Manson for Benning
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>YoungPattyKane</b></div><div>teams were demanding a 1st for 2.95 for Joseph I think Manson will cost at least that to move</div></div>
The reason teams were demanding a 1st for Joseph was because of the timing of Ottawa looking to move him when rosters were all set across the league. When teams have more flexibility early in the off-season prices wouldn't be so outrageous.

Yeah you're probably right. It would make more sense to trade Savard at some point and extend Kovacevic. One way or another there's going to be a bit of a logjam at RHD though, but that's a good problem to have.

If Landeskog is done
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>I guess that would work but I still think Manson needs to go regardless; he's making too much to play bottom pair minutes, gets hurt a lot and is slowing down. If Landy can't come back, I'd rather see them trade Manson to free up space to sign a better option to replace Landy, someone that really can play top 6 minutes for a contender and produce.</div></div>
I doubt they pay assets to move Manson unless they are forced to by Landeskog returning.
I'd actually also expect them to be very cautious with handing out a contract to a replacement for Landeskog in 2024 (if he's ruled out) as they have Byram, Georgiev, Rantanen, and O'Connor to re-sign in 2025. It's probably more likely that they take the approach they did with Kuemper or Saad and fill the top 6 role with a one year rental rather than signing an UFA like I've done above, at least until there's clarity on the aforementioned contracts that will need to get done in 2025.

RHD from Montreal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Prime_Jimbo</b></div><div>Would Manson waive his NTC? Have the MacK kale smoothies become too much?</div></div>
Manson's NTC becomes a 12 team NTC in 2024, so he could be moved to any of 19 teams. Presumably the California teams wouldn't be blocked.

He produces at 5v5 even with bad linemates. That could make him a nice fit on the 3rd line, especially if Vancouver retains a bit.

Manson Deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TJTwolf</b></div><div>Main reason for the Avs to move Manson (assuming they wanted to and assuming he didn't have TOR on his list of no's) would be for cap space. Adding Jarnkrok's & Timmins's hits plus retaining isn't something they'd likely be doing. They're actually adding cap here.</div></div>
Timmins would be fine, apart from the fact that he's always hurt.

Manson is borderline negative value with his age, lack of availability due to injuries, and caphit. Avs would probably be happy to rid themselves of that deal this coming off-season.

I agree. Whoever the 2/3 RHD is would need to be a bigger guy who can PK.
Saying that I wonder if they won't just stick with Manson and move Girard, especially with Behrens coming in. Byram/Girard/Behrens is pretty small for the bottom 4.

He's a college UFA potentially... So they'll have to give him some assurances, which is what they seemed to do with Ranta (who got playoff games and 10 regular season games to start the season) and Meyers. Behrens will be wary of having Toews, Byram, and Girard ahead of him too.

So long as Landeskog hasn't called it quits you need to keep capspace open for the possibility of him returning. Otherwise you'll end up $7m over the cap and needing to pay to move contracts.

Waivers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Andy_Dick</b></div><div>In that case Mtl would never move him. RHD too valuable around the league to not pay a 1st and make it worthwhile for Mtl to consider. He didnt have a good camp. Lots of brain cramps. Talent is there though. ATM JB is a bigger project than Mailloux. Savard/Reinbacher/Mailloux/Harris/Kovacevic look all to be ahead of him on the right side. He's an RFA next year so they'll need to make a decision soon enough as hes not even playing regularly and sitting in the press box.</div></div>
Why would anyone pay a 1st for a Dman who has struggled to break into the league even on a bad team? Especially one who is waivers eligible next year with a decent chance he makes it there given Montreal's depth at RHD?

I agree, trading a Dman is the most likely outcome. Most likely one of Manson or Girard.
Manson's full NTC becomes a 12 team NTC in 2024 which is timed well. Also Girard has a 9 team NTC starting July 1st 2024 so the Avs will need to move him before then if he's the chosen cap casualty.

This AGM is just presenting another possibility for how to deal with the cap crunch in 2024. It's pretty unlikely that CMac trades a guy he just signed to a 6 year deal, I agree. Most likely they'll need to move Manson somehow.

Because Avs should be all-in and Behren's is one of their most tradeable assets with any value.

RHD is the Avs biggest need. They may also end up needing to add a forward too though and maybe a 4C depending on how a few new guys do.
