I would probably do that if I were Bill Guerin. Chaffee doesn’t really have a path into our current lineup anyways.

This team is gonna ball out
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hurricanes73</b></div><div>Ngl when Matthews is a free agent, I see him getting the richest contract in league history. I’d expect 14m minimum. He’s definitely leaving the leafs for the states but it’s hard to see where he would go. He’s from AZ so if they are on the upwards trend by then it could be there but tbh so many teams have the ability to get him. Cant count out the kings there but they are probably out because byfield and turcotte will be NHLers and damn good ones at that. Also don’t see it as wise to sign matthews even tho there is the cap, yurov, Rossi, ohgren, faber, lambos, and wallstedt will demand pay raises within 1-3 years after. Obviously that is assuming they all pan out but the one definite imo is Rossi. He honestly could’ve gone top 3 if he was healthy. Rossi imo could be a top 3 player from that draft. Mind you looking at it 2 years later, the draft had a loaded lottery. As of this moment Laf may have been the worst player in that top 15 if he doesn’t turn his career around. With stutzle, Raymond, drysdale, lundell and Jarvis already being better NHL producers than him it’s nuts. Byfield underperformed in his NHL season but I still view him as having higher upside than Laf. With quinn holtz Rossi perfetti and Holloway all tearing up the AHL last year in that order, I see them doing great in the NHL next season. Sanderson preformed well in the NCAA last season and should be a good NHLer as well. That leaves only askarov and Amirov to make the NHL jump but they are Russian meaning it will probably not be next year and Amirov was held back due to a brain tumor this past year. Honestly the top 2 picks at the moment are shaping out to be the worst lottery picks but I expect byfield to make a massive jump next year. This is a great draft class so far and it’s rare to see the worst lottery talent at the top in a good class. Very interesting stuff. Sorry for the tangent bro</div></div>
It’s all good man😂😂
But yeah I agree with you on the Matthews point, I just did it to represent all that money they would have to use in free agency with all the young kids being on ELCs. You gotta remember that the cap will continue to raise now that the NHL is finally recovering from the financial blow of Covid. I also expect some of those guys like Rossi, Faber, Lambos, Yurov, Ohgren, and Khusnutdinov to sign bridge deals after their ELCs end. I think Wallstedt probably will get a full 8 year deal worth the bag after his ELC ends though.

You could play him between 97 and 36 and move Hartman to RW with Rossi and Boldy. I just liked the idea of giving Rossi two big wingers.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RazWild</b></div><div>I'm pretty sure he meant fit as in cap hit, not player fit.</div></div>
I don’t know what Guerin would be opening up cap space for then, we don’t need any more defenseman, we don’t need any more goalies, and we don’t need anymore bottom 6 forwards. The place I’d be looking to address is the wing spot next to Rossi and Boldy. Gaudreau isn’t a 2nd line player and is better suited at center because of his defensive prowess.

The fit is unbelievable for MIN, tough guy with character who has above average skill. That’s right up Bill Guerin’s alley as to the type of players he covets, not to mention he can play every forward position which Evason loves.

Just my personal preference, I know there's lots of good players who are poor skaters in the league (Stone, Tavares, etc.) but skating typically wins you cups. Just look at the cup finals this year, the Avs and Lightning are two of the fastest teams in the league.
I dunno, Miroshnichenko would have been a top 5 pick in this draft if he hadn't been diagnosed with cancer and weren't Russian, I think he has one of the highest ceilings in this entire draft class (maybe even higher than Dach's). The cancer he has is very treatable, so I'm not worried about that.</div></div>
It was also reported that Miro has been cleared to begin training and that he’s expected to be ready for next season in the VHL/KHL

I don't love it though, would rather move Addison like I mentioned in my thread. I know there's the whole scary situation with Russians right now, but Corey Pronman seems to believe Miroshnichenko will be available in the mid- to late- 20's based on his conversations with scouts/execs and I would LOVE taking him at 24 if we also select at 19.</div></div>
I’m a fan of both Yurov and Miro so I’d have no problem taking either of them, if they weren’t Russians and if Miro hadn’t been diagnosed with cancer they’d both be top 12 picks no doubt. Guerin and Brackett aren’t scared of going against the grain either so I can definitely see them going with a Russian in the 1 round. The reasoning behind trading one of our 1sts for Dach is to bring in a cheap young forward that can play this season vs having to wait 2-3 for whoever we draft to show up.

I wouldn’t give up Beckman and 19 for Dach, if we were to bring up Beckman this year for the entire season he would easily match Dachs point production. I’d be willing to do one of 19 or 24 but Dach hasn’t shown much of anything so you’re just banking on upside.

One thing is for sure though, draft week just got far more interesting for Wild fans.

He’s likely to fall due to the whole Russian ties but you can’t punish an 18 year old kid who has nothing to do with what’s going on with Russia and Ukraine right now. He’d be my preferred pick at 19. If Marco Kasper falls to around 10-13 I would be happy to see Guerin trade up to try and grab him. Rossi and Kasper are very familiar with each other both being natives of Austria plus Kasper fills our biggest need at center and has arguably the one of the highest floors in the entire draft so he’s be a pretty safe pick.

My guess at Fiala trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>joshelkin</b></div><div>IMO Raty is best served marinating one year in the AHL. I think him + the 13th pick is a little rich. I'd want something like the Mercer deal where it's a 2nd rounder. Maybe add a small piece in (Wilde again?) to make up some value. Is Rossi not going to be an NHL player next year? I get long term Center is a position of importance but Eriksson-Ek, Hartman, Gaudreau, Rossi, Jost seems like enough C depth to get by for now</div></div>
I expect Rossi to be in the lineup next year but we need somebody who can become a legitimate 1C and Rossi may very well become that one day but if you were to have both Räty and Rossi then you get 2 shots at developing a 1C vs just having 1 shot with Rossi. EK is the perfect 2nd line center but we get the best out of Foligno and Greenway who are 3rd line wingers by pairing them with EK. Hartman is best served playing winger and we have a number of guys who can play 4C.
I’d rather have EK, Rossi, and Räty down the middle for the next decade rather than just EK and Rossi.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>joshelkin</b></div><div>I just don't think the Isles trade Raty. I get the Wild want a C prospect. But I also doubt Mercer is on the table for NJ. Maybe OTT has a C I'm forgetting about but arguably the top suitors for Fiala aren't likely to have that C.
I'd counter with Simon Holmstrom and Bode Wilde as the players involved in the trade. It's reasonable value. Just not getting the priority position you probably want. Just draft Kaspar, Lambert, or Geekie at #13</div></div>
Difference is Lambert, Kapser, and Geekie all would take 2/3 years to be an impact at the very least. Räty has a chance to step into the NHL at some point this upcoming season. To be completely honest I’m more interested in Räty than I am the 13th overall pick. My opinion means nothing though, it should be a fun next week or so with all the rumors and speculation around trades leading up to the draft on the 7th.
