoulin; or are the Penguins not even open to trading him at all?</div></div>
I think he is mostly untouchable. The Devils would have to blow Jim Rutherford off his feet to trade him. Probably not in the Devils best interest to try and trade prospects. I think you'd have a better option in Maatta even though I am a fan of him as well.

I see where you are coming from but Pens say no. Dumoulin is a stud and a bonafide top 2 Dman at worst top 4. Lovejoy is a 6/7 and the Hagelin for Johansson is not that far off in itself. Johansson is more valuable but does not make up for the difference in value between Dumo and Lovejoy.

Then I don't understand the point of having the conditional pick stating only if Karlsson resigns. Kinda pointless to have that if you're only making the deal if he resigns.

The only way I would even thinking about making this trade if I am the Penguins is if they plan on resigning Karlsson. If not why the hell would they want to lose all that for a season worth of Karlsson???

Deal, but only if the Penguins and Pacioretty are able to sign a long term deal before the trade or at least have a deal in place.

For sure, even if he has 3-4 really good seasons and some average seasons it will be worth it.

Makes sense I can see why they signed him to the deal. Doesn't mean it is a good deal though. Like I said I don't think its a major overpayment but I do think it is an overpayment to some extent.

Just makes Matt Murray at 3.75 that much better. Not saying its a gross over payment but 6.1 for 1 solid season.... I guess we will wait and see.

Im not arguing of who is better but your statement of "everyone was producing more back then" is false. The only season in Crosby's career before Mcdavid was drafted that more goals per game were scored compared to this year was in Sid's rookie year. 2005-2006: 3.08 Highest GPG between 2006-2015: 2.95 2017-2018: 2.97

Do this instead of JJ dumpster fire
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jdawglet</b></div><div>Maatta/Oleksiak were a pair, I think Oleksiak played the RH.
That’s weird, I didn’t take Sprong out of the lineup..
I don’t trust Sprong to give him big minutes, but a 3rd RW & PP time is probably right for him. Maybe Vanek on the top RW & Rust on 3LW?
Jarry needs more play time than being a backup G, and DeSmith isn’t good enough. Better to sign a career backup than to try to trade if Murray gets hurt.
I’m fine with Pens going up to $3.5 per on CDH, just have to try a cheaper bottom 6 winger with speed, Reider or Duclair maybe.
Jack Johnson was **** at 21, he’s beet extra **** for the last 3 years or so. He was a healthy scratch in CBJ. He’s not worth a 1 year deal at league minimum, his HERO is worse than Ruhwedel’s...</div></div>
But hes going to get more than 3.5 thats the problem and Vanek is going to probably get 4+ as well...

CDH is going to get upwards of 4 million so good luck trying get him for less than 3. Also Scuderi was 4 years older when he resigned with the Pens. I dont understand why 31 is now the new 40 it seems when talking about JJ.

Kessel to Nashville
I think its a good vision. I wouldn't want to sign Neal for 5 years though and I dont really think it makes much sense to retain salary on Sheary considering the Penguins are the ones at the cap ceiling. Id rather just get a round later pick personally. I really like Ellis though plus he is a right shot and it would b a nice top 6. Having a more gifted offensive D and a solid stay at home D on each pair.

Idk I think you're under valuing Maatta alot. His numbers are as good as Hanifins plus he has playoff experience and is going to be cheaper long term. If you're already giving them rights to Jarry I really don't think that they need to give up much more than that. No way would I give up a first round pick just for his rights.

Rust is for sure a top 6 player and Maatta is a top 4 defensman. Agree that the pens would need to add another piece but they arent far off. No way Vancouver would retain that much on even 1 of their contracts though.

3 Team Staal Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>awatt</b></div><div>If Colorado is going to make that trade, why not exclude Carolina and make the trade with Colorado and Pitt only?
Duchene has the same cap hit for less years and is a top faceoff man, also can play on Crosby's wing and provide the team with an amazing offense.</div></div>
Because I personally don't think Duchene wants to be a third line center and Staal is a better fit for what the pens want out of thier third line center. But in order for Carolina to do this they want a first line caliber center (Duchene is this)
