That's good. I definitely don't wish bad on the guy. He just wasn't a good fit in Sullivan's system. I hope he does well there.

I agree that would beat 28+Holtz, but I just cannot imagine that pick is possibly available.
Even if there is "more to the deal" on STL's end, the devils can almost certainly beat that "more" with their own "more"</div></div>
No I don’t think they move that pick. But even one 1st and one of Bolduc or Snuggerud beats the devils offer imo

Wasn’t commenting on value of said proposition. Moreso, the practice of adding random players and trying to combine their value.
Fwiw, I don’t think the blues move Acciari.

Thread:
Barbashev asking price
I'm a Barbashev guy since like his Brother does now he lead our Junior team.
That said he's not the right fit for Toronto anymore then Nick Foligno was
You can go out and pay a 2nd round plus a prospect in the open market landing him pretty easy.
But he's better off on a team like VGK,CGY or DET where his role as a secondary faceoff guy and shutdown checker would have the most impact.
For TML from my POV i think Noel Accari Or Radek Faksa makes more sense.
Faksa's a big heavy hitting shut down Power Center whose consistently top 5 in Faceoffs taken by 4th liners while being a consistent team leader in blocked shots.
DAL doesnt need him they got Quality Centers pushed to wing because Faksa isnt the same player when you move him out of a Center Role.
DAL moving his contract now can be active at the Trade Deadline acquiring the Middle 6 RW they'll need for a Playoff Run since Gurianov is on year 3 of his goal scoring decline they'll need to. Faksa gives TML the depth needed at Center for a real run forcing teams to respect all 4 Centers ability's and their size with JT 6'1, DK 6'2 , Faksa 6'3 , & AM 6'3 with 3/4 weight 215-220lbs they cant be pushed around.
DAL might even pay you to take Faksa in the summer.
This TDL though Top Centers available with 50% or around win rate are Horvat, Monahan, Domi , Accuri, and Bonino.
The rest are injured past TDL or their teams suddenly are in Wildcard position after seeded teams took a pounding .
So this TDL someone might actually pay a 2nd and a prospect for Faksa despite his contract, more if they can get a 3rd team to RS.
Outside being about 750k-1m over paid he's an ideal player especially given he's far more likely to steal a puck then turn it over as he's far too territorial in Nuetral Ice for those types of mistakes.
IMO if he was 1m cheaper with the same term i think TML would have already acquired him.
Same issue MTL has had with trying to move David Savard despite him being a good player he's overpaid in a time where only 2 teams are in a position RS during a rebuild.
Because i want any Canadian Team to Win a cup i'll say if you plugged this hole with Faksa it would help fortify your Defense and Transitional game which is where MTL despite being worse outplays you.
I gotta say its a trend i see when i see Toronto games and Highlights but to be fair its a hard role to fill without overpaying a guy to play at that level.
While Faksa's a Gamble more then the rest he's also easier to move as his 2 remaining years after this are shed.
Accari to a lesser degree checks a lot of the same boxes with far better production accross the boards.
That said Head to Head in the Playoffs Faksa has better Quality in his runs and production plus he's a better shot blocker.
But both would fix what i percieve as TML's single biggest issue in their control of the Neutral Zone

Craziest trade deadline trade ever
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shylo_Moxii</b></div><div>problem is you have no other good prospects. I'd believe other teams offer far better picks or prospects that aren't as late as your second. I'm most likely thinking 2nd and Knies is what they would ask for since you don't have a surplus of prospects. Unless you're willing to offer up Bunting Sandin or Robertson which is a different conversation completely from a 2nd round pick. I don't see Toronto working in the market for Barby.</div></div>
I doubt the Blues still have much interest in Robertson. Dude's made of paper and doesn;t skate well enough to avoid damage.

Craziest trade deadline trade ever
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ToneCapone420</b></div><div>Not a dealbreaker, pick another prospect not named Knies and let it rip</div></div>
Well, there's the rub. Setting Knies aside, there really isn't anyone tempting, with the possible exception of Minten. And delaying the 2nd until '24 means that companion piece needs to be bumped up. Of course, Toronto does not have a '23 2nd to offer. I'm not sure it's going to work, because several other teams can offer more suitable pieces. Honestly, Army should have dealt Barby for Sandin prior to the season, and not re-signed Leddy. I kinda suspect the time for a simple Barby-to-TOR may have passed. Perhaps if something goes package-y. I had a suggestion in an AGM yesterday.

Marner And Nylander Trades
Leafs need to fire Dubas and/or Keefe so Leafs fans can have something else to focus on besides making just absolutely terrible ACGMs.
-I can live in a world where I squint and see Nylander for Tarasenko as a "challenge/change of scenery" type trade - I can even by the 2nd rounder being added for the Blues retaining to make it cap neutral. What I can't see is where the value for Colton Parayko is in this deal - you're literally getting a top 4 D for free. No chance that happens.
-You know this is a terrible offer, right? Dobson isn't a guy that the Islanders are going to trade without being blown away - I'd argue that I'd even hesitate about doing Marner for Dobson straight up. There's no replacement in the system, so without you including something equivalent to Wahlstrom at RHD (Tim Liljegren?) then there's no conversation to be had.

yeah Perron leaving sucks, but the moves today were designed to keep around Thomas and Kyrou for sure. Leddy isn't a horrible deal, he did play well for the Blues when he joined the team. He is a good partner for Parayko in all honesty and the options for that were very slim without moving a lot to acquire a LD through trade. Scandella is hopefully moved at the TDL or next offseason. Blues still need to sign Kostin, Perunovich, and Mikkola. It won't be as bad as you think it will be. We are putting a lot of trust in our future with Thomas and Kyrou, but hopefully it all works out.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mondo</b></div><div><strong>Personally, I think whoever the Hawks draft at both 7th and 39th won't end up having the same value as Debrincat would've provided in the coming years. </strong>
I think Chicago could've gotten a B-tier prospect out of the trade as well. Great trade for Ottawa, especially considering earlier reports were about them trying to trade that 7th overall to get rid of Matt Murray. Much better use of assets.</div></div>
Trades don't work that way though. That would only make sense if teams had lifetime control over the rights to players. There is no guarantee Debrincat stays in Chicago, and it is very reasonable to assume he is going to leave based on the fact that they are entering a rebuild. They likely had some indication that he might not be interested in playing through a rebuild.
So if that is true, then the question is, does Chicago get a bigger return by waiting and dealing Debrincat at the deadline, or next off season? The answer is almost certainly no. Other than Matt Duchene, who is the exception to the rule, show me players with 2 years of team control (and a high QO to boot) who have returned this much. It's pretty rare. The team selling off a player with limited team control usually gets pennies on the dollar.
