I like Fehervary too, but I also think the Caps could use a player like Girard right now. Gustafsson will find his way out of the lineup like he usually does.

Side note: The old pic of Sakic with the cheeky grin that says he either just fleeced someone or let rip a SBD was better! :tearsofjoy</div></div>
Florida has Lundell as their long term option at 2C. Bennett is a great replacement for Kadri. Also I love that Sakic pic too haha

Girard for Dvorak straight up being a no isn't a great look for Habs fans tbh

You guys acting like Girard isn’t a defensive stud. He uses his body pretty well too. Just because of that hit in playoffs doesn’t mean he gets pushed around.

Girard is an decent if undersized offensive oriented 2nd pair D-man. That's worth something, but not worth as much as some seem to think,</div></div>
So Barrie > Girard in your eyes? I mean Girard’s skating alone is supreme at creating scoring chances.

You cannot be this unaware of other NHL teams, can you? Matheson has better offensive numbers than Girard 5v5 over the last 3 seasons and isn't actually worse defensively.
Matheson
--Would be a cool poll around the NHL. Who would you rather have? Matheson or Girard
Cool, doesn't mean he deserves those minutes. If Montreal wanted an offense first D-man who looked good with Colorado, Barrie is bigger, cheaper (both in a trade and contract wise) and plays RD, which is where Montreal would actually need help. But Montreal probably isn't looking for an offense first D-man.
If he's so good, keep him, but don't expect rebuilding teams to pay through the nose for him.</div></div>
--Tyson Barrie needs to be carried by offensive heavy teams to score now. His defensive numbers are as good as Alex Nylandr playing defense

not only can he play PP/PK, speak French, and make everyone around him better, you get him for 5 more years on a sweet deal. He's loved in Colorado, but he needs the minutes on a team that can really use his service. I would be sad to see him go, but it would be the right move. A win for 31 other teams

By then, Habs would also have a better evaluation on Dach and Guhle.</div></div>
It looks good on paper, but you don't wanna pay a top 4 young defenseman top 4 money and stunt his growth with no minutes

But 5M vs ELC can change a lot in terms of value for players
Anyway, MTL are good for now on the left side, they decided to go with Matheson to mentor Guhle Harris Xhekaj Norlinder (I can keep going with LHD prospects). Edmundson will be traded next year at the
TDL so that will leave Matheson Guhle Harris full time. We really dont need another LHD</div></div>
Matheson is a good guy to mentor the youth. I think he would be Colorado's 8th defenseman. Might as well bring in Jack Johnson

Trading Dvorak means putting more pressure on Suzuki and Dach at the FO circle, and if they fail, this could delay or even destroy their development. Look at Galchenyuk. There is just no need to rush things up.
If Colorado called and offered this trade, I'd very, very politely decline and thank them for the fair balance. However, if Hughes is interested in Girard, they could try to negociate something else, like a package involving Norlinder, Mysak and a high pick. Does Colorado wants/needs this? I don't know.
Let's say Dach has a solid year at 2nc C and Suzuki gets better at FO. We have Evans at 3rd/4th C who can take that defensive duty. Then Dvorak becomes expandable. Would
you make that trade next year?</div></div>
Probably. Girard is just way too talented to be on Colorado's 3rd pairing. Habs can build something nice around him on defense.

They've got Matheson and Edmundson as vets and a number of strong LD prospects that they will be auditioning in the coming seasons. They don't have cap space to do a Dvorak/Girard swap, they're rebuilding so they don't really care about improvements now (if Girard actually represents that).
I get why the Avs would have no interest in a Dvorak for Girard swap straight up, but there's not much reason for Montreal to want Girard unless they're getting a really good deal. They're not going to be
adding anything close to Guhle's value on a swap.</div></div>

Vegas needs to sign two more RFA's that play C and RW. I guess they could, but a second for RFA Roy isn't horrible
